Hi I'm a freelance bassist with over 40 years experience mainly working in the theatre. I've just purchased an Ibanez UB804 Electric Upright Bass, which is what brought BASSCHAT to my attention. I did contact Epifani a couple of days ago, obviously it's the week end, etc.. but i'm on fire to get it done so, i'm just trying to hasten things. Unfortunately in my country there is no Epifani importer but my tech is super duper good but he would like to have a look at the schematics before tackling the job The use of it wasn't unauthorised, the guy was/is just plain dumb - upon seeing a speaker cable connected to my amp he still went ahead and connected the other amp to the cab because.. errr.... that's what you do ! I didn't bother asking him to pay, can't be bothered wasting time, getting nervous or listen to some stupid excuses, however from now on NO ONE will be allowed to use it and can start carrying back and forth their own 30 kg cabs. Needless to say, every bass player that rehearses there now loves him.....

Sit down. Eases the problem with weight and you're closer to the floor so better chance of reading the setlist and seeing which patch you're on.

I really enjoyed the set, a fantastic back catalogue of Police and solo Sting material to choose from, three damn good musicians, dressed in just jeans and tee shirts (no fancy stage clothing), no backdrop, just their back line and stage lighting.

Sorry - my sadism gene is malformed i did think however that it might be fun to prank future archaeologists by using an axe to cut off their feet and put them near their heads so that maybe the archaeologists could form a theory of the feet being somehow involved in the afterlife journey

The USB device I got from AliExpress was generating lots of extraneous noise so I returned it (instant refund). I'm trying a Behringer UM2 instead which seems more promising.

It really is a bit of a brain-melt moment when you’re browsing through Amazon Prime for something to watch and you happen across a Jeff Beck live video with the guy you who hosts your jam night playing in the band - the amazing Nicolas Meier on guitar! Mind blowing stuff!

By the time I was playing gear costing £1k plus I had discovered bass chat and was able to trade my way through some fairly nice gear. I might have saved a little money had shops stocked similar instruments to try first but there’s just so much choice out there even the likes of bass direct, bass bros and the bass gallery can’t stock it all. I did try a very nice Dakota custom shop jazz bass in a PMT once. It was a thing of beauty but the £2.5k price tag was a little heavy, and I do wonder how many of those high margin/ high cost items they tended to sell in stores vs online.
