  3. Zvex Wooly Mammoth

Hi is this still for sale? Also does it have a 9v input or just battery?
  4. When I lived in the US I saw drunken patrons too... (maybe not as much...). There is walking (I know, crazy, eh?), and when distances too long there are taxis. I don't know anybody here who relies on their own car for 'nights out in town'.
  5. Measure your jazz bass

2006 US Fender 890mm the differences will probably be down to different bridge designs. When building a bass I fit the bridge so that the half way point of the saddle's range of adjustment is at 34" from the nut (This is assuming that the scale length is 34" The Fender I measured has the half way point at 34 1/4")
  6. Favourite Movie Music

Local Hero. Of its time, but Knopfler's theme fitted perfectly.
  7. Cab now on hold with someone collecting this week. thanks for all the interest though
  8. How was your gig last night?

Got snowed off unfortunately......got within a couple of miles of the place after a 1 hour drive through a blizzard only to have to turn back at the last hurdle. Never mind, British Summer Time starts next week!
  9. Post your pedal board - Basschat style!!

If that's your first post - a big welcome to Basschat!
  10. I Hate Tobacco Sunburst

Not a fan of brown bursts. I doubt it would stop me from getting something I really liked though, but as someone else said, it reminds me of the cheap copies (although not as much as varnished light wood). I do have a red burst though, and I love that
  11. Warwick Streamer Stage II NT 5 stringer

Thanks a bunch, Dolando. I know, right? It's my favorite part on the bass as well.
  12. I Hate Tobacco Sunburst

The burst is okay by me. It's just the colour of tobacco in those darker smokier looking finishes that reminds me of too many years of heavy smoking. When I was a tobacco consumer, every room in my house would gradually become tinted with the same depressing brown muck! I don't find the colour attractive on an instrument either. I like it even less now that there are no more smoking venues and everywhere looks and smells better. I don't know whether I agree with you on coffee table basses however. I'm still not sure what that means. I looked it up and found this. Cool huh?

  14. Favourite Movie Music

That's easy. Bladerunner by Vangelis. Probably one of my fave albums too.
  15. I Hate Tobacco Sunburst

I've never understood "burst" finishes either. I know some people like them. I don't hate them, but I'd never choose to have a burst finish & would even contemplate a refinish in a solid colour.
  16. I Hate Tobacco Sunburst

That... rippled beige texture. It reminds me of quilted maple. Gross.
  17. I Hate Tobacco Sunburst

What have you got against partially digested Farley's rusks?
  18. I Hate Tobacco Sunburst

It'd look much better in Butterscotch Blonde... IMHO I'll take one from the middle please.

  20. I Hate Tobacco Sunburst

It certainly suits the guitar but, for me? I'd take the orange one please. Even the blue version seems to have a bit of a subtle burst thing going on and for that reason, I'm out.

Some lovely pics there Alan A very enjoyable afternoon spent in great company, it was brilliant both catching up and meeting some new faces. Some lovely kit to see and play with and very clever design and build amplification set up from mottlefeeder . Some great A/B sound testing and some head scratching with regards working out which controls did what there were some lovely tones from a collection of rig/ bass combinations and then of course Tommo's rig Now that takes some dedication to lug around and we missed the photo op of Vinnies scene stealer through the fridge it was a shame we lost Owen and Redd to the weather , though the small but quality and friendly crew who were there made for a few marvellous hours of bassery. Hopefully some more photos to follow later from me
  22. I Hate Tobacco Sunburst

Actually, the antiquity of the burst finish works nicely with the 1950's pulp sci-fi body shape... and I've got a real big Big Al SSS itch that I can't quite reach to scratch. If you were to ever put this one up for sale, despite me really wanting one, I could never bring myself to buy it and that makes me sad.
  23. Post your pedal board - Basschat style!!

Did you edit your MB SS through the PC software editor? Be interested if you have a link to the said video as to what the factory default sound was and see if I can get there on mine... I'm just having a wild guess that FI mk2 should be due for release soon simply on the grounds that the original FI was released at the tail end of 2015, but I could be completely wrong on that one!
  24. Feedback for LewisK1975

Top bloke to deal with. I bought his Yamaha Attitude II. He was very flexible with me, whilst I sold my other instruments to buy off him. He faced the strong winds and the snow of the ‘mini beast of the East’ to meet me half way for the pickup. Super nice guy too. The bass is in great condition and has clearly been looked after well. It was a pleasure to buy off Lewis and I wouldn’t hesitate to do it again. Cheers for the sale!
  25. Funk bass / how i practise...

    Outstanding. Thank you.
