  1. Ashdown are on here, I`d message them re both queries, their customer service is excellent, I`m sure they`ll be able to assist: @Ashdown Engineering Edit - Merton got there first
  2. I did a gig yesterday and let the next band use my rig. The bassist had a great sound and told me afterwards that his bass was in for repair so he’d borrowed the bass he was using from his girlfriend, it apparently cost her £20. He said he liked it so much he might well carry on gigging it. Yes, maybe we do all get a little over concerned about the minutest detail. I do agree with @Stylon Pilsonthough, in the studio the quality gear will shine through.
  3. I’ll be the first - look at Barefaced cabs. One of their cabs will out perform either of the cabs mentioned, and be lighter as well so less hassle moving it around. Plus imo the combination of Markbass amp/Barefaced cab is a real winner.
  4. Dear Prudence by Siouxsie & The Banshees was a great cover, far better than The Beatles version imo.
  5. I was very impressed when I heard a Super Midget in action at the SE Bass Bash - amazing amount/size/depth of sound that little cab was putting out. Would be where my cash would go in similar circumstances (though very unlikely as although I have no trouble getting into sports cars, getting out is a different story).
  6. Too true sadly. To celebrate this we have a song called Are You Offended, which very catchily goes Are You Offended, Well F&ck You Too. It’s not clever, not subtle, so what. Sadly it’s - imo - the internet that’s a lot to blame tor this, people being so much braver sat at a keyboard than face to face. They can air opinions without comeback so suddenly find they have to tell everyone how everything in the world is offensive to them.
  7. Agree, plus as well as liking the song I really like the actual vid too, great imaging, simple but really effective.
  8. I found D’Addario Pro Steels to be very comfortable to play.
  9. In regards to insurance my fears are more for loss than damages, so try and make sure I follow the stipulations to the letter.
  10. I kind of know what you mean, my preference is for Fender Precisions with standard Fender spacing, whatever that is, but I can pretty much play what I need to on any bass. No idea what it was but at one bass bash there was a fanned fret 5 string and I was amazed at how quickly I adapted to it. Now I’m no virtuoso, don’t play anything remotely difficult so this may have a bearing on my opinion but although I have a preference any bass will do.
  11. I did and if I had a set static pedalboard that would have been my choice, but that’s not my set up so the WL20 got the vote.
  12. The WL-20 simulates having a cable in the signal line, so is more likely to replicate the sound of a regular set-up, whereas the WL-20L doesn`t simulate this, so is a more true sound. I went for the WL-20 so that the sound would be pretty much the same and have been very pleased with it. It`s a doddle to set-up, takes 10 seconds of pairing the two units together before plugging them into the bass/amp. Charging is nice & quick too.
  13. I watched some of your set, tried to catch some songs from all the bands but was protecting my ears for our set later on, what I saw/heard of yours was good. It was a great event, and as always the crowd there were - shall I say it due to it being Manchester - mad for it.
  14. There`s the FSR 70s Precision in natural, was one on here a bit back, not sure if gone now though. They turn up every now & then on the `bay as well.
  15. With the gear as described by the op I’d stick the Terror on flat eq, volume & tone on bass in full and go from there. The OTB has a wonderfully warm tone which should lend itself nicely to ska.
  16. Very interesting read that.
  17. I had a bit of a wait for them to deliver a guitar I bought last week. Their site said they attempted delivery on Friday but it was refused - oh no it wasn’t, the time stated my workplace was open and our reception was fully manned. Think they either couldn’t find the place or wanted an early finish. It took them til Thursday to finally get it to me.
  18. There’s a set of CS 62s on evilbay at moment, £75. Says ex The Beat but imo price isn’t inflated due to that.
  19. I’m similar in thinking that the steel grille is harder wearing, but saying that there are loads of Marshall 412s around without any tears in the cloth. If you look after gear it shouldn’t be a problem, especially if the only band playing.
  20. Yep, in the old Zoom B3 I used the Markbass sim when gigging with shared/provided rigs so I could get the sound of my Little Mark 3 to FOH. Heard a recording of one gig taken straight from desk and it was amazingly accurate to the Markbass sound.
  21. Ashdown and biscuits, like Anthony & Cleopatra, Richard Burton & Liz Taylor etc 🤣
  22. Our very own Bassix has one and in the mix it sounds great, neck pickup sounds very Precision-like, and both pickups together are classic Jazz bass.
  23. Fender Custom Shop 62, rich, warm, great low mids and doesn’t become too harsh when either a lot of hi-mids/treble/drive added.
  24. I may well look into getting Netflix just for this.
