  1. Each to their own, but I don’t see the attraction. Incredible value? Just browsing the web site I see a fairly ordinary Fender-a-like 4 string for $3250 featuring Hipshot/Nordstrand - and that’s their 2020 pricing! Would be interested to know what that works out to once it’s been imported. There’s a few other basses I would rather spend my money on and I would be more impressed if you wanted to support small builders in the UK rather than the USA. But hey, it’s your money.
  2. If I was after another Jazz type bass, I wouldn't be looking across the Atlantic for it that's for sure. It depends what you're after, but there are options here. Classic & Cool Guitars can build you a J (I had this Precision built by them recently) or if you need something a little more shiny, maybe contact Shuker or build it yourself. I built the Jazz in my sig from bits and pieces and its every bit as good as the Fender CS it was based on. I haven't played much else since.
  3. I had heard about it, but haven’t listened to it yet. I’ll check it out. These popped up in my feed the other day. Made me laugh....
  4. I made it through January unscathed 🥳
  5. Is there anyone else on Basschat into these? They are a series of six live albums issued in limited editions recorded during the 90’s and being released piece meal through 2020 and 2021. I knew the fourth one was coming out soon and kept checking the page on Bowie’s site for updates. Typical that during the couple of days last week I failed to check, it was announced for pre-order and has sold out almost instantly. To say I’m p’d off is an understatement. I know I could stream it, but that’s not the point. I really would like the CD. It’s called ‘Look At The Moon - Live from The Phoenix Festival ‘97’. If anyone has extra copies pre-ordered (I suspect that is why it has sold out so quickly) and is willing to part with one for not silly money, you would make a fellow Bowie collector very happy indeed. They ship on the 12th of Feb.
  6. I have to be honest, I would probably give Jamulus a try, but literally everyone I’m rehearsing with on line is using JamKazam and now they’re settled with how it works, I think it will be a struggle getting them to swap.
  7. I stick both through my Scarlett.
  8. In your humble opinion. You’re probably right though 😎.
  9. Full disclosure, I actually did consider buying the pink sparkle HH when it first arrived at Bass Direct. It would have suited my 80’s band perfectly, but I wasn’t prepared to drop £2,799 (I think) at the time. I saved the picture to my photos.
  10. If you find yourself wanting to give JamKazam a try, just message me and I’ll get myself on line whenever you have a spare moment mate.
  11. That pretty much sums it up for me 👏👍.
  12. Depends on the job at hand really. I started many years ago as exclusively pick, then went the other way and now use both depending what is called for. When I do use a pick it’s Dunlop Tortex blue (1.0.mm) or the yellow ones, whatever size they are.
  13. Mmm, not sure what the minimum requirement is. You can try it for free though.
  14. Sounds like both are suitable for you. As far as I know, you have authorise your camera to switch on during a session, so it can't be forced on by anyone else if that's your worry.
  15. Ahh, now that brings back memories....
  16. Don't know about Jamulus, but you can have a video feed for JamKazam if you want it, but it contributes to latency, so we don't use it.
  17. I've found JamKazam to be better since it went to the subscription based service.
  18. No, I love it and I’ve been recording myself a lot during lockdown. I spent most of yesterday trying to get a decent take of Footloose. I knew it was going to be a bit of a challenge, but after more than a few takes, I managed something fairly close to the dots I have. Listening back to it, I identified a couple of bits I need to work on, but I think it’s a good learning tool.
  19. What are you after? Just clocked you said ‘jazz style’ rather than specifically a jazz bass.
  20. I don't think it would be that difficult to get the same for considerably less that in the UK.
  21. The stupid thing, I didn’t want a custom finish. I wanted to order a bass with options they did provide, but not on the same bass. No build code = no bass. Told them what I thought and went elsewhere.
  22. Mmm, I have had conversations with them that proved otherwise. I knew exactly what I wanted and they refused. The customer isn’t always right apparently.
  23. Quite possibly. I wonder if Lee Pomeroy is on here 😂.
  24. I think it could be for ease of live performance, but as I said before, it’s been that way since at least 2013, so wasn’t just for Glasto. Just strikes me as odd.
