1. If I haven't got a gig I'll be there. My new Limelight '63 P bass might just have arrived by then
2. Some interesting trades offered but still available. Price drop to £1400.
3. Cheers, nice Jazz, shame I don't get on with skinny necks!
4. It really depends on what your line-up is. We have two guitars, Drums, Bass and keys. I've tried going straight into the desk and the amount of Bass seems to muddy the sound somewhat. Amp only and it gets a bit lost, so now I take the Amp and Di out into the desk. As Lozz above says, humping a 3K PA which is great quality but old and V heavy keeps my Chiropractor busy!
5. Lazy Sunday morning bump. All Pm's answered.
6. Thanks for the Pm's guys. For trades I'd only consider 4 string.
7. Only 60 of these made in commemoration of Megadeth's Rust in Peace tour of 20 something years ago. Made in the Fender custom shop, custom EMG's, beautiful ebony board, abalone inlays and active electronics. This one is in Quicksilver and is in mint condition, complete with certificate of authenticity signed by David. It also comes in a very cool G&C embroidered case. I had intended to gig this bass with my last band whose set suited it perfectly, but unfortunately the band folded before any gigging happened. My new band does much softer material and so playing Peter Frampton on the Jackson isn't quite right! I may trade for something more traditional, so please do ask. 8. As a 'Cellist myself I have to say that there's not much to touch JDP's '67 Elgar, except perhaps Natalie Klein's performance that she won BBC young musician of the year with. Both players of effortless technical ability but with a rare ability to 'connect' with the listener. Elgar's gift (most especially) to the British 'Cellist. ...and not forgetting the Dvorak Concerto, so distinctively Russian. Rostropovich made it his own. ....and then there's the Schubert Quintet in C Major (2 'Cello's).....the list goes on. I'm learning Evenflow -Pearl Jam atm, great track, but wondering whether that will still be popular in 100 years time??
9. Haim - Days are gone
10. Pino....that's it!
11. This would come up now when I've just been to Coda and bought something else!
12. Hi Mike, I also have a CVP and a MIM and a US P. I'll leave it to you to decide which one I prefer playing .......................... CVP..................!
13. ...and back
14. Hiya fella, I have a brand new out of the box only this Tuesday Schecter Omen Extreme Black Cherry that I bought from Sounds Live. It's a lovely thing but the neck is way too skinny for me. 2 band Eq. Lovely flame maple cap over mahogany body. Rosewood board with vector inlays. Cheers, LC
15. You have some killer basses Karl. I don't do maple boards but I'm loving those vector inlays - very classy! Good luck with it mate. LC
16. I really shouldn't like that....but I DO!! I have the rosewood hand stained, good Axe! LC
17. We use the Yamaha 600W system mentioned above, although we've swapped out the Yam speakers for Wharfedale's which produced a better sound. We've also just bought an Alto foldback speaker so the singer can hear himself. All in all, about £800 worth and plenty good enough for pub gigs with the kick drum micc'ed up. As has already been said, it can be problematic if the band owns the PA jointly. In our case, it belongs to me so if it all goes west - no issue.
18. I've been playing Josie and Deacon Blues (TABS on the Bassment website along with Kid Charlemagne and Peg). The bass line to Deacon Blues is one of Walter Becker's finest in my view and I'm using it with a pupil of mine. So many facets of bass playing in one song - just superb!
19. My CV Precision is a killer bass. Best £200 I ever spent!
20. I have the same model, great bass and nice finish which should improve with age. I'm with you on the pup as I'm pretty sure it's the standard not CS. LC
21. I love mine - best £200 you'll ever spend! (I prefer the torte guard personally)
