  1. The bridge position certainly looks like it might negate the ergonomic benefits of a shorter scale.
  2. Growl = lots of mids Hifi = too much treble 😬 On a note serious note I'm happy to listen to recommendations for any 2 pickup, 4 knob config, ideally with a mid control.
  3. Nice, not having to import one is definitely a plus point. Thanks for the heads up!
  4. I have a Spector Legend 6 which was rewired to passive by a previous owner. I'm considering making it active again, can anyone suggest a 9v preamp with vol, blend, a mid control and treble cut that comes as a 4 pot version? I'd also consider a filter pre. Sound-wise I'm looking more for growl than hi-fi, but I'm not sure how much difference there really is between preamps in that respect. Edit: bonus points if it's easy to fit for someone with no aptitude for soldering
  5. I upgraded my pj5 fretless with the higher spec pickups and frankly I might as well not have bothered, the difference in noise was almost imperceptible to my ear. (Fortunately I didn't pay £250 for them 😅)
  6. Spot the illegitimate family resemblance here (all made by Cort)
  7. Looks consistent with the stock images here: https://ibanez.fandom.com/wiki/SR1300_(1993–1997)
  8. Speaking as someone who pointlessly gave themselves tendonitis trying to replicate my DB technique on electric bass, I would not try and do that. They're different instruments, and although there are lots of transferable skills treating electric bass as a small DB doesn't really work (nor does treating DB as a big fretless, as lots of people have found going the other way). Do what Happy Jack says.
  9. One of the few birth year basses I would actually like to open. Beautiful. Glwts.
  10. Is the body all aluminium, with different veneers front and back? Looks incredible.
  11. I swear the product manager who signed off on naming it the Sterling by Sterling by MusicMan needs their head examined
  12. This has inspired me to actually use album shuffle, turns out it's a good feature, who knew 😅
  13. Pretty sure Foobar2000 can do this. https://www.foobar2000.org/
  14. That skunk stripe! Those inlays! Amazing.
  15. Hah, I think I just spotted this on Gumtree, nice find. Cool headstock.
  16. Never used it on a Warwick but I do have a can of lighter fluid in the cupboard that's only ever been used to clean gunk out of fretboards.
  17. The rules say "no buying gear" so I reckon you're ok
  18. Got to be Psycroptic for me, some of the most inventive but catchy techy death metal, and the later albums keep getting better watch is always nice to see. https://psycroptic.bandcamp.com/album/divine-council
  19. My most trivial pet hate: calling it the Ray 35 and making it a 34" scale.
  20. If it's relying on the Sonuus' pitch to midi feature that will always have some inherent delay, especially at lower pitches. What application are you listening through?
  21. I'd quite like a few of the cheaper Ibanez models but I can't bring myself to even think about buying a seafoam green instrument.
  22. Looking at the syllabi they still seem to be very classically focused -- I can't see any option for bass guitar or drum kit for example, and only classical guitar. I'd probably steer clear of these unless specifically requested tbh. The established practical grades are useful for standardising between institutions and building a common repertoire but there's quite a large element of "studying for the test" required IME that probably wouldn't suit a self-taught multi-instrumentalist.
  23. For classical students Practical Grades are a de-facto standard. These seem a bit less rigorous at a glance, to me. Does he need a cert to take the course he wants?
  24. Not sure if it's stretching the definition of Central Scotland but I've had good service (including a jack replacement) from Jimmy Egypt in Glasgow.
