  2. I mentioned the U-bass to the band leader in our church band and didn't sense any enthusiasm at all, yet it sounds awesome!
  3. Very good B7K clone. Gets really close to the OG. Price includes postage
  4. Pretty sure everyone knows what these are about. Selling as not being used and could use the £££ Price includes postage in the UK.
  5. It's here if you want it hahaha

  7. Hi all, Here we have my Fernandes Gravity 5x. Bought last year as a back up to my Warwick, but now being sold as I'm trying to move away from 5s and am looking for a different sound. There's not a lot of info out there about these, as they seem to be quite uncommon. It dates from 2008 and is made in China. Twin single coil pickups with vol, vol, tone. Simple as it gets. Tonally it's got a quite aggressive sound, the twin Jazz pickups are really high output, with a really punchy sound. You'll note the front pickup is moved towards the bridge compared to the usual J/J set ups, definitely gives it a funkier, mid-rangey sound. The tone pot is effective all the way round, giving a wide sweep of different tones (and a really funky rear pickup sound). B-string was the biggest surprise for me on this bass. It's very taught and defined, better than many other basses I've had at 4/5x the price. It's in 9/10 condition. It recently had a brand new input jack installed and plays very cleanly across all frets. A nice first foray into a 5 string for someone, or a great reliable, good sounding backup. Weight is a lovely 3.9 kg. Collection from Moreton in Marsh, which is located on the Oxfordshire/Gloucestershire/Warwickshire border. Will happily meet up within an hour's drive for handover, or a bit further for a small petrol contribution (purely due to the low cost of the bass). Thanks for looking!
  8. I own the 4 string version , just superb basses this model. I like the neck in particular, ebony fret board stunning poplar burl on top with an ash and walnut slice sandwich , I think the EMG X and dark glass legacy pre are perfect together , you can get anything you want from the bass , I highly recommend this bass for anyone looking for a quality instrument capable of just about any tone your after.
  9. ...so after a bit of detective work I think the Tolex covered GP12 would have been from about 1995, and the carpet covered from 1998 onwards. I don't think I previously realised there was this much variation in the SMX series, but it looks to me that while the preamp stayed the same the power section started off fairly similar to the older Series 6 amps and then they seem to have moved to a newer power amp design. The faceplates are identical. RE the cabs, I suspect the non-ported one is an older series 6 as both the SMX catalogues I have (tolexed and carpeted) show ports on all the cabs.
  10. You rang?
  11. I have some on my Lakland 44-PJ. I mirror the experience of them really not being what I was expecting, as others have mentioned, way more 'roundwound' in feel than they're perhaps marketed as. That said, for me, the texture wasn't really a make or break.....I mean as long as they don't shred your fingers right?! I would put them on par with a Nickel string, roundwound, but easy to play. My undertstanding is that IMA requested a little more left on the string than their Super Polished....so that makes sense. Tension wise, I experience them more in the realms of the La Bella RX Nickels than their RX Steels, with the latter being a little too stiff for my liking. I wonder whether the polishing process takes a little stiffness out of the string, which is perfect for my preferences. Sound wise I didn't experience them as zingy at all, I thought they were like nice played-in rounds, kinda like a slightly aged nickel (IME steels don't age as well as nickels). So I gigged them and they were great, really enjoyable to play. My main criteria was longevity, so we'll see where get to on that, IMA reckons he got a solid year out of one set, and he gigs WAY more than me....so I'm hopeful. Watch this space. Si
  12. Yeah, I need new tips. Mine are custom, but a decade old. I'd love to get mine fitted into a full case, but... money lol I was looking at the 12 driver KZs... That price is so attractive
  13. #0067, it’s the newer revised version being white , the 1st series being black 👍
  14. Trades? Something might get my attention!
  15. I'm receiving adverts from them since a few days and the Dutch branch seems to be back on tracks now as you can order what they have in stock.
  16. Or buy two or more of the boxes and simply work in multiples of 6 basses ...
  17. I’ve used J-Tones (Reds and Big Twin) and found them to be excellent pickups providing you spend time to get the fit in the bridge wing ‘just right’. I’ve recently moved to a David Gage copperhead, which is a huge improvement over the J-Tones but I guess you’d expect that given the respective price points. So far I’ve had no feedback issues with the copperhead, but I’m playing a gig in a couple of weeks with a notoriously resonant stage so that will be the acid test. Do you used F hole blockers on louder stages?
  18. I think the F# tuning is what many going for a 6 string NG would likely tune to over regular tuning to be fair! But I agree you may want to look at removing the vinyl cover (or at least checking it can be removed cleanly) as its a little niche, don't remember seeing anything like that before!

  20. It's as much to do with international economics as anything deliberate by Pirastro I'd guess? Since Brexity/Trumpin, it's simply crazy
  21. ...also don't think it would be too hard to engineer a rack to sit on the bottom to hold each bass in its own space and stop them making contact with each other, might reduce the bass capacity from seven to six, but hey, who needs seven basses anyway
  22. There's one of these going very cheap in London on eBay, if you're local this is a bargain at about £200 less than they usually go for (I suspect the limed finish is a factor) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/226706773203?campid=5339022111&mkevt=1&mkcid=1&toolid=10050&mkrid=710-53481-19255-0&customid=EAIaIQobChMIpOKk2vHejQMV-4xQBh3q8yDIEAQYASABEgKzvvD_BwE&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=20016378716&gbraid=0AAAAADk7gXOhuH0jOAXDkO1kINhcEa96B&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIpOKk2vHejQMV-4xQBh3q8yDIEAQYASABEgKzvvD_BwE
  23. Hi. Im selling my belived envelope filter. Comes with box and is in nearly mint condition. Never gigged and doesnt get much use hence why im selling. A very dope pedal especially when paired with other dope pedals 😎 can move on the price a little bit.
  24. WTAF is going on with Prastro Olivs? I had an idle look on Bass Bags, who are usually pretty reasonable value for strings, I've always found. A full set of Olivs are now £900!! I mean, are they made of unicorn gut or something? It does make you wonder who exactly they are marketed at, who is their target player? If you compare that with say Evah Slaps which are still less than £250 for a set on the G4M site. Olivs are maybe a bit nicer under the fingers. sound richer (to me, based on only having an Oliv A string!) and take a bow much better, but are completely not worth nearly 4 times the price. I have a friend who is a pro orchestral player as is his wife, and I know for a fact that neither of them will be paying the equivalent of a mortgage payment for any strings at any point ever. So I wonder who Pirastro are expecting will buy a set at that price?
  25. Yes but the blisters pulling it off 😅 I've got dual lock ready to go on to it, but this board has had 27 configurations this week alone and I’m still not convinced by the Capo and Deco.
