  2. Thanks for all the trade offers guys. The head is now sold!
  3. Jazz bass colour????

It is listed as having a fine straight grain so thats what I was thinking if I test it on the back and I don’t like it then I can start over But this chart shows how stains are supposed to work on it?
  4. MXR Bass Octave Deluxe

For anyone who doesn’t know, this is one of the best tracking analogue octave pedals out there. It’s certainly the best one in that regard that I’ve tried so far. Mine gets down to (and sustains) bottom F no problem.
  5. Full depth, not shallow rack. Hope this helps
  6. Hi im after a verellen meatsmoke preamp the newer version with two eq sections thanks perry
  7. Hi deep is this?
  8. Jazz bass colour????

It depends on the pores in your body. That body is ash which has large pores. Give it a go anyway - if you don't like it you can always sand it off
  9. 4u rack case

Condition not important just price really.

  11. need to make quick decision - help me decide

Not wanting to derail your quest too much, but it might be worth looking at Bass Direct. They have three MIJ Jazz basses in stock at the moment, and at least they're somewhat more local than Spain. I appreciate their stock may not be in your preferred colours though. The white MIJ Jazz looks straight enough from the pics, at least as far as I can tell. Good luck whichever way you decide to go!
  12. I think I'm coming down with something...

I strongly object to being told a I have a seriously shite bass - I have a whole room full of them!
  13. No real love for Jaco

"Without Mozart there would be no Beethoven" Really? Beethoven would have been as great as he was regardless. Without Haydn He and Mozart might have been lesser, or different. The greats take from what went before, but don't depend on it. I'm not a Jaco fan at all, but I will happily acknowledge his talent and technical ability. I just think he wasted most of it
  14. Aguilar Octamizer - postage included

I'd love it! but skint and too close to Christmas
  15. I think I'm coming down with something...

You have a seriously sh*te bass, as witnessed by me at many Fat Lils jams. You seriously need to get a damn good plank in your arse nal
  16. Bass that Deb Googe plays these days

Darn, how did I miss that gig ? Not sure of the bass, but I know she has played First Act Delgada recently - maybe it's one of theirs ?
  17. Passion vs Ability

We did a gig with Peter Noones (Herman's Hermits) a couple of years ago and their guitarist who is also their musical director and he watched our whole set and I spoke with him about opportunities. He told me how important it is to always be prepared. That means competent to understand different genres, might mean able to read charts and sing.Being able to pass a pro level audition. It could mean having an active passport and Visa to work in other countries. All part of ability in my book. Blue
  18. No real love for Jaco

Some can think but not in the right order.
  19. Fretless bass - what would you recommend?

Cheers @Sambrook That's really interesting and very useful thanks. Must admit I would have probably stuck to the standard low B, but I like your suggestion of a top C string a lot! Ok I'm going to see if I can persuade you to share a bit about some of your more recent other fretless which you've previously owned and what made you decide to move them on versus the Portamento? I suspect being able to benefit from your past experience may save me (and a fair few others) the ache of having to 'go through' a whole selection to arrive at the right one!
  20. Absolute belter of an amp; my brother's got a Classic 30 2x12 combo and it sounds amazing!
  21. Deep Purple in concert

We're off to see them at the O2 on Thursday. Probably wouldn't have bothered on my own account, much as I love their output from the early 70's, but Mrs. E has somehow managed to go her whole life without ever going to a big rock gig, so this is largely for her benefit.
  22. I think I'm coming down with something...

She's an only child...I won't comment on her age as she's watching me...but she's a good six months younger than I am!
  23. I think I'm coming down with something...

No, my bike GAS was permanently cured when I was knocked off a couple of years ago!
  24. Post your pedal board - Basschat style!!

Tried that already, it sounded good however I'm gonna try them separately at practice tomorrow.
