1. Day off for me today and been wanting for a long time to try and learn our Norms "Hit me" been at it about 4 hours now and just about got it up to speed! Seems to be more about getting the muscle memory working than remembering the notes. I'll be happy if I can crack it Good on you Norman.
2.
GHS pressurewounds on my fretless very responsive, ie they can be as dark or as zingy as you like depending on how you attack them. Much more like rounds than Chromes.
Sounding nice, I think I might get on with that mix. I'll give them a go next time I'm buying strings. I just ordered a set of DR BB's to try on the Stingray as I'm finding the Cobalts a bit too zingy and theTI flats have gone back on the Jazz. I think I'm happy, then it all starts again.. bit like GAS!!
3.
The top half is a Misa Kitara.
Thanks. If this is it? Looks more like a toy close up http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IE6d9XtLluo&list=PL19319C10F94E4563&index=1&feature=plpp_video
4. I'd love to try it, thought it sounded interesting, can't imagine wanting to use it for a full set tho. You can't beat the fun you can have on the old type four stringer imo.
5. Mines gone up a bit over the years, I can't pull of the playing it round your knees any more Even my bass hero's like Simmo have sensible had to move the bass up a notch or 2 over the years Just play it where it feels comfortable, a lot of cool players wearing the bass fairly high as well.
6.
Thank you !
+1 With the thanks (I used to have oneof those TE combo's) and was always fiddling with it trying to get it to sound nice .
7. I have nothing but good things to say about their customer service as well. I bought one of their combo's when it first came out mail order from a Germany shop and it arrived broken.. Uffe from TC saw a post I made about my disappointment on having to wait for a replacement and offered to ship me one straight away from their own offices in Denmark which he did. Hats off to TC Electronic.... and the amps still working fine btw. Edit. How about our own Alex at Barefaced next?
8.
And then when you achieved that, is usually the point where you realise it wasn't one you've just created in a sweep of inspiration, but the line to a song you played & really liked on a CD two or three months previously & left lying next to the hi-fi.
That's a for sure.
9. I voted J for that silly slap stuff, to keep me amused
10. Interesting thread/question. I definately hear what I'd like to be able to play, but it takes a lot of time and work to get it out and sounding right and the Band normally want to move on a bit quicker. I'll do what I can to get close, but often have to compromise, due to my lack of skill or in thinking that simple is really best sometimes (did you see the excuses?) I'd love it if all my bass lines were 100% how I wanted them to be/sound.. but guess that's the Holy Grail of bass playing, at least it seems to be to me
11. At the moment a lot, I'll at least pick one up everyday even if only for a few mins, feels like something is missing if I don't. Bass is the drug of choice again. We practice a couple of times a week with the Band, then I'll do my own tinkering/practice stuff at home. In the past when I took a break from playing with other people and bands and started a Family, I left the bass alone for a good few years and might only of picked it up when I felt guilty looking at it.
12.
+1 for the EBS.... The last thing in my path before the amp and its always on.
Thought I'd just report back and say that I have been trying the EBS as an (always on) in my loop and have found using moderate/subtle compression that I can still get a lot of dynamics but with none of the volume spikes/boosts/cuts I was suffering from before when switching pedals. All in all I'd say it seems to of given me a cleaner and more even tone, that still lets me have some bite when I dig in. Early days, but it seems to be doing exactly what I hoped it would. Subtle bit nice
13. I like 12's in my rig and lined up with the Streamliner 600, it's more than enough for me. Hardly ever past 12 pm on the vol, even for loud.
14.
That is a very good point cosmo
I agree as well, hadn't thought about that!
15. The Vids a bit cheesy for my taste, but she is pretty awesome and one of the best female funksters out there on bass. Sounded like flats on the jazz to me, great sound from everyone.
16. it's pretty good value for what it is.. very loud, lots of tone shaping, tuner and compressor on-board. Does lack a bit of punch and definition you'll get with more expensive combo's/heads-cabs! Had mine a couple of years now, it's performed well.. Mine gets carted along and does a decent job any time I don't need to go collect my main rig. I use it mainly as a practice amp at home (very nice sounding headphone and aux ) Would I buy one again, don't think so, but then I love to swap and change gear. I thought it was the best out there for the money at the time I bought it. I'd give it a 7-10 on my scale
17. Bump for this, love mine as well. It's one to get you noticed
18. My intonation could be better, but my fretless Fender P 's is fine
19.
In any case £24 is a normal transfer fee for sending abroad.
I think it's a case of the UK's arcahic Banking system! As I stated I can send from Finland to any EU countries bank by IBAN at a cost to myself of €1. The reciever should have nothing to pay and that would include conversion from Euros to Pounds. There maybe an upperlimit on the sending amount, but I have transfered upwards of €1500 and had no problems.
20. Looks legit. If he's not Paypal confirmed he'll have to wait till the code shows on his Bank statement before he can enter it, might be a long wait. I use IBAN and BIC most of the time when paying overseas, Finland has a single cost of €1 for IBAN transfers if you do them yourself
21. I'm sure you guys have seen this before; shame the quality is a bit off http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zMYkl6sE6qU
22. Annoying as hell when that happens I've had it with other makes in the past, just put it down to bad luck. As long as your happy now and found a sound you were after thats what counts.
23. Cool. I got to see them only one at the Brixton Ace in the early 80's great show!
24. I'am all fingers and always have been.. but when I do use a pick, I sometimes get cramps in my fingers, maybe from holding the pick too hard.
25. I thought the Frankie and TH's Bass sounds were great in all those vids, what a great producer, arranger and musician he is/was. Never knew he played some of the stuff himself always thought he just got Muso's in for his ideas.
