Pubs and venues to be protected from noise complaints
stingrayPete1977 replied to Cliff Edge's topic in General Discussion
Oh we love it over here, it's standard practice to buy a house by a school and complain about the noise at playtime, buy a house next to a main road then start a campaign to stop it being used by lorries. The most common one is to buy a house with little or no parking and then leave notes on legally parked cars asking them not to park outside in "their space". -

I saw the other day that permission has been given to build homes next to Donnington park, wait until the idiots complain about the airport, motor racing and music festivals after moving in. They should have to sign a legal document confirming that they've been made aware and no complaints can be lodged for at least 100 years. -
At some point the Jools Holland and Glastonbury threads will merge. How many years of complaining about the mix or the acts do people endure before they realise it's not compulsory or legally binding to watch either of them?

The massive crowd appeared to enjoy it and that's what counts over a few grumpy bass players.
-
For me he never could.

Just don't watch or listen to the media, watch the acts and either enjoy them or don't, that's as deep as it goes for me. Maybe I'm becoming like our own member Douglas Dad3353 as the years go by, maybe I'll plant some radishes.

I think that's exactly what he wanted to do, put on a show. The majority of us here would be really happy if 100 people came to a gig and enjoyed it and wouldn't even think about that being the time to stop, if thousands of people go home happy after your gig still then why stop? If you are bringing joy to people I say carry on if you want.

The Rod set was perfect IMO, I've seen him live and he takes a few songs to warm up vocally, you get exactly what you'd expect and nothing less, he's of an era where you put on a show rather than walk around to a backing track.

Alanis was great, Chilis weren't bad, Nirvana I'm not so sure about. I'm watching it a bit at a time. -

I didn't notice Pat's guitar tbh, I won't be going back to check though, probably best left in the past. -

I'm not sure what St Vincent was doing tbh, she was having in ears issues to start with but was she trying to play around with the timing to be cool, couldn't really hear her very well. -

Just to add, how is Kim Gordon 71 but looks younger than me in my 40s? 😵 -
Just watching this now and love him or hate him it just shows how hard it is to cover Kurt's vocal parts. I remember watching the Nevermind episode of classic albums on the BBC and Butch Vig played the raw vocals and he explained that the tone of his voice led people to think Kurt couldn't sing in tune because his voice broke up in the way usually found in out of tune singers, like myself, (He explained it better!). When you expected it to go out of tune it didn't, then he'd go up a few gears and it was more gruff and raucous but still in tune. Always nice to see Pat and Krist enjoying themselves though.
