1. Pink Stingray 5 I've heard was the way he got that killer Warwick tone too, not all but some of his recordings and live too apparently.
2. One problem I do get is this, you get a text with a few possible dates for gigs, you reply right away with the ones you can do but hear nothig back, a few weeks or even months later, "ok I'll be at the venue for about 6.30 on Saturday", venue? Saturday? what's all this? "I did text you" I can't keep every possible date free just from an enquiry. Same as "can you send me all your free dates?", err no.
3. I'm waiting for JTUK to tell us all his guys must be on 24/7 call via, email, mobile, skype, landline, whatsapp and BlackBerry messenger or they won't get past the first stage in his "pick up gig" selection process! Ha
4.
Another bassist drummer here. When drumming I always turn up early, even for rehearsals, so I am often the first to be ready to play. Also means I can claim my space on the stage.
If you were a full time drummer it would be "claim all the stage".
5. We have one of those jam nights here, run by a 'star' of yesteryear, "do you know who I am" kind of guy, I never go as it takes too much arse licking to get up to do a 12 bar for my liking.
6.
Bass for me. It the only piece of kit you improve on the more you use it. You can't rehearse or learn anything from an amp or cab..
I'd have to disagree here, I think a lot of the people who keep swapping and changing amps and cabs around are looking for a magic fix, if they stuck to one that was essentially good fur a while they'd get used to what all the knobs do, one of the big advantages of a head and cab over a combo are the ability to take the head to practices and use the provided cab to "learn" how it works without lugging your own cabs every week.
7.
Bloody hell, you don't half play hard ball with the Tickled Trout.
8. Is it any good for metal?
9.
I really like it I'm a sucker for a little chrome. Great shout, thanks - I'll email him today. The prices on the site look more in my range.
I like the chrome but I don't like the way a jazz plate ends against nothing when you have no pick guard if you know what I mean?
10.
Just the SR5 for gigs. Nothing comes close. Edit: nothing I have or have played.
No need for the edit
11.
How about using a wireless system? Anyone use one on DB?
Erm..."without a wireless pack" Marc
12. I really like the stereo lead solution, I'm just thinking that the OP could put the clicky wire inside the bass by drilling a tiny hole behind the finger board and back out maybe near the tail to meet the bridge pickup or even wire them both back to a stereo Jack socket on the body somewhere?
13. I think it depends how expensive your bass is, drillable or not?
14. I'd want it rear routing, I'm not a fan of the 'floating' jazz control plate?
15. Yep perfect for that mate.
16. Part of the fun of playing live is trying to put the drummer off with off beat notes, reggae fills and general knobing around, when that goes well that's when the audience enjoy watching it!
17. Ha, looks like it! Zoooom
18. Yes, that's what I'm saying ^
19. I think it depends on who's more dominant between the bassist and drummer in the band, I've played in bands where I'd dig in and dominate where the count is and I've played with drummers that rarely drop a beat that would either sort themselves out without thinking about it or if it's gone to crap they've took the dominant roll and squared it back up. As long as you have someone in the band that takes control then it's fine. Just like jam nights, you need at least one person in each group that knows the song if the rest are jamming.
20. No I'm saying to bring your existing kit up to match the RCF ones you would need to add subs.
21. Glare at the drummer so everyone else knows it was their fault
22. Looking at the specs the Aguilar ag500 has 40hz shelving anyway.
23.
£2,250 for that bass, what a rip-off! That's a lot of money considering you can buy a new one @ Esse Music for €1900 (£1690): http://www.essemusic.it/EN/Electric-Basses/Music-Man/Stingray-Classic-4-white-perloid-Rw/
That's cheap for a classic of any type tbf, a natural 4 string is £2100 at GAK.
24. I wanted the white when I bought mine (jazz v) but they were sold out everywhere! I really like mine but I have stuck a bartolini preamp in it
