4. Welcome, Congrats on playing your first live song. One small step etc............ Mart.
5. Bit of a hard one this......... We only do covers, but people don't tend to recognise 'em the way we play 'em......... So people probably think we play originals! Mart

10. I'm a Rutger fan too (there I've said it, and I tell you what I feel better already!) At the time when ABBA were at there peak and having hits every other month..... the problem I had was that I was in a heavy rock band at the time, and liking that kind of music was, well, just bad form! Now, at last I can admit my love for those amazing bass lines and maybe, just maybe try and play one or two of them...... Erm.......... No, I think that will have to wait a bit longer........ it's all too soon........... Mart.
11. So sad....... RIP. Mart
12.
These basses are far from crap, they were extremely good in fact. My Vantage VS600 guitar was a real player and tone monster. Woods, contruction, hardware, pups, all good.
+1 I had one of these basses many moons ago (single p bass pickup)...... it was a stonkin' bass! Mart
13. Pete, Martyn Pegg here mate........ how's it going? Welcome to Basschat, Mart. Yeah Tom, it probably was Funky Pete!
14.
Hey Everyone. Been on the boards for a while now but just noticed I have never actually written an Introduction. So Hello to Everyone here. My name is Mike but I usually get called Mogli (Yeah I know its spelt Mowgli but I wanted to be different) by the people who know me. (It was a High School nick name that stuck. Even my Partners parents call me it). I am 25 in June and I am a taller bugger. (6'7"). I currently live in Newmains, Scotland. (Near Glasgow). I have played bass for close to 8 years. I have played in numerous different bands. (Metal/ rock bands). I currently play a 6 string Cort Curbow through a Hartke 3500amp head and 4x10VXA cab. I have other basses which you can see in my sig. I love all types of music really and love trying to play different styles. Loads of bass heroes too. To many too name. Any questions ask away. Mogli
Wow! I thought I was tall at 6' 4"...... You need to save up and get yerself a Thunderbird mate I used to use Hartke gear..... they are great for the money, By the way, welcome, Mart
15. Perhaps, Mr Jamerson had grown the nail on his playing finger and that's why it sounds a bit more picky? Mart
16. Welcome Steve, From another mature bass player! I like the choice of music matey. I tell you what, I've been toying with the idea of putting a 'P' Quarterpounder in one of my basses... I've got the pickup but never got 'round to installing it. What difference has the change made? ..... and what's all this then, a Union fan in a hot bed of League? Cheers, Mart
17. First bass: A shafesbury Ric 3000 series copy, bought in Nov 1974 for £25.... I used a black bin bag as a gig bag for 2 years (I couldn't afford to buy a case that the bass fitted into). Reason I started bass: I was playing g**tar at the time (a Zenta), me and a few mates decided to form a band and as we already had two other g**tarists, I went on to bass - probably for two main reasons, I was the tallest and if the truth be known the worst g**tarist out of the three! Happy days! Mart
18. I've used Rotosound Swing/Jazz/Tru bass strings for about 35 years (not the same ones.... before some wise guy says something) and I love 'em. I really like how the Swing bass lose their brightness after a short period of time because the slightly duller sound seems to suit the music that I play (I use a pick and play rock/rock 'n' roll). Horses for courses, I wish I could get mine for free...... go for it mate! Mart.
19. This may seem like a bit of a daft question but, why is it that the position of the strap button on the upper horn of (mainly 1970's?) Fender basses seems to vary from bass to bass? On some examples they are placed pointing level with the neck and on others they are pointing down towards the neck. Is it something to do with the year of manufacture or is it just a random thing? Mart
