Anyone else here use GB?
I'd like to.... but am waiting to see their great new product being released in the New Year.... Bump for this great amp!
2. Love the Lakland, the Wal & the Eagle!! Great stuff Nik!
3. Personally, I really like the look of the Aerodyne with the trays/covers!
4.
I can't think of one resolution that I need to make. I think most stuff I have managed to achieve before Christmas! lol!!
I can! Dood.... you have to sell me your black Jap Fender P bass!
5. If you keep the amp eq flat and do the rest with the eq on the bass it works fine.... and sounds incredible! It is a reasonably common complaint though... You could always get one and swap out the Tonepump for the standard EMG circuit or EMG BTC controls...?
6. Take full advantage of my endorsement and buy another 'custom order' Spector at a knock down price! Get back to basics and buy 2 nice Jap reissue Precision basses.... one for flatwounds, one for roundwounds...
7. VERY nice! Congrats! Never fancied one myself, but I played a similar one a few years ago and it had a LOVELY feel
8.
Ahh- so it's you. Much admiration for your band!
Thank you kind Sir!
9.
If I could swap it for an EA CXL112L I'd be all over it
Sorry mate...... ....but I would swap it for a new condition Olympic White CIJ 70-78US Fender Precision, a cream CIJ 62RI Fender Precision or a Vintage White/maple CIJ 75-100US Fender Jazz......
10. Cheers Ped! Yes, it really is a VERY transparent sounding cab. No matter what head you put through it.... it seems to compliment them all! I've heard it with heads by Mesa, Tech 21, Ampeg, SWR, GJ and Trace.... and they ALL sound great. Bold, full & rich whether going for a cutting hi-fi tone or old school flatwound thump. It is reasonably heavy.... but easily transportable thanks to the wheels and side-handles. The original EV loaded cabs like this are VERY desirable as the EV's p*ss on the more recent celestion etc replacements.... I'm VERY surprised noone has snapped this up yet for this price! Must be the time of year, financial restraints etc....
11. VERY nice collection....
12. Thanks for all the good points, chaps! CIJ it is then.... Time for a clearout to fund perpetual GAS...
13. Been looking around for a good 70's style reissue P-bass in white & have narrowed it down to the following: PB70-78US Crafted in Japan Alder Maple w/rosewood board Vintage US pickups Spiral vintage bridge Olympic White Approx £430 inc all taxes etc from Ishibashi or Highway One Precision (upgrade) 70's logo etc US made Alder Maple w/rosewood board Vintage US pickups 'Greasebucket' tone circuit (rolls off highs without adding bass) Badass II bridge Last one of limited run of 100 in Transparent White Approx £625 in all taxes etc from US dealer Any thoughts on which would be better, is better value, will hold/gain value etc.....? Thanks!
14. I completely agree with the original poster. Would add though that I don't have a problem with BIN items being linked....
15.
Ones a rarely seen unloved bit of tat,the other is a Gibson Firebird bass.
Actually, one is a rarely seen but MUCH loved bass guitar.... the other is a Gibson Non-Reverse Thunderbird...
16. Sounds a bad deal to me. I never do a door split for less than 70%band/30% venue. If you can't get that, then take a guarantee.
17.
The coolest person ever to pick up a Ripper... Rick Danko.
Surely you mean Peter Cetera
18.
I recently watched some Bass solo vid's on Youtube and I was suprised by how much they did NOT interest me.I feel like a traitor to bass players everywhere.I found I did'nt get off on extra fast shredding,or two hand taps.Slap by Wooten, sorry, not for me.I'm more impressed by a good groove or run in a song.I know that I will get some flak for this but I feel its time to come clean;to me bass is supportive.
Amen to all of that. Couldn't agree more.....
19. Aye, Fernandes basically copied (*nicked*) the Spector headstock & crown inlays in making this 'Nikki Sixx Spector' copy....
20. Oooo.... that ash bodied Precision is lovely. I'd be all over that if I hadn't just put my name down for a different Precision.... Good luck with the sale! These two shouldn't be up for long....!
21.
I was in the bass cellar (Denmark St.) the other day and they have a white/black 70s CIJ for £799 That's more than i paid new for my USA model
Yep, they sure know how to price competitively eh? You can save £360 on that by buying direct from Ishibashi...!
22. Some great basslines..... and a killer tone. He generally used the same basses live & in the studio..... his Spectors and an old P-bass.
