Aha, a brief search online gave me this: "The Bass Buddy works best with headphones between 16-60ohms"
-
Excellent topic @ped and thanks for taking the time to put this up. Whilst I'm not unhappy with my current ones, they are getting a bit battered and due to a change in my home set up, I now need cans with a longer cable. I was about to fork out for the Phil Jones H-850's, but I read some reviews that slated the construction of them and that put me off. Basschat to the rescue! My only question is, which impedance? I'll be using with my Phil Jones Bass Buddy, which seems to be made of far sturdier stuff than the H-850's! There's a slight difference in price between the different versions, but not much. P.S. How long is the cable?

Ah, welcome back. You said 'what to buy next'. What bass(es) do you have already and what do you like/dislike about them? -

The OP hasn’t been back since the topic was opened, so we’re all talking amongst ourselves for the time being 😂. -
Fixed 😂.

Really like that @ped - thanks for sharing. The tone reminded me a little of this, which I love. Not sure who it is or what bass is being played, but I know I like it. EDIT: Dug my CD out and it's Peter Carter on bass. Doesn't really add anything as I don't know anything else he's done 🤷♂️.

Well, I’m glad I’ve provided some amusement for you. Not sure there was quite the need for the tone you’ve used, but yes, it does highlight that we all have different minds.
-
To my mind, there are basses with 5 strings and then there are 5 string basses. The one I suggested is definitely the latter. I would argue that if a deal could be reached with the seller that the OP would lose less (if anything if he felt he wanted to re-sell) than buying a new budget 5’er. I’d have it in a heartbeat, but I don’t need it.
-
I know it’s way out of the budget you have posted, but this 5 string will be a belter and if you don’t get on with it, you won’t lose much, if anything. @Doodwill no doubt confirm. As for the muscle memory thing, you’re just gonna have to suck it up, but it can be done. I swap between 4’s and 5’s, sometimes mid set and it is something you get used to.

Basses For Home, Basses For Live

Ha ha. ‘Yamaha screams cheap’ made me laugh, especially when the alternative is a Gibson, which I can’t stand. Personal preference I know, but I haven’t played a duff Yamaha yet. Can’t say the same for Gibsons. -

Going by the ones I know I know who don’t look particularly like who they actually are, or were the time, I’m not surprised there are a few that I have multiple names for. Which ones are you struggling with? -
Paul McCartney - under appreciated?
