1. That rattling is probably why they moved away from replaceable trussrods. Good job that you fixed it so easily.
 2. It sounds like its overheating (because the fan is dead), so cutting out and then cooling down, so it works again next time. It's going to be a tech job to fix the fan, but probably not a big or difficult job.
 3.
Maybe the trussrod is simply not working anymore or it snapped at some point. You can contact Warwick directly by sending an e-mail to [email protected] which will most likely be replied to by Hans Peter Wilfer himself....
That's true, and he is likely to tell you that you can send the bass back to them for a small fortune, and for a slightly larger fortune they will look at it, and probably tell you that, for an amount slightly larger than the GDP of many nations, you can have it fixed. At least, that's about how helpful he was when the electrics in my three-year old Thumb went last year. I have seen fantastic customer service from them, but it seems to be that if it's still under warranty then they treat you well, and if not, then they take the p.
 4.
that is cool if they sent you 5. How long do you get out if a single battery? I enquired a while ago and unfortunately they dont do 33" scale otherwise i would have ordered.I also thought it would be cool to have 2 colours. Amber with green or red for 12th and 24th fret.
I don't know about battery length yet. The battery shows no sign of dying yet, but it's probably only had a couple of hours of use. The LEDs are so bright that I turn them off whenever I can. Shame they don't offer two-colour options, or different scale lengths. In that sense, I guess they are pretty inflexible. I did first wonder about stick-on dots, but wasn't convinced that any would stay on very long. I'd be interested to hear anybody with successful experiences of the stick-ons.
 5. I've just read the comment about batteries, which puzzles me. They use CR2032 batteries, which are pretty common here. And they sent me about 5 with the bass, which ought to last a year or two.
 6. I got these for one of my basses. The LEDs are very bright, and the strip they are embedded in doesn't get in the way at all. So functionally they are great. The fitting of the battery pack and the wire up to it is a bit amateur. It's functional, but if you care about appearances, you probably won't be happy with it. I still can't make up my mind about their "switch" - you turn the lights on and off by removing the battery and inserting it in the other way round. It's either a triumph of functional purity, or a lazy-ass cheapskate option. The service from fretfx was good. The order form on their website wasn't as clear as it could be; as you'll see, I was wondering them for a 24 fret fretless, and it wasn't clear how to stipulate both, but I fired off a few emails and got quick clear responses. And the LEDs came through from the states quite quickly. And here are a few pics of them in situ:
 7. That is seriously interesting. It's really disorientating, to the point where I can't say if I like it or not, cos my brain is just frazzled by it. But with some of the chord changes in there I get a real emotional lift from hearing a major where I'm expecting a minor. A really fascinating experience - many thanks for posting!
 8.
Squealing Piezo is a great name for a band!
That was exactly what I thought when I saw the thread. And +1 on the induction loop idea, although I don't know if that would be more of a problem with a piezo than a mag. I would have expected the opposite - more of a problem with magnetic than piezo, but I'll admit I don't have much to base that on.
 9. It does seem an odd choice. It presumably has two preamps but a shared power amp. So only a small saving compared with a proper stereo set-up. But I can see it's more simple and intuitive than a memory/presets amp, and that's going to appeal to some people.
 10.
Is there a good way to murder something?
Apparently so, if you read the thread about cooking lobsters.
 11.
I thought it had two outputs.
No, just the one. In the video on the Warwick page they sell it as being good for bassists who use two different basses during their set.
 12.
Is there an Adam clayton bass ? Will have to google it !
There are at least two that I am aware of: a very, er, tasteful P bass: [Img]http://www.fender-cs.jp/topics/ClaytonBass1.jpg" class="ipsImage" /> and a very, er, tasteful Warwick: [Img]http://i853.photobucket.com/albums/ab94/u2_stage_and_studio_adam/1-Bass_Guitars/Warwick/Adam%20Clayton%20Reverso-2009-natural/1964079014GDMQZFWW_01.jpg" class="ipsImage" /> Which just goes to show that Clayton puts more taste into his basslines than his basses.
 13.
That would be a good test. I think the only way to be successful would be to use the song but change the genre.
Hmm, what a brilliant idea. Maybe do a more electronic version. Perhaps even with a bit of another song cut into the middle 8. Could be a massive hit, I reckon. And, more seriously, yes, I reckon that would be the only way to improve WTSHNN.
 14.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Behringer had no more power on tap than the Acoustic. AFAIR Behringer use magic pixie watts to describe the power output on their amps, so I'd imagine it's output RMS is about half of what Behringer claims.
This was more or less demonstrated by their "6000W" amp which, if it actually produced that power running from UK mains, would have to operate at 200% efficiency.
 15.
.... mart - Yes, the Pro Series Star Bass has been discontinued. ...
Thanks for the info. It's a shame about the pro Star bass, cos that was curved like the German SB, wasn't it? I wonder if there were any fretless ones made. I know it was theoretically available fretless, but I never saw any shop offer a fretless for sale.
 16.
Me too! But the possibilities of two seperately driven cabs practically has me drooling
Fair enough, but this amp only has one output, so won't do that, will it? Just spotted another application though: if you've two bassists in your band, they could both go through this one amp. So that's Ned's Atomic Dustbin sorted!
 17.
Link the two channels? I'm thinking two separate feeds from the pedalboard, one clean and one dirty
So, somewhere on your board you need a device that splits the signal into a clean and a dirty. Ok, "link" might not sound like "split" but they mean the same thing in my head! Anyway, now I see where you are coming from. It took me a while, because I've always gone for the simple bass -> cable -> amp set-up!
 18.
That looks like a great amp! Would be especially great for having one clean and one dirty channel live.. Hmm...
Except you'd need a separate box to link the two channels. It looks like a useful amp for people for switch between two different basses live. Maybe I'm just too used to multi-channel guitars amps that have a single input and switchable channels.
 19. A few more questions for you Garey: So has the Korean Star Bass been discontinued? It's still on the pricelist, but now I can't find it on the website. And is the RB Star Bass the same shape as the Warwick version, or is it flatter, like the RB streamers are? That thing really isn't helping my gas.
 20. I guess. But I think I prefer your suggestion of a single channel amp, especially if it were lighter and cheaper (as it should be).
 21.
Ah, well spotted, thanks. Triumph. Corrected
You had me going there for a minute!
 22.
Boo
Price is now on the site: £739 RRP.
 23.
Garey, will the Rockbass Thumb be available left-handed too?
Thumb?!? Or do you mean Triumph?
 24.
... love the way they didn't bother to tune up before they came on stage. Then they tune up a bit... yet they're still out of tune. ...

... A different age, wasn't it? I suppose the attitude was, 'Hey, we're the talent. And we're tripping. You lot wait till we're good and ready'. Not like now, where every musician is a snivelling excuse of a big pair of girl's knickers, has to be 'professional', not get too out of it and grovel to the merest whim of 'the punters'. There, I've said it.
That was certainly a different era. But .... wind the clock back a few years more, say to when the Byrds toured the UK in '65, and they were lambasted for tuning up on stage. All professional bands then were expected to have got themselves sorted beforehand, and come on and play the right number of songs at the right hour, etc. So perhaps we've just gone back in time to the mid '60s, not the late '60s.
 25.
INteresting. Do you know if the Warwick "P" pickup is the same exact size and shape as the Fender ones ? ie. are they interchangeable with std aftermarket P pickups ?
I've put a MEC (Warwick) P pickup in my Squier CV P, so yes, they are interchangeable.
