Given the announcement from a couple of days ago, I don't imagine this will be the last of such announcements from a wide variety of businesses. It's crap for Harley Benton, because once the existing stock is gone, it'll cost the US buyers to order from Thomann probably about as much as it would to buy other cheap brands from the US. I guess US sales will drop off precipitously for Harley Benton once existing stock has been sold off. Mark

Yes the Adagios do seem to come up often as good affordable flats. Another one on my list to try 🙂

Another sign of the times I guess. Tariffs are mentioned. Remember the politics guidelines we have. https://www.notreble.com/buzz/2026/01/17/harley-benton-to-close-u-s-reverb-store-ending-direct-u-s-distribution/

A faithful replica of the Gibson lo-z bass humbucker

I'm not knocking the price as I understand the costs involved having designed and built transformers before (priced G.O.S.S. steel lately, and minimum order quantities?), I'm just not able to spend that much on 2 of them. Hope you sell enough on your basses and as free units to make it a worthwhile project for you. - Yesterday

This one was my favourite of the US basses. Patriot, cheapest model they ever made 🙂 Really enjoyed the simplicity of it, set me down the path of single coil P-basses 👍

It wasn't an issue if you hold it like a classical guitar, lower horn hooked over your left leg.

We are 12. But rehersals are always in the same place at the same time. If we are anything from 2 of us and up, we have a session. -

Here's a scan from my Bromberg issue of "Bass player USA" i think these were made between 94-98 not sure how many but i was told mine was one of the later revisions (with the fixed Piezo) & Rick Tunner had A Lot to do with the design of the gubbins/pups (even before Peaveys signing on of Bromberg (RT is in BB's Backstage pass VHS talking about the project)...seems there was quite a bit of fall out after the release though and everyone went their separate ways never to speak again (or so im told) I know from my own research that there were a LOT of problems with the PCB/Electronics/piezo a number of players just ended up ripping it all out and fitting the Bartolini NTBT-918 preamp & piezo buffer as a replacement...something i looked at myself years ago. One thing i do dislike about this bass...you just can not play it sitting down...the hook on the lower horn is quite painful if balanced on your leg ! apart from that it's a stella bass (but quite marmite) Id like to try one of the Dean or Carvin All wood basses of brians design, again never seen one this side of the pond.

They did that. Trim pots on the back of the bass allowed you to set the output level for each string to pan the string left or right if you were going bi-amp. Sold mine last year to a fellow BC member. That's it to the right of my Palaedium. Selection of some other Peaveys I've owned.

Bloody good gig at the Exchange tonight. Left us all buzzing. It was short notice so unrehearsed for ages. We have a big gig at the Earl Haig in February and two rehearsals to sort new material. After tonight happy we don't have to focus on the existing set.

Wow - I haven't seen one of these Odyssey basses in the UK for about 30 years! IIRC, a bass player called Eg White played one of these in his first band, Yip Yip Coyote, circa 1983/4, before he went on to form Brother Beyond. Eg was a really good player and his Odyssey bass sounded incredible. A really rare bass indeed and great to see on here. .. GLWTS 👍😊 -
