  4. Yes but with rubber tips over the end.
  5. Absolutely fine - we just kept the volume down and let the PA do the work. Matt, our lovely sound chap, is a genius.
  6. Lonely Avenue - Ray Charles
  7. I first noticed the hiss this weekend at a gig.
  8. That's an unusual layout Michael. How did it go soundwise ? Dave
  9. That's sad to hear. I agree with what has already been said though, about how they've always seemed a little held back by their sort of internally contradictory relationship with the idea of innovation. They pitch themselves as high tech and the final refinement of the Fender-style design, but they're also trying to trade on their connection to the broader Fender history to an equal or greater extent. As a side note, I've always found it odd when people have such visceral reactions to headstock shapes. Unless it's something deliberately oversized or covered with overbearing ornamental flourishes, I really don't much care. It would never have occurred to me that a little kink in the lower curve of an otherwise conventional four-in-line headstock could elicit such strong reactions one way or another.
  10. I bought a Sub 5 last December unplayed , not seen in person It's had corrective surgery but now I quite like it . The 2EQ is best it's a heavy instrument , but manageable with a proper strap
  11. My previous cabs were 18kg and just manageable for me. I didn't think the extra 3kg in the current ones would be too bad but actually feels like quite a difference. The thought of me, now into my 50's potentially lugging this lot up and downstairs on a weekly basis to then do a 50 mile round trip to a rehearsal space after doing a week of physical work (I'm self employed so I can't afford to do my back in) then to be lugging around to gigs which the band has been doing a lot of has really started to lose its appeal, hence partly the decision to go acoustic and downsized in the amp department.
  12. Hmmm that is a cool bass.
  13. Mercy Street - Peter Gabriel
  14. @basshead56 has a Teal Sub
  15. Highway Star - Deep Purple
  16. 2002 Paul Reed Smith Electric Bass 4. 34” scale fret less, with black furniture including the PRS bridge. Body is Alder and neck is rock Maple with a Rosewood 10” radius fret board and 1 11/16 nut width and 21 fret lines. It has new 20-1 GB707 Black Hipshot tuners (Hipshot provided this exact tuner to PRS when new) including a GB7D-tuner. Currently strung with GHS nylon wound 50-105 strings and will come with a new set as well. It has its original PRS 18v pre-amp with vol-vol-tone and IO switch to play passive. The amp and high inductance passive pick ups were designed by Paul himself in conjunction with LR Baggs. Also has Schaller strap locks Fitted. I bought this basic black bass in 2006 from a music shop in Colorado. I fully intended to de-fret it when I bought it and booked a space on HG Thor’s waiting list to have the work completed. In the meantime I played it a few times but only to keep it tuned and in intonation. Having checked with Stevensville, there were no EB4s made in standard stock with a fretless neck (although there may have been 1or two private stock 4string basses made with a fretless neck, to commission). This makes this PRS a unique. When my place came up in 2009 the neck was sent to Thor’s guitar lab in the US. If you are not aware of his work he produces the Epoxy fretless fretboards used by Jaco Pastorius and many other bass players worldwide. My option for the work was to have the frets removed and replaced by a subtly lighter wood to illustrate the fret lines. His propriety epoxy board covering and with a Matte finish rather than a high gloss. Upon the necks return several months later I refitted the re-worked nut and replaced the neck with its new tuners and set it up with a nice low action. With fresh (2x9v PP3) batteries this bass will cut through any bands tone using either solid state or valve driven amps. It is beautifully balanced plays much like a Jazz bass but with a P-bass neck. Happy to meet 1/2way or you can collect and try first. £1500.
