  1. Hi WW, Glad you could make it... Mart
  2. I don't know if any of you guys and gals have talked about rockstarsguitars.com before, but what a place that is - I tend to dip into the site occasionally just for a nose around. Has anybody ever purchased anything from them?...... What kind of prices do things go for?.....How much for that Macca pick?........The 'Ox' flightcase?.....etc. I daren't contact them just in case I pass out and bump my head when I fall after finding out the prices! My fave on the site at the moment is the Jack Bruce 1966 Gibson 'Sunshine' EB3...... wow, how much is that I wonder? Comments folks? Mart
  3. Ernie Ball Musicman StingRay 3EQ (maple neck) - so versatile! Bit suprised that EB are doing so poorly in the poll. Mart.
  4. In my house 7 basses are the maximum. You see, I've got 14 at the moment but don't tell her indoors - she thinks that I've only got half that number. Now this is how the con works, what I do is put 7 cases containing basses behind 7 basses on stands and make out that the cases are empty and for the basses on the stands - clever huh! So the official line is that 8 basses are too many in Woodenshirt Towers. There again, she ain't that stupid so she most likely knows what I'm doing and is probably just humouring me........ Mart
  5. Hello Andy, So you made it across then..... Tell you what, if you've been likened to Mr Lynott then you get my vote.... the bloke was a genius. Do you sing like the great man as well? Mart.
  6. Welcome iamthewalrus, Mighty fine taste in music and equipment.......not sure about the football team though! LOL. There already seems like hundreds of bass playing West Ham fans.......how come no bass players, except me, support Stoke - it's just not fair!!!! Watch the Icelanders though.....they may just dump you one day (like they did with us..... grrrrrr). Anyway.....nice to have you on the Basschat team, Afram West Ham (as they say in Iceland) Cheers, Mart
  7. Hello Jase, What kind of music you into.....what gear you got etc? Mart
  8. Welcome Shaun, I love the band name.....totally spot on for your type of music I should imagine. Top tip: If you ever decide to change musical direction, I can't see you playing Jazz Funk with a name like that mate!!!!! Mart
  9. Thanks for the welcome folks, Cheers, (Young) Mart.
  10. Great basses Thumbo, Love the '74 Precision......looks like one I used to have a few years ago. I see that the red in the sunburst on the front has started to fade, the same thing happened to mine - I think it gives it a great look. Also I found that on mine, when outside in direct sunlight the black on the 'burst had a greenish tint - is that the case with yours? (I wonder if it was something to do with the paint they used at the time - had it with a Ric from the same period?) Anyway, one mighty fine looking bat! Mart.
  11. Hello mate, Don't worry Dave I think you only have to post ten times to lose the Newbie status! Mart
  12. Hello everybody, This is me: I'm an ex-Bassworlder, ex-Basstalker from somewhere near Stoke on Trent. I've been playing music for nearly forty years - I'm not that old really I just started early (honest). I play Bass (obviously) and sing in a rock/r'n'b trio. My favourite bands include The Pirates, Dr feelgood and most rock bands from the seventies. My gear: In my time I have owned lots and lots of basses, most have gone but some still remain. I don't think of myself as a collector but I'm told that I am. Currently I have some old Fender Precision and Jazz Basses, a Gibson Thunderbird, a Rickenbacker 4003s, some Musicman Basses and a couple of others. I have a Mesa Walkabout Scout 12 and a Ampeg B100r (one that works!) for making noise. My live set up is usually the Scout and a couple of StingRays. I don't use any effects but I do use a pick/plectrum. Cheers, Mart.
  13. John, It was a '1' mate. I didn't pick her up so I can't say how she handles old boy, but for less than a ton and if you're looking for one....well......it's got to be worth a try, hasn't it? All the best, Mart
  14. There's a Thunder 1 Bass for sale in the Cash Generator store in Nuneaton, Warks - saw it about two hours ago. That's priced at £99.99. Didn't look in bad nick - it's natural just like the one on the 'bay. So maybe £150 is a bit steep or the one in sunny Nunny is a bargain. Mart
  15. Howdy Paul, How's Yorkshire? Cheers, Mart.
  16. Hello Sean, Nice intro....nice taste in music... The Epiphone JC's are great for that plummy sixties sound and are good value for money. The only reason I got rid of mine was that the band I'm in does lots of very noisy rock numbers and the poor thing struggled to cut through......still, mighty fine bass. Cheers, Mart
  17. Welcome Chop, There's nowt wrong with using picks, a lot of rock music sounds so much better when it's plastic on metal. Cheers, Mart (A fellow pickist)
  18. Hi mate, Got to agree with Chop, great name......made me smile. By the way, you've got a big house then Jean-Luc (looking at the size of your collection) Mart
  19. Welcome aido43, What kind of music do you play and is the Dublin live music scene still healthy? Mart.
  20. Hi shipmate, It feels like the SS Basstalk has hit an iceberg......she's sinking.....the liftboats are being launched.....some have already made it to the rescue ship the SS Basschat.....others still remain on the stricken ship.......time is running out for the passengers and crew of the ill-fated vessel.....can they all make it in time?....let's all pray they do......the world watches on....... Sorry, was that a bit over the top, Mart.
  21. Ayup...... CB radios were great fun until they made them legal...... I know they had to change the frequencies cuz they interfered with the emergencyservices and all that.......but.......well......anyway....hello Frank and hello Chop! Cheers, Mart
  22. Hello everybody, Am I destined to be a 'newbie' for the rest of my life.......or is this really the final destination for lovers of the low notes? Seriously.......well done to everyone concerned......love the new surroundings....... Now let's get chattin' Cheers, Mart.
