1. Hi Mike, I also have a CVP and a MIM and a US P. I'll leave it to you to decide which one I prefer playing .......................... CVP..................!
2. Hiya fella, I have a brand new out of the box only this Tuesday Schecter Omen Extreme Black Cherry that I bought from Sounds Live. It's a lovely thing but the neck is way too skinny for me. 2 band Eq. Lovely flame maple cap over mahogany body. Rosewood board with vector inlays. Cheers, LC
3. You have some killer basses Karl. I don't do maple boards but I'm loving those vector inlays - very classy! Good luck with it mate. LC
4. We use the Yamaha 600W system mentioned above, although we've swapped out the Yam speakers for Wharfedale's which produced a better sound. We've also just bought an Alto foldback speaker so the singer can hear himself. All in all, about £800 worth and plenty good enough for pub gigs with the kick drum micc'ed up. As has already been said, it can be problematic if the band owns the PA jointly. In our case, it belongs to me so if it all goes west - no issue.
5. I've been playing Josie and Deacon Blues (TABS on the Bassment website along with Kid Charlemagne and Peg). The bass line to Deacon Blues is one of Walter Becker's finest in my view and I'm using it with a pupil of mine. So many facets of bass playing in one song - just superb!

9. My CV Precision is a killer bass. Best £200 I ever spent!
10. I have the same model, great bass and nice finish which should improve with age. I'm with you on the pup as I'm pretty sure it's the standard not CS. LC
11. I love mine - best £200 you'll ever spend! (I prefer the torte guard personally)
12. That's lovely Mike. Good job I don't get on with maple boards!
13. Modes...now there's a thing! You are right Nige....a good teacher is everything! Enjoy mate.
14. Thanks for your good wishes Debs xx. Well audition over and it went well, I was happy with my playing and we did 10 ish numbers in all. Seem like a good bunch, unfortunately their singer couldn't make it (sore throat and sniffles) but we made do. I won't find out whether I got the gig for a few days as they have other players to see. ATM they have a dep covering their booked gigs (Rachel Lane) from Gloucester who is rather sh*t hot from what I can make out. Tough act to follow I guess. Anyway, it would be great to get in but there is always someone better than you out there. I'll let you know!
15.
Sounds like a great set from a bass player's perspective. Hope it goes well for you.
Thanks I'm really hoping I get the gig!
16. I prefer my CVP to my US P...says it all
17. I have an audition on Wed evening for a new band and they do some Steely Dan stuff, so I've been practicing Josie as they want to hear that on Wed. I also found the notation to Deacon Blues and have been going through that this evening among other things and I'm just blown away by that bass line!! It has everything, subtle key and time changes, chromatic stuff just so so well written. Some of the other stuff I've been learning for the audition in case you are remotely interested; A night like this - Caro Emerald. Never Forget You - The Noisettes. Upside Down - Paloma Faith. Long Train Running - Doobies. .....but man that Steely Dan!!!! Wish me luck!
18.
I did a transcription of that songs 2 years ago. You can find it here: http://four-strings-...-like-this.html
Cheers fella...that's a great help!
19. This is one of my audition tracks for this Weds and I can't find one anywhere. Having a tab/score would really cut my practice time down. Thanks Guys
20. get sentimental and keep it dude - your DNA is in it!
21. Lovely Bass and as a Precision fan right up my strasse. Some additional and more detailed pics would I'm sure help your cause tho. Good luck with it. LC
