  1. I bought a P-bass loom from Tom. Quick and uncomplicated transaction, all went well. I'd be pleased to deal with him again. Thanks Tom
  2. Tom has another feedback thread here... must be in the running for most feedback ever!
  3. Ahh. That hadn't occurred to me - which is embarrassing, as I have a Krappy Guitars two-string built especially for the Morphine wannabe. Good call
  4. In Australia, so of academic interest only to most of us. But this is new to me, I've not run across them before. It also seems to take the prize for World's Thinnest Neck At The Nut - 36mm?! It's quite pretty, if you like that sort of thing. (Which I do.) https://www.ebay.com/itm/225573930427?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D1110006%26algo%3DHOMESPLICE.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20200818143230%26meid%3D063dfa63e58142b8a97e01b3c3d516d6%26pid%3D101224%26rk%3D5%26rkt%3D5%26sd%3D295697244552%26itm%3D225573930427%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2047675%26algv%3DDefaultOrganicWebV9BertRefreshRanker%26brand%3DYamaha&_trksid=p2047675.c101224.m-1
  5. Mmm. "May not ship to the UK"... they say that like it's a bad thing. I would actually like to know more about this, but mostly because I want to understand how anyone arrives at the point where this seems like a good idea. Are they a balalaika player, did they just have a bit of wood of mostly the right shape... what?
  6. I could definitely see that being prettier than the original. Would you have to move the bridge?
  7. ... if he hasn't removed too much wood, that is...
  8. I've just bought a bass from David. This is the fourth time we've dealt with each other, which should tell its own story. An easy transaction; he was patient, thoughtful and courteous. I'd have no difficulty in dealing with him again. Thanks David, much appreciated.
  9. Retrovibe are offering a near-copy. And they will do five-strings to order. And it weighs a little over 9lb. Which I suppose might put the purists off Unfortunately for me, it's sunburst only. https://retrovibe.co.uk/product/retrovibe-tt40-tt50-bass-34-scale-3-tone-burst-maple-neck-peavey-t40-style/?fbclid=IwAR1bbeo7d_8mK3h1dxVAgq-Xn-6L-UAnJzC3Nr4WfMP6neRO3b9_Hxq4kRc
  10. Tricky. Might depend on the band you're in?
  11. Mmm. I have family there. :ponders:
  12. CDs. I'm not keen on renting and my broadband is not always reliable.
  13. Not for me. YMMV.
  14. Out of my reach, sadly. Good luck with your sale!
  15. I've not run across these before. Looks nice, if you like that sort of thing (I do, but I have too many basses and it's too far away). https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/115779414515?hash=item1af4fda9f3:g:Dj8AAOSwR4ZkDbHL
  16. @Bassassin might know, but I don't think they are Japanese?
  17. Is the second bass not one of those Russian jobs from the 70s?
  18. Pretty. If I didn't already have too many instruments I can't play, I'd definitely want to be in the queue
  19. Hi. I can't really remember (among other things, I had a stroke later that year), but the body shape rings a bell. Can't help any more than that, sorry.
  20. Looks like a set of prison pyjamas.
  21. Thanks folks. I shall give it a go.
  22. Anyone tried this? Do the strings wear quickly? Any info gratefully received
  23. Have you tried a different bass (same model, if possible)? I'm just wondering if it might be an issue with your hearing.
  24. Consider restringing a four-string BEAD (bottom four strings of a five-string set). I have a Harley Benton strung like this, it's an interesting change and needed minimal setup, and the whole thing cost me less than £150. It might make it easier to understand what you actually want to do.
