  2. Price drop - now £375 posted in the UK.
  3. I'm having a clear-out of gear I either don't use or don't use very well, these mics fall into the latter category. By 'don't use well' I mean that while I use them for voice recording, I don't really use the modelling functionality, and while these are stunning mics in pure hardware and functionality terms, a pair of SM7-Bs also work just as well for my needs. I've owned these since 2022 and they've had mostly spoken word use in that time. I bought them having already used UAD hardware and plug-ins (UAD subsequently bought Townsend Labs and these are now branded the UAD Sphere DLX https://www.uaudio.com/products/ua-sphere-dlx-modeling-microphone?srsltid=AfmBOorgjZ5kwOqTV-2uCtMPcc25_I2vJglALwqt2tpzagSQOZNPbLyK). Having read this review https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/townsend-labs-sphere-l22 I was really excited at being able to modify mic models/orientation in post-production. But to be honest, I've never really needed to, and barely have the time to record these days, let alone to spend hours playing around with different mics afterwards. But I suspect that in a Pro or Semi-Pro studio these, and the software that comes with them, could be a gamechanger. Included with each mic is the shock-mount, cable, mic stand adapter, soft case, and hard case. I'll get some more pics up later. They retailed around £1450 each and sell used on eBay at between £800-900 so at £750 these are competitively priced, if you wanted them both I'm happy to haggle. Happy to courier or for collection/meet-up I'm also going to be moving on a few more items of studio gear that isn't getting enough use to justify staying
  4. Just to answer, he said he's not between tours, he still plays drums in a couple of local projects. He's 67 (doesn't look it).
  5. I remember them as a nice bunch of lads. They used to frequent a local jamnight I went to years back every Friday when they were learning their trade.

  7. Totally agree, don't practice mistakes, and sleep is the magic sauce. I realised I missed out step 0: make a playlist and listen to the songs as much as possible. Timings are interesting: I've found it quite easy to intellectualise harmony as it is lots of number relationships and I've learned about the theory, but I've not gone through that process with rhythm, probably because I've never been through formal training. So I don't have a clear mental model to slot timings into, I tend to learn through repetition. My plan is to learn how to use music notation for timings so that I can map what I'm learning onto that, like I do with harmony. I think I'll be able to remember timings much more easily when I've mastered that.
  8. Great condition. Hardly used as I prefer to use my pjb c8 for the small number of gigs I'm currently doing so it's gathering dust. Nice little lightweight 1x12 though with a switchable tweeter, very loud for its size. Plenty for a small single cab rig. Tilt back facility for better monitoring and ampfix plate on top for use with Eich amps with magnets. Collection only from Chatham, Kent. No postage.

  10. Another reason to not have any social media... Genuinely, the world would be a FAR better place if it didn't exist at all.
  11. Hugh McDowell, who was the other ELO cellist of that era, taught on my Electronic Music Technology course in the early 80's
  12. Thanks Gezza1.it really is a cracking bass.😊

  14. I must try this. I bought an absolutely non-budget Nordymute a couple years ago and unless I barely put it on, just gently touching the strings with the end, it's too muted and useless for me. Putting it on just barely adds the risk that I knock it off with my hand. I enjoyed sponges and packing materials more than the fancy purpose-made stuff.
  15. Just to be clear the price I am asking is £3000. That being said I am sure anyone who might have an interest in a Bass of this quality and condition would drop me a message to negotiate.
  16. Ah thanks. That makes sense. I've never had an expensive enough bass to need one. 😆
  17. That's a very decent price for an amp that will make your bass sound rather lovely
  18. An industry that exploits it's workers and then discards them without a second thought? Nah. It'll never happen.

  21. That's the life of the bass player! I'm invisible when I take mine off 😕
  22. Good Vibrations - The Beach Boys
  23. Every time I've messed with the mod shop configurator, I just find out how ridiculously limited it is. I get that it's just them bolting together whatever spare parts they've got kicking around the warehouse and probably charging you extra for the privilege, but the least they could do would be to add a few special options, no?
  24. Just another couple of names for the list - I seem to recall he was playing Canadian Lado basses for a while. I can't find a picture of him with it, but I'm pretty sure it was one of these: He also played an Ibanez Sabre-style bass that was a kinda flip blue/purple colour. EDIT: Joe Lado is now 80 years old and is still building guitars. They also have a FB page: https://www.facebook.com/ladoguitars
  25. I made myself accessible but nobody wanted to talk to me. 😮‍💨 Daryl
