1.
I havn't read the above posts cos i'm in a rush, so apologies if this has been said before. Pick up a 2nd hand American Jazz bass with S1 switching, probly cost you about £500 - £600. The S1 switch changes the neck pickup between series and parrallel, giving you Jazz tones when off and Precision tones when on! Nice Si
+1 I agree - get one for the best of both worlds. By the way, don't go for the Precision with the S1 switching, Ive got one and I'm still trying to work out why it's there...... all it seems to do is give you a thin sound similar to a (very) cheap P Bass copy - or is it just me? Cheers, Mart.

Hi

Glad you made it Chris - nice to see another 'wood' person in the ranks, Mart
3. I know I've got too many basses already...... but I'd love a black early 70's Precision with a maple neck. I had a '74 years ago and sold it. With the money from the sale I got a brand new Peavey Dyna-Bass and what money was left I used as beer money....... seemed like a good idea at the time. Looking back, it doesn't seem so good now. Nevermind....... Mart
4. Welcome back AndyG....sorry bubinga5, Just as a wild guess.......do you own a Warwick Thumb 5 string? Have fun mate, Mart
5. Our bands tuning: down a semi i.e. Guitarist: Eb, Ab, Db, Gb, Bb, Eb Me: Eb, Ab, Db, Gb The official reason is that it helps to fatten the sound up - (well that's what I tell the guitarist and drummer) The real reason is that it helps me reach the high notes when I'm singing Mart
6. Adam Clayton (U2)......... honest.......... Mart
7. Fellow Low End Midlanders, Although I can't make it, I'm in Italy on the 16th, I hope you guys have a great time. Would have been nice to meet everyone - even though It would have been a 160 mile round trip. Nevermind......maybe next time? Cheers, Mart
8.
does he mean pelham blue not pellum blue? Looks nice
Yeah, looks like Pelham Blue, a Cadillac colour (color) from the sixties. I've seen it, a few years ago, on an SG from that period, where it appeared to be a wierd shade of green! - the light reacting with the poly finish no doubt. Great to see the colour as it was meant to be..... Mart
9. Welcome dabootsy, Although I'm a rocker myself........I love those Bernard Edwards grooves........and I guess that you may be into Bootsy as well? - funktastic! Cheers, Mart

14.
Harvester is a pub chain ? Which one ?
Machines, I talking about 'The Harvester' pub not pubs that are run by the Harvester chain: Address: Tanhouse Farm Road, Solihull, B92 9EY - www.harvesterlife.com If you haven't been in, they have some great bands on.....lots of music tastes catered for....great crowd....fantastic place to play........worth a visit Mart.
15. Simon73, Linz is a very nice city in Austria......that's why I asked Cheers, Mart.
16. Great looking bass Machines, I've got a transitional bridge one myself. Can you still buy the mute kits and if so where from and how much? That pickup placement does look rather interesting........... By the way, noticed where you live, do you ever play at the Harvester in Solihull? - one of my fave gigs, fantastic crowd. Mart.
17. Hello hippybass, Nice to have you here....... I've got a Jetglo 4003s - that's the mono model (i.e. single input), with a dot neck and no binding on the body. I've had a 4001 and a 4003 in the past, but I find that the 's' is a lot more comfortable to play and gives a slightly different sound (more rounded, not as clanky....... a bit more Macca?) Anyway, All the best, Mart.
18.
Hi Simon and welcome to the site. Hey now I think of it, I was almost one first time around You don't come from Austria do you? Cheers, Mart.
19. Welcome aboard Redd, Mart
20. Don't worry Thumbo..... I wouldn't have a clue what to do when it comes to starting a poll... at least you tried mate. Strings? - good old, I mean new (you know what I mean) Rotosounds Cheers, Mart
21. Welcome Simon, I see you like black basses....... I'm a fan of that colour(?) too. Black clothing with a black bass = pure rock 'n' roll..... as long as you've been using your 'Head and Shoulders', that is Cheers, Mart.
22. Thanks for the info Nick....... I can feel my bones starting to ache! Cheers, Mart.
23. Hello pbd, Keep postin', it's the only way............ Mart.
24. A Gibson Thunderbird in the wrong hands can kill Amps/Cabs, I know because I've got one..... you know, that old combo sounded absolutely amazing just before the poor thing died Mart.
25. Welcome Nick, So glad you made it..... Is there much weight in the 6x10 (i.e. can someone with a dodgy back/knees, like me, cope with it)? Cheers, Mart.
