    Bloody hell. From bitter experience, I know that cracking in the hard outer shell of the luthite body acts as a weakness and makes the lower horn very fragile. And the upper horn too, I have no doubt. Avoid like the plague.

    Agree. I have a Kramer Duke, which is quite capable of maiming your drummer if not handled carefully. And that's not even pointed.

    I wouldn't want to drill the neck like that, myself; four holes across the top of the neck, positioned just right for a crack to propagate, and with the four original strings putting tension on the area. Trouble waiting to happen.
