  1. GuitarGuitar are doing the butterscotch/maple Fender Player Telecaster for £399. But I want a black/maple one.........
  2. Herebe us handsome chappies
  3. I do like that, Ian, really fits the band well.
  4. I’d say go for the good Jazz as that’s the instrument type you mainly gel with, and maybe later on get something like a Squier Classic Vibe Precision. I’ve done the same but in reverse, always worth having “the other” for a bit of flexibility.
  5. 999 Meg Still haven’t got a gig......
  6. Sounds great too.
  7. Yeah, we get regular payments from the online stuff but they’re small in comparison to CD & Vinyl sales. We also do a lot of online sales too.
  8. I do think Mono cases are expensive, but they’re good. There’s a real feeling of quality and solidity to them that for me says unless something really bad happens my bass is safe inside it. And that’s the main thing, plus as @dave_bass5 says, they have all the features I want. Although I have a cheapy Fender gig bag for my cheapy backup bass, my main basses only go in either a Mono gig bag or a Hiscox hard case.
  9. I was in a punk covers band with the singer/guitarist and he mentioned that he’d like to do an originals punk band. We already knew the drummer we wanted, who was playing in another local punk/new wave covers band so asked him and he said yes. Set about learning the material - the singer/guitarist had about 5 songs recorded just by him on a home studio, with drum machine - and I had to tell them at the first rehearsal that I’d struggled as could find no enthusiasm for it. But then we started playing and totally changed my mind. It just had the power and energy that I love. So I’d say to any musician looking to join a band, give it a go in a rehearsal studio, don’t be put off by recorded material, I nearly was and if I’d not gone ahead I wouldn’t have had the best six years of my musical life.
  10. Yep, and go nicely with the 115 already scored.
  11. Especially so, considering their links with The Jam. Apparently when they reformed a while back they went down really well. Annoyingly they were on that bit too late at Rebellion for me to see them.
  12. And there is a mod that can be done to put a horn in the NY121 rather than the Piezo.
  13. I think in general it’s due to just having decent people on here. Of course there are people with differing opinions on a wide range of subjects but in the main we’re a decent bunch. In the recent thread about the upcoming election myself and a few others had differing views but on a thread I posted about having to leave my band a good few of those members put some very nice comments up. I think it’s maturity, we accept that we may disagree at times but unlike the modern trend don’t let it feed resentment.
  14. Agree, if someone finds an instrument they gel with, and learn to play it, irrespective of make or technique then well done to them. 1 - Nowt wrong with an Epi Les Paul, some of them are great guitars, virtually all of them are good. 2 - Plectrums, add Bruce Foxton & JJ Burnell into the mix, neither are particular slouches in bass, and using a plec doesn’t seem to have held them back.
  15. That’s why I chose the M80 over the Vertigo, if not using the straps nice to have the option to pack them away.
  16. I’ve no experience of the 102HF but the CMD121 & NY121 together makes a much bigger sound than would be expected, the addition of the NY really makes a difference, much fuller and richer sounding.
  17. Well I do get all my eq from my Para Driver which is a DI pedal so FOH would have been ok but the monitoring wouldn’t have coped, ok for vox but nothing else.
  18. Nice one and nice to see another band that links those two songs.
  19. I’ve put these on my US Precisions, never had a problem before I knew of them, just figured it’s a safeguard worth having, seeing as the A is known as being pesky for some.
  20. Quite agree on pretty much all of that. I remember being on the covers band circuit and coke-heads just made it a major pain. As you say they don’t usually become aggressive, just annoying.
  21. At the gig I did last night the soundman was old-school, miked the cabs up, no DI-big. So if there hadn’t been a cab.....
  22. Played a benefit gig for The British Heart Foundation last night, in Hereford. We knew a good few of the bands playing so nice to socialise with them. We were the headliners and both the singer and myself have the lurg at present - cough/cold - so we were a bit concerned about vox, however all was fine, we played well and the audience really enjoyed it. Big shout out to 4 youngsters who were there all day, up & dancing to all the bands apparently (where do they get their energy from) and an even bigger shout out to the organisers Raff & Sam, over £500 raised for a very good cause. Got home at 3:15, so rather tired today, zzzzzzzzz.
  23. We sell a lot of CDs, but the majority of the people who like our music are 40 plus. I think it’s the audience that determines the format of how the music should be sold, and up to the artists to realise that.
  24. Not played one but I saw a bassist using one at a gig and it had a really nice sound, so much so that I went and asked her what bass it was. Difficult to describe as it was now a few years back but do remember thinking at the time her sound was great.
  25. That’s what I’ve done with my one, Si. The Players are really good basses, congrats on both.
