2.
I've played Spectors & have liked them, but they're a bit of a leaden tool, rather like a Precision. The TRB will do almost everything, and the Spector is mainly a rock bass with it's aforementioned punch.
Tell that to Doug Wimbish, Reinie Press (Neil Diamond), Chuck Rainey, Leigh Foxx (Blondie), Dean Jarvis (Nelly Furtado), Graham Maby (Natalie Merchant/Joe Jackson etc), Aaron Mills (Outkast) etc etc etc etc..... The Yamaha is a great bass.... very solid and workmanlike with a great tonal range, but like Homer says.... the Euros are phenomenal basses, great value for money and have amazing build quality/components...
3. Up until a couple of years ago I owned a 1969 Gibson Les Paul Custom 3pu which was owned & played live by Ace Frehley of KISS between 1979 & 1980. It had a slightly burnt pickup surround (swapped off one of his smoking guitars) and had been customised by him with pearloid tuners, DiMarzio Super Distortion pu's etc.... It was also signed, in a signed original Gibson case and came with a signed pic of him at the point of sale.... Twas a lovely piece of classic rock n roll memorabilia but I got a cash offer I couldn't refuse....
4. Wow... that white Jazz is THE NUTS!! Congrats I've been wanting that exact bass for a while.... that's definitely next on the GAS list!
5.
is that serious?
Why not? It's a supremely solid bit of bass playing....

8.
I play a Spector Legend 4 bass.
Good man...
9. Sorry mate but tickets are availble at Ticketmaster right now for £20 each + booking fees.... I'm sure they'll sell quickly though!
10. Lovin' the '75 Jazz....
11. John Giblin on some of the old Kate Bush stuff...
12. Liam is such a tosser....
13.
I guess it's the Marmite factor..... you love them or hate them.... I'm the same with U2 and Oasis
Aye, I don't mind the odd bit of U2 but Oasis are IMHO quite dreadful....
14. I guess you can predict my answer...... but I'd probably swap out the preamp....
15. Nice guitar playing, dull song, dreadful singer..... sorry, I just DON'T get it....
16.
I've got an Ampeg SVT-3 PRO and it's been great for the last 9 years, but I think you need to choose the cabs very carefully. It works really well with Mesa Boogie cabs
Amen to that..... my SVT-3 Pro sounds immense with my Mesa 2x15EV! Highly underestimated amp..... but be aware that some of the knobs work in the reverse way to you would expect!
17. Nope it's not. We're all looking for him.... Stuart wants one of his basses back from him....
18. I found it all terribly disappointing and uninspiring.... much like most recent Jools shows. I enjoyed Estelle's bassist but, though obviously talented, he was far too busy... The less said about The Only Ones, The Black kids etc.... the better. James Taylor was the only shining light.... soul, groove, feel, depth and talent.... hence the longevity....
19.
Who was the big stocky american with blonde hair that worked at the Bass Centre in the late 90's when it was at Wapping??? Is that Nick or Alex or somebody else??
I believe his name was 'Grant' and he may have been Canadian...
20. Sound Control are now stocking Laklands. The London Oxford St branch has a red Bob Glaub, a blue Darryl4 and a white Darryl5 in stock....
