I’ve done this a fair bit and never any problems.

For years I had practice amps with 8” speakers, Fender Rumble 15, Marshall MB15, Ampeg BA108, Ashdown After Eight, all perfectly good enough for home use, I’d happily have any of those amps again. And all of them would have been too loud to use at home if on full volume.

I’ve had one amp sort of stop working. A Marshall MB450 two-channel head, Modern solid state channel and a valve in the preamp Classic channel. I always used the Classic and at a gig it stopped working, switched over to Modern to get through the gig, turned out to be the valve had worked its way loose so an easy fix.

Yeah that drop C# needs separate guitars/basses imo. We did a few of their songs for a while but just not doable by tuning down/up on same instrument. And the songs just don’t have the same feel if played in standard tuning.

I`ve tried flats many times, never got what I wanted from them, though as the material I play now is different I might well try them again.

I’ve heard one (the 500 combo) in a pretty loud band where it was very impressive, and I have one myself, the 800 combo, but have been - to my shame - too lazy to actually use it yet. Maybe this week’s rehearsal if not raining.

Yes, happened twice with me, both a good few years back. Was originals in both cases as well, so I couldn’t practice in advance. In both cases I ended up joining the bands.

Just got back from a Spacewasters gig at The New Cross Inn, SE London. Was a three day psychobilly event, we are on that scene but really aren’t psychobilly at all, more like a rock n roll/garage punk type band. Great crowd for a Sunday afternoon, place was heaving when we got there at 5:30. We were on at 6:30 for a 40min set and it went great. No soundcheck, just linecheck but that’s fine with us. The venue provide full backline aside from snare & cymbals which makes things nice and easy, my CIJ Fender Mustang going into an Orange 4-Stroke amp & 410 cab. We played really well, great audience reaction, excellent on stage sound. Gigs like this really make being in a band all that more fun.

Nice one, I bet you’re really pleased, there’s one particular bass I’d like to get back but it went mid-90s so doubt I’d stand any chance at all.

I use regular long scale on my Fender Mustang basses which have thru-body stringing.

Couple of things I’d be looking at, are strings you’ve put on the Ibby the same as those on the HB, and is the fretboard radius the same. These two factors can really make a difference, strings especially.

Great idea, sadly I can’t contribute re basses, none of mine anywhere near that age - did used to have one of those Kay Rickytypers though.

I`ve always liked the Tonehammer but wished that I could get drive on the non AGS channel as I preferred the core sound of that.

I’ve not had the Jazz V-Mods but did have the Precisions. For me they lacked character in comparison to the CS62s.

I’ve never had a bass with that much gunk on it but I’ve always used lemon oil, either on rosewood or maple boards, and it’s always worked nicely.

My only very small critique is remove the ` from either side of Mature - to me, and possibly others, it adds emphasis to that aspect above the others.
