  1. Hearing Pretty Vacant by The Sex Pistols was pretty much the same for me.
  2. Big time apparently, might be worth contacting Watford Valves for their advice.
  3. It’s not a ukulele, it’s an anteater!
  4. I haven’t but I’ve gigged with both the Ashdown RM500 and ABM600 into 8ohm cabs, so only getting approx half power, in a punk band and never even come close to pushing the volume on either. Admittedly my gear was only for stage volumes but unless your band is incredibly loud I think it should be fine.
  5. And there’s me feeling guilty cos I have 2 Precisions & 2 Jazzes. Lesson learned, need to buy more basses, thanks 😊
  6. I’ve been fortunate enough to make some great friends through music, share stages with bands I watched on the TV as a kid, and visit places that in all likelihood I might not have had the opportunity to without gigging, Colditz Castle in Germany being the main one. Best hobby in the world imo, I’m not a particularly sentimental person but I’m sure that at times in my life music has kept me going/given me that boost I needed, probably without knowing it.
  7. Agree, I currently have a herd of instruments that I want to move on but as they don’t have hard cases it’s collection only, so given current lockdown rules I’ll have to wait until it’s over before putting them up for sale.
  8. Ah, not so do bad then, I thought you’d been seduced by the dark side.
  9. Spot on, we always did this, why not get paid for performing your own songs.
  10. Got it today, just put it through an hour or so of playing along to songs on YouTube. First impressions are it’s a heavy, quality piece of kit, like all Ashdown gear imo the sound on its own is ok but in the mix it excels, and that the drive is far too much for my needs. I can get a just breaking up sound from it though, so it’s not unusable. I think for my classic rock band it will be the ideal backup on a pedalboard option, but certainly home use is where it’s at for me, I get that great sit in the mix Ashdown sound at home volumes. Later on I might get the valve changed as others have but no rush. Edit - what I forgot to mention was the fact that even boosting the treble & high mids the sound doesn’t get harsh, there’s obviously a greater definition when they’re boosted but none of the brittleness you can get with some pedals - and indeed, amps. The sound has that warm “spongey” feel to it that comes with valves, and the D & G strings don’t sound thin in comparison to the E & A, always a good sign of a great piece of kit. So far I’ve tried it with a Precision with CS62 pickups, a Jazz with CS62 pickups and a Precision with Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounders. Once I’d established a core sound I’ve found it can be pretty much left alone and each bass sounds great in its own right.
  11. I have two basses (Precision & Jazz) for home use, and the same again for live. They’re all worth the same amount, it’s just that my home use Precision has too much sentimental value to take out, and I do like to only use my band basses with the band to keep the strings as fresh as possible. Daft and expensive method, but it suits me doing it this way.
  12. I’ve no experience of the new Terror but there is a world of difference between the ABM500 & 600. Yes they have the same core sound but the 600 is much clearer on the eq, way more versatile and a lot louder.
  13. I can’t see you being disappointed, they’re great amps.
  14. These look pretty interesting: http://www.samsontech.com/news/hartke-introduces-new-lightweight-hydrive-hl-series-bass-cabinets/
  15. We made loads of sales online from our website, I suppose possibly genre and age of the fans might be factors, but do your own promo properly, via facespace/twatter etc, and you reap the rewards.
  16. From the band’s website, if they’re set up for this. Our drummer used to visit his local PO pretty much on a daily basis with our on-line sales.
  17. Nice
  18. Agree, having had both the iv has so much more about it in pretty much every aspect.
  19. Another great track
  20. Def, really enjoyed that, one of my fave ever songs.
  21. My CD of Tinderbox by SLF has the wrong track-listing on it, was apparently issued for a radio station. It’s a great CD irrespective.
  22. That’s a good point about TB, well done @Cuzzie & Sir Tom.
  23. No, what I meant was, in time hopefully that will be the case, when it can be managed better. Of course at present it’s still deadly and needs to be treated so. Remember it’s less than a year old and already the vaccine is available, hopefully in time it will be an illness that can be managed once we have a greater knowledge on how to effectively treat it. We’ve made huge advances in a short space of time, and I think the thoughts that it will always be here are realistic, let’s hope with greater knowledge it can be controlled and maintained in the way other killer diseases/infections have been over the years.
