  1. Past hour
  2. Simple. Just buy another bass that covers all the tones you think you'll need.
  3. Bringing this old thread back to life, and kind of following on from what @SumOne was saying, I currently have 7 and find myself a bit overwhelmed by them all. When I'm at home I end up playing one for 10 minutes, then swapping over to another, then another and get more obsessed by their different tones than with getting on with playing. I wonder if other people find this and how you deal with it?
  4. Set number 2 now withdrawn, been cut down to fit a shortscale rather beautifully...
  5. Bought these from the marketplace here, they're nicely worn in - bright with the tone fully open, warmer with tone down. I'm not a fan of roundwounds, so here they are. Don't know the gauge, or composition, sorry. I think they're nickel... Price includes postage. Cheers.
  6. Well, here goes... Just a loop recorded on to my phone, so quality is poor. Neck, middle, then bridge. It's wearing Thomastik rounds at the moment, so the tone is not as smooth as with the flats... Friday at 7-31 pm.m4a
  7. Not had this very long, bought this and a les paul copy to see which I preferred, and the les paul won! Only just though - it's a great instrument. Very playable neck, not heavy, and the neck pickup sounds particularly good. I've modified it slightly - tortoiseshell pickguard and cream covers and knobs. As you can see, I didn't do a very good job of enlarging the pole piece holes to fit the bridge pickup cover. I will include the original white guard, covers and knobs in the sale. Also put Graphtec string trees on. Lovely satin black finish, with the relicing on the back. The fingerboard is either reliced or played in, or both! It's great...! It's from 2012, by the way.

  8. Happy to include 24 hour courier delivery (UK only) in the asking price
  9. Try playing in an originals band!
  10. La Bella 760FX Flatwound Strings Used for approximately 4 hours. Cut for Fender style head. £30 including postage.
  11. Definitely US. This came from a parts bass made by a Sadowsky employee. No real markings on it to identify as such. The pickups were scrubbed out and headstock left blank for fear of repercussions. I still have the neck - Brazillian rosewood fingerboard, Graphtech nut, Schaller tuners.
  12. SIT Foundations NPS 45-105 Used for project bass, now disassembled. Cut for Fender style head. Approximately 20 hours play time. Like Dunlop Superbrights? You'll love these. £12.50 posted.
  13. Hi , just confirming the cab is ported at the bottom. About 3" in height and runs three quarters of the length of the cab approximately. Cheers
  14. If nobody turns up, you're getting paid to practice 👍
  15. I think the difference with the likes of Wal, Status and Jaydee is, as a brand, they're known for a particular sound sound since they make their own pickups, preamps, etc (and hardware, in some cases). Most of the rest of them use commodity pickups, preamps, etc. Nothing wrong with either approach, in my opinion. Out of the "new breed" of builders, I'd say the likes of Alpher and ACG have their own sound, since they make their own electronics, etc. Bernie isn't exactly one of the new breed, but GB would count too, since he uses bespoke pickups and electronics and his basses are known for having a certain sound.
  16. And... if anyone wants FOUR guitars, you can have this Washburn Woodline O12SE for £100 on top. The bridge is lifting hence only asking £100 for a £400 guitar, however the rest of it is mint and it still has low and stable action with strings at full tension. I have it as my 'lounge' acoustic.
  17. I can think of a bundle of more recent builders doing interesting things… alpher ACG Dingwall F bass Strandberg Klos Marleaux Luduc Le Fay Alusonic Freedom custom guitar research rob allen serek wilcock NS of the ones you’ve listed Shuker and Sei are more one off makers, Overwater have a position of trust for professional players in the U.K. more so than bass players who frequent forums, wal have a unique electronics package and the flea connection, status the graphite usp - though I hated the king bass I tried - and jaydee and GB I’ve no idea about and would never consider… … but it’s all personal preference- with a very close link to the music you were into when you were young … the other difference of course is far less bass used in modern pop music now compared to x years ago …
  18. OTOH, I have Seis and a Shuker and wouldn't touch a Wal as I find them unpleasant to play (might have another Status though). People want different things. Shuker, Sei, Overwater, GB, and ACG (can't miss Alan out) wouldn't be replacements for G&L as they're not the same volume of production - well, possibly Overwater, less so now that they've dropped the Aspiration series.
  19. Hi all, We've foolishly committed to a rather extensive bout of house works, so some things need to get gone! Here we have 3 lovely guitars (and a set of Gyker locking tuners!) they are: ● Ibanez GRG120QASP ● Jackson JS22 ● Jackson JS11 All are in very good/excellent condition. Minimal wear save a few light scratches. I'd quite like to get rid of them as a job lot, so I'm offering the whole caboodle up for £400. With the tuners included, you'd be spending north of £700 for this lot, so £400 for everything seems fair! Collection from Wickford, Essex is much preferred, but I can post them (individually) as I do have 3 guitar shipping boxes I can post them in. Any questions/extra photos, please ask.
  20. I've never had a speaker fail on me. I had two amps fail in the same gig in 2017 with different issues and a third amp fail the following week. I always carry two amps and GK Plex (DI, Tuner, Comp). Having a DI as backup only only works if there's a PA/monitors/channel available. If I had to chose just one, it would be an amp.
  21. For those of us not in the know, what is it?
  22. Flightcase Warehouse full flight-case for bass guitar, really heavy duty touring quality. Some tarnishing of the plated metal parts as it's been sat in my garage for the past decade or so, but otherwise in good nick and latches functioning smoothly. Internally lined with a thin layer of high density foam; you fit foam in cut to fit your bass. External dimensions (including corner protectors) in cm: L - 120, W - 42, D - 17 Internal dimensions (cm): L - 177.5, W - 38.5, D - 12 Free for collection from near Swansea, South Wales
  23. Haven’t put much up here lately as I’ve been travelling a fair bit, anyway a wonderful album to check out if you have a chance, it’s on the heavy dub side and there’s some great Basslines in there , love a bit of Soul Syndicate
