1. I assume you mean you'd be placing the two J pickups right next to each other, like on this bass: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/194434-sold-warwick-streamer-pro-m-german-1998-sold/ If so, the answer would seem to be "yes".
2. I've had this problem in the past, but at the moment it works fine, both with the mobile version and the full version. Maybe worth closing the browser and starting again?
3. Reading your sig, I can't help wondering what "I know what I like" would sound like in a BB style. I reckon there's potential there, but it may not be something to suggest at the audition!
4.
...Did have a cream A15 too, but sold it as it wasn't half the guitar that the A20 was. ...
Of course the A15 wasn't half the guitar the A20 was - it would have been three quarters! Ok, I'll get my coat... Meanwhile, can I just second Bilbo's sentiment about Christmas wishes (even the colour is esactly right). I'll just have to hope Santa gets to me before Bilbo!
5. Nice gesture. And, since I also only use flats, I'm happy to make a sacrificial post to get the numbers up.
6. Well, if I thought Courtney Love might turn up, I think I'd opt for a few years sabbatical in the middle east. The middle east, by the way, what is that - part way between Ely and Norwich?
7. They were the first proper gig I went to - Crystal Palace in '84, cos a mate was a huge fan. And he then got me along to the Marquee in the week leading up to Live Aid, because John Coghlan's band were playing, and Alan Lancaster and Rick Parfitt turned up for a couple of numbers so as to "practise" for Live Aid. Happy times.
8.
I'll concede I haven't looked into this enough
There's no shame in that - I had to google to find out about this McCartney bloke.
9. It was a Hawkwind tribute band until the recent floods hit.
10. I think even just hunting through the classifieds on here, you'll see $$s going for under £500. It's criminal, but that's the going price. And, fwiw, I'm 99% sure the OP's $$ is German-made, but no doubt he'll confirm that himself before long.
11.
.... You can't just add another battery as the biasing of the components will be all wrong.
In some circuits you can, at least without frying anything. Some people say it improves things; others reckon they're just hearing an improvement that they expected to hear. I think it's safe to say: 1) it depends - adding a battery might be possible or might not, depending on the particular preamp you have. 2) it's complicated - 18v can be used in different ways, as flyfisher mentions. Which, I think, is why the sticky on this topic isn't very conclusive.
12.
. Recently I bought a copy of that CD again that was sold as New Old Stock. Yup, you guessed it: I got my "own" cd back.
Hope you demanded a refund since it was obviously not NOS!
13.
... I got the bass out of its case to find a nice big dent and crack in the finish and a nice chunk of finish came away. .... it mysteriously happened while in the case..
Allow me to be the first to suggest you buy a new case. Sounds like you have some seriously vicious pixies living in your current one! Btw, £130 sounds like a really good price for stripping poly and refinishing. I remember reading on the Manchester Guitar Tech site that if you wanted him to re-fin your guitar, it would be cheaper to trade your current one in for another in the right colour.
14.
Nurofen.
PMSL. It is so good to have you posting regularly again!
15. It's an SG. Send it back and get a proper guitar. Seriously though, if you like it, then use your (justified) annoyance at its condition to extract a reasonable discount/sweetener. And if you don't like it, then return it under distance selling regs. But, IIRC, in that latter case, it's better if you don't mention any issues with it, because you want to be clear that you are returning it under the DSR rules, and not because there is something wrong with it.
16.
...It's not really a very good fit tbh. ...
What do you mean?!?! McCartney is left-handed; what else do you want?
17. I'm not a massive Rush fan, but I picked this up cheap, and it was worth it. It's mainly a one hour prog covering both LPs. But the DVD I got had a "bonus" of an extra half hour or so of more interviews, again covering both albums. There was nothing earth-shattering, but an entertaining insight into the band nd those albums.
18. It'll presumably be these: http://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_american_truetone.htm
19.
.... like taking a fat old lady ....
Er, I think you need to buy yourself a new bass, mate!
20. The foam can certainly mark an oil finish, as one of my Warwicks found out. (Though re-waxing got rid of the marks). From that I would expect it not to be safe for nitro, but I don't know the chemistry of these things. My solution has been to put some socks over the foam parts. I gather that doesn't completely solve the problem, but it certainly slows down any effect the foam has.
21.
I don't when they enabled bass in polyphonic mode, but I know that the big one didn't support bass polyphonic tuning originally. If you have an older one though, you can apparently download a software upgrade from the website.
I don't know when it was, but it must have been fairly early on - the first reviews of the pedal seem to appear around January 2010, and mine, which I bought in April 2010, came already with a polyphonic setting for bass. The upgrade advertised on the TC site only refers to Drop D tuning. But then, they don't seem to be very informative about these upgrades - for some other pedals they offer an upgrade without saying anything about what it does! And regarding the comment about the polytune needing a screwdriver to access the battery compartment - no, a penny coin will do. Ok, it's not as easy as Boss pedals, but it's still easier than many.
22. Interesting. I might try putting my bass through my blonde pedal and see how that sounds. For guitar I found the drive gets quite rough in the last third of its range; sounds like the clone has copied this feature!
23.
You've answered your own question.
yup, I guess I have! So us not-so-big fans can stick with the 5 hour "DVD" or whatever it's called.
24. I like BRX's suggestion, but another option with strap locks is to put the strap on the bass as normal, then put the strap locks on the button after. Less secure than BRX's permanent option, but more secure than attaching the locks to the strap and using them in the normal way.
25.
The DVD is incredible. The bass is a bit subby but as a performance, an event, it's fab.
As an event, I can see that it would have been fantastic. But why buy the DVD? Ok, for nostalgia if you were there. But otherwise? I can't really see the point myself, but then I'm not a big Zep fan.
