  1. Yeah, I have a Bill Dickens sig which is huge and weighs a tonne, I can't imagine handling two stuck together.
  2. Idly window shopping to fill the hole in my collection: - fretted 5 string - ideally with a 35" or longer low B - under ~£800 new or used What's out there? I know some Spector models are 35", MTD Kingston, Ibanez BTB (or any of the long-scale fanned fret Ibanezes), Jackson JS, Lakland Skyline (maybe pushing the budget slightly)... any obvious ones I've missed in there?
  3. By finding a good chiropractor, ideally
  4. Was quite taken with this for a while when I started out (owned by a TB moderator)
  5. I'm still a bit sad I had to move my 5 string double bass on, but the reality is I don't have the time and space needed for it so it's better with someone who can use it.
  6. It's generally referred to as "not fretting cleanly" I think 😬 — beginner lessons always emphasise fretting behind the fret to avoid it. (As ever, if it works for you, go nuts)
  7. Absolutely this, unless you can be 100% confident they'll treat it as well as you would (spoiler: they won't).
  8. The A/D/G gauges here seem like you're tuning a BEAD set down?
  9. IME this is probably because they've adjusted to the regular position without realising how much twist that introduces -- straightening it out back feels like twisting the opposite way, rather than being ~neutral.
  10. I started using classical position relatively recently, to help combat my poor posture that was leading to back/knee pain -- it lets me keep my back straighter (when I'm mindful of it). For me it's actually closer to how my basses hang on a strap, as you say it's definitely easier to play in the higher registers.
  11. Yep, bare-bones...
  12. Nice, is the image printed directly on to the plate?
  13. I have an SSL2, I'm pretty sure the control panel is very bare-bones, no EQ other than the "vintage warmth" emulation on the preamps.
  14. Super clean playing and nice tone to my ear ( I do like a darker sound so this may well be a matter of taste) -- sounds like "tube warmth" to me through my monitors and through my MBP's speakers.
  15. More interfaces should have a "more dread" toggle imho
  16. The figured maple tops look uniformly lush -- very nice.
  17. As a confirmed "as low as it can go" fiend, I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and learn how to do a proper fret dress one of these days...

Yeah -- refers to leaving the wah pedal active without sweeping it

Flub usually seems like a feature for most doom acts...
  21. Superb playing @Steve Woodcock, very much enjoying this.
  22. Not played the basses but my old teacher used to say his Blade was the best strat he'd ever played
  23. This one on Reverb is the only Maverick bass I can recall ever seeing second hand 😕 https://reverb.com/uk/item/62653867-maverick-s5-2003-bass-guitar
  24. Was this the kind of Jackson Kelly style one?
  25. Brand new and unused. Was given this to go in an old machine, never got round to it now I don't have any PCI slots. Collect in Glasgow or £5 postage.
