1.
You could tell us Cardiff types about the gig in advance so we can come and support you!
I will do. Would be great to have some friends from here supporting. Thanks!!!!
2.
PM'ed for the pics then. best, bert
Since there appears to be a bit of interest here, I'll put some gig pics up in due course and you can see her in action as it were (with her permission naturally!) Then you'll all be jealous!!!! A rather satisfied LC
3. Bargain! Used to have one, good bit of kit
4. Thanks for all the positive comments guys - really appreciated! I'll let you know how the first gig goes, LC
5.
If you read the posts leading up to that moment, would you consider that an inaccurate accusation? Or am I missing something here??
PM'd
6. Apart from that one entirely inappropriate comment, I appreciate your views guys. The only song that she is struggling with at the mo is Under the Bridge - RHCP, and we might have to adjust the key on that one but the rest she's absolutely fine with. We've been playing the wrong landing chord at the end of the verse on Have a nice Day and she spotted that right away last Sat, so she knows her stuff. A good find I reckon.
7.
Appearance is irrelevant, that was uncouth and uncalled for.
....and calling me a pimp is suppose?
8.
pics of this rock chick
Erm...that'll be a £1 please!
9.
You should try the old Status basses with the totally rigid (no truss rod) graphite necks if you want to highlight any problems with your technique. I played one for nearly 20 years and it improved up my playing no end. The newer ones with a truss rod are a lot more forgiving. Fenders and other basses with one piece necks generally have a bit of flex in them and it seems to take a lot of the clatter and fret noise away. Multi laminate through necks always seem a bit toppier, my theory is that they're stiffer.
I know what you mean. My old Vigier had a very rigid neck and was very unforgiving in the dodgy fretting department! It did teach me to be a bit more precise though so no bad thing!
10. After a long search, we finally have a new singer in the shape of Katie - 20 years old and a proper 'rock chick, loads of personality and really likeable'! Auditioned her on Saturday and she came with the songs learned and can really belt them out! Great attitude, very musical and she 'fits in' (no prima donna attitude). So...looking forward to gigging with her out the front. She's been singing in bands since she was 14 so although still young, has a fair amount of experience and has some important venue contacts. Any other bands here with a female singer, how is it working for you? A lot of the songs we do will be arse about face gender wise but we don't see that as an issue. We've been very 'picky' about our singer and reckon we've got a cracker, but this has been after auditioning a lot of 'also rans', no shows and good old fashioned idiots. Happy Days, LC
11. At a potential £2500 - £3000 price point these will be in very esteemed company indeed and had better be very very good! I look forward to the inevitable review in BGM where they will no doubt be described as,,,,,,, "very very good"! I prefer the look of the Aria SB1000 reissue personally.
12. That's an absolute corker, if my MB rig had gone I'd be on it! Good luck in Dubai LC
13.
Nothings dropped off yet buddy!
Nice one dude! I think the build on mine is pretty decent but not quite as good as my old MIM Roger Waters which was immaculate or my new US P. For the coin, they are pretty hard to beat I reckon.
14. I've got the P version with the double stacked humbuckers and it does sound immense. Congrats on the purchase dude, what do you think of the build quality? LC
15. That's a stunner Col, pity I got nothing to trade! Good luck with it anyway,
16. A more detailed description of your bass and especially some clear pics will help your case enormously mate.
17. Lovely basses these, but you do need to state a price fella. Good luck with the sale.
18. Hi Guys, I could do the 2x10 for £250, the 1x15 with cover for £300 and the head and gig bag for £350. Cheers, LC
19. I'd been fancying one of these myself and did some research. Apparently, on the strap, the headstock makes for the floor? I'd be interested to know if that's the case.
20. I understand your frustration. We've been looking for a singer for about 4 months now and in that time we've auditioned a guy who sang really well at first rehearsal - got a txt later saying he couldn't join the band as he had clinical depression. A girl with a really nice voice but not powerful enough. A guy who'd been doing screamo and couldn't sing anything without screaming. A guy who sang really well at first rehearsal, got an e mail after telling us we had to change the set coz he didn't like it, we couldn't rehearse where we always do coz he didn't like it, if I was gonna do backing vocals then I had to learn them outside of rehearsal coz.....yes, you guessed it...coz he didn't like it. So, I've reluctantly been singing lead and playing bass to try and keep us all together. Patience is the answer, we had a reply to our ad recently a guy who has sung with the same band (who have just split) after 17 years, up and down the country and in Europe, loves our set, knows a lot of the material, appears keen as mustard and drinks Jack Daniels. I'll let you know if he's as good as he says he is!!!!!!
21. May trade for a Bass. Also, I'll drive this to you at no extra cost 'cept if your more than 200 miles away!
22. That's an impressive groove and she sure does feel it......fnah
23. I noticed that deal in this months Lozz (good article on Yolanda Charles). Since I'm giving the owner of the local shop lessons I can't bring myself to get BGM anywhere other than his shop!
