Fernandes 'Spector Nikki Sixx' Thunderbird - *SOLD*
cetera replied to cetera's topic in Basses For Sale
Cheers chap.... yep, it's a goodie... and a rare 'un!! I'm temporarily withdrawing this.... I've got a potential buyer for this who I'll be meeting end of next week (and I'm offline from this weekend until next Friday). If he doesn't come through this will be back up for sale in a fortnight's time.... -
I can definitely recommend the Genz Benz Neox212T..... a GREAT 2x12 cab, 600w @ 4ohms, tweeter and ports, lightweight, handles and wheels...... full range sound with no shortage of low end, punchy mids or sparkling highs! By default I would therefore also recommend the Neox112T (the 1x12 version)
What is this then? Is it like the Aphex Bass exciter?
Yep, that sort of idea. BBE were the originators of this sort of thing.... All your notes sound tighter, fuller and more dynamic and you can vary the amount of bite and/or low end.... Every time I turn my one off the sound just loses an element of it's 'excitement'!

Lovely purchase..... Tyler instruments have an outstanding reputation!

These units are WONDERFUL! Once used you'll wonder how you ever survived without it!!! It seems to bring your bass alive, rejuvenate dead strings and more......! It puts back the punch and clarity in your sound that leads etc suck out.... I bought this as a spare because I love mine so much....... but actually it's just sat around gathering dust and should be out there being enjoyed by someone! Spec is available on the website but it is pretty much idiot proof. A&B in and out and 2 dials on the front to boost lows/highs with a 'process on/off' pushbutton switch. This unit is NOT just for bass guitar..... it sounds superb on guitars, as part of an overall PA system and even used with your home Hi-Fi! There are loads of reviews out there just Google or visit Harmony Central. SOLD

As I've had a few new basses come in recently I've decided it's time to move one on to pay some of it off.... So, as I have two of these, I have decided to let one go..... Back in 1987 Nikki Sixx of Motley Crue asked Stuart Spector to build him a few reverse and non-reverse Thunderbird shaped custom bass. He went on to use them on the Girls, Girls, Girls & Dr Feelgood tours into the early 90's... Gibson sent a cease & desist order which prevented more than a couple of extra Spector 'Nikki Sixx' basses getting out into the public arena for purchase. However, Fernandes in Japan, who were making excellent basses in this period, decided to make a limited run of their own copy of the 'Spector Nikki Sixx' for the Japanese domestic market. This didn't last long as they were then in turn sent a cease & desist by Spector! What we have here is one of those very limited Fernandes 'Nikki Sixx' Spectorbird basses.....! This bass is black, with a 32" scale thru neck, solid gold-coloured bridge and active Fernandes P/J pickups. The gold-coloured machineheads appear to be Gotoh-alikes and the controls are simplicity itself..... there's just one.... and it's a volume control for both pickups together! The instrument input is front mounted (like a Strat) and the neck has the legendary Spector 'crown' inlays. The bass plays nicely and has a clear, punchy tone particularly suited to 'rock' music. It balances very well on a strap and is a real eyecatcher!!! Condition is generally very good but, being a 15 year old bass, there are a few scratches and a few dings - particularly on the body edge. The finish on the bridge and machineheads has also suffered from the usual oxidisation seen in an instrument of this age. *SOLD*

Ampeg 810E Questions and Sansamp Bass Driver....buying soon!
cetera replied to Musicman20's topic in Amps and Cabs
Forget the 8x10. Get a Bergantino NV610. Lighter, cheaper (from BassDirect) and much better (Check online reviews).... The standard SansAmp should do the trick for what you need.... -

Spector Tone pump FT
Hmmmmmmmm! I emailed Spector to see if it was a recognised problem and they just said that they would send another out to me I bought the bass 2nd hand but there was no questioning about age of bass etc, just standing by their product. Now that is what I call customer service. I will be duly bigging them up in the main chat section at a later date. Thanks for the other suggestions.
Why do you think I swear by them? An amazing customer-orientated company.... -
Nice changes..... and I STILL want your white jazz!!! Aaarghhhh! GASSSSS!!!!!
-
Very tempting..... but they'd be a LOT MORE tempting if they offered them in Olympic White as well..... and with the option of maple board/white blocks...!!

If only we were all rewarded with 'sausages and beer' after auditions!! lol! Congrats!
It wasn't the second series of Rock School was it? That was filmed in my home town, which may have meant that you got the opportunity to visit sunny Lowestoft. It was so bizarre seeing one of my bass heroes wondering around the town that I grew up in...
Nah.... it was the first series in Christ's Hospital School in Horsham, Surrey.... We missed out on the 'delights' of Lowestoft!

Check out the Spector EuroLX 5.... Lovely tight B string, comfy contours, superb tone etc etc....
That's too cool - looks like so much fun! And judging from your profile photo, you've met the man himself? Kudos for the fire-breathing - must take some balls to do that!
It is GREAT fun, but very hard work.... Yep, I've met him quite a few times..... that pic was taken when he asked us to appear on his TV programme 'Rock School'.... The firebreathing is actually quite easy when you know how.... but it's still VERY dangerous. I was taught by a stuntman/circus performer.... Makes for a novel way to light the BBQ at parties! lol!
That would explain all the Gene Simmons models in your signature Seriously, that's such a cool gig - in terms of costumes, do you cover the full range of eras? Gene's Destroyer and Dynasty outfits looked pretty difficult to play in! Do you do the full fire/blood thing as well?
Yep, we wear the 'Love Gun/Reunion' era outfits (7" heeled monster headed boots etc) and I spit blood & breathe fire! Tis GREAT fun...... and da laydeez LOVE it!
