There Ain't Nothing Like Shagging - The Tams

Just wouldn’t have been possible on the last gig, no spare mics, inexperienced sound guy and I’m just the sideman who can’t be making such demands/adding so much complexity just for me

Spent many hours (and pounds) in Electro Music. Always very friendly staff and varied stock. Don't live around there anymore, so since EMS stopped trading, there's nothing in Doncaster anymore. Rich Tone in Sheffield is a great, and Rockem in Rotherham is great for drum stuff.

This isn't necessarily the bass that you will receive as the seller looks like a drop shipper. i.e. they don't have this bass to sell and will order it from China when they sell one on Ebay. Probably cheaper to go straight to Aliexpress and buy one from there with a Fender logo on it

I very much agree with this. I have a Stomp too, and it’s an amazing tool, but it’s use and calibration doesn’t bring me joy like messing with a bunch of individual pedals….so yeah, got to go with what adds fun to your tonal journal! For sure! Si

Sibob started following Should I buy an amp or a preamp- which one?
-
My opinion on all of this is this it’s more likely an issue with all the drive pedals you have. If you’ve come from playing guitar, then those pedals may not be voiced brilliantly for bass. What effects/drive pedals are you using? Honestly, all the amps you mention are of similar quality and have the ability to get a good tone, they’ll all sound pretty similar with fairly small EQ changes. The Markbass for example, some people talk about the MB ‘character’, but with the filters off, I’ve my LM2 on an oscilloscope, and it’s basically flat. Anyway, all that to say that a preamp pedal likely won’t resolve the issue, not least because not all FX loops are created equally, some are post EQ (great for bypassing the amps preamp and just making use of the power section), but some are pre EQ (like Markbass), meaning a preamp pedal whether in-line with the amps input, or placed in the FX loop, will simply be adding additional EQ to the amps EQ. So, my personal advice, pending knowing what other pedals you’re using, would be to buy an amp that you can take around to all rehearsal rooms, because a consistency here will help IMO. Then review all your drive pedals in the context of that one amp, and start building a tone you enjoy! Si

How was Your rehearsal last morning or night ?
YellowLedBetterBass replied to nilorius's topic in General Discussion
Musically, pretty solid. What worries me is my bandmates gear - or lack thereof. Our guitarist especially isn't equipped to gig, his pedals are just "every knob turned all the way up" and in a bizarre order, and powered by a daisy chain that feeds back terrible. We run silent stage with in ears and it means he blows out our ears when he stomps on his distortion, the whirring hum sound of it is unbearable. The drummer has 2 cracked cymbals and given how hard he hits them I am worried that the rip he has in one will get bigger and bigger until a shard of metal comes loose and flies at my head. And none of them own their own mic, then complain that the house mics at the rehearsal room aren't the best. Easy solution to that problem folks! -
wavemaker started following Dingwall Super P Far East model?

Coming from years of experience with other Dingwalls (including Supers), if this is truly the one thing that’s keeping you from bonding with the SP1, I‘d suggest wiring the bridge pickup itself in parallel (I’d assume it’s in series from the factory to be able to compete with the P-pickup - can anyone confirm?) You will lose output, but gain clarity and highs - which I understand is what you’re missing at the moment.
