  3. Manchester - The Beautiful South
  4. That is a great tone, I’m a Duff fan too
  5. I seem to remember a thread by @andytoad about a drunken purchase of a 5 string pink paisley one. How is it Andy?
  6. New, opened but unused Ernie Ball Cobalt Flatwound Short Scale Strings 50 70 90 110 — 2817, Green Silks. No outer packaging, but in mint condition in a clear plastic wallet. £40 inc UK delivery
  7. City Dump — Dyke & The Blazers
  8. that's the video I saw, but on the Jaguar, the mute sit's away from the body. On a bass it's against the body, therefore the hole would be deeper. Last thing I want to do is either drill through or the spring dig a hole and go through.
  9. Yep a deep hole indeed. But that's another good thing you're doing, watching some of your favourite bass players and checking out what they use. I found though, all the bass players I like, I never gelled with the basses they use. They all use Precision and Jazz Basses and my go to and favourite is active Warwick basses. So yeah, definitely try out a few and see what sounds good to your ears and what feels good in your hands! 👍🏽
  10. Lots of mentions of Duff McKagan. He’s the reason I picked up the bass, and this is still my favourite ever pick tone 35+ years later. Fender Jazz Special (the TBX circuit gives a certain emphasis in the upper mids/low highs, that’s not present in my other PJ basses), fresh round wound strings, Dunlop Tortex pic (the yellow 73mm one):
  11. I Need A Bathroom - Focus
  12. Today
  13. Gotta Go - Agnostic Front
  14. Damn. I looked at that list, praying they wouldn't have the only bass I would consider buying, and yep, there it was. Happily its still more expensive than anywhere else so no go for me.
  15. Five CD/1 Blu-Ray set commemorating the best live rock album of all time. Gonna argue? Plus book, poster, replica tour magazine. This copy still sealed and unplayed. Yours for £45 (RRP £70-75). Review from Bluestown Music This 50th anniversary reissue is not just another expensive deluxe box; it is a MUST have album for every rock fan as Deep Purple plays immaculate live versions of fantastic studio material. Highway Star, Child In Time, Lazy and Space Truckin’ are 100% musical live hard rock/metal weapons that hit you like a hammer and kick you in the teeth for sure. Steven Wilson did an impressive job with the remix and all the seven songs (Highway Star, Child In Time, Smoke On The Water, The Mule, Strange Kind Of Woman, Lazy and Space Truckin’) sound powerful, crispy, and immaculate!! This is more than just a collector’s item; it is a must have album for every rock fan and needless to say that you have to play it LOUD. The Super Deluxe edition is a five CD set (plus Blu-ray). CD 1 has a Steven Wilson Dolby ATMOS remix of the original 77-minute album, CDs 2 to 4 have the three seven song sets in performance order and on CD 5 there are all six encore performances for the first time; Black Night at all three shows, two versions of Speed King and one of Lucille, plus three single-only edits for completists!

  16. A thousand results from a LeBonCoin search (100km radius from here, in France...). More than half are not basses (either amps, guitars, hard cases, ceramic vases and more...). Of the several hundred left, most are 'beginner' or 'budget' basses; there are few that would attract attention, still less warrant going to see. The one or two that might (I say 'might'; depends on one's taste..?) interest some here, the prices seem to be... err... 'optimistic'..? A 19c Jaquet contre-bass at 15000€..? S'gonna be hard to shift, I'd have thought. Fender Telecaster bass, 1968..? 5600€. '71 Ricki 4001, at 4000€ and a '67 Guild Starfire XII, with original US case, for 2750€ seem almost reasonable nestled amongst the dozens of accordions offered for several thousand euros each. If it's squeeze-boxes you're after, here's the place.
  17. cheersd for allthe help guys, really appreciate it.
  18. The cable's probably tinned copper. I wouldn't be happy using 40-year old wire when it's easy enough to replace with some new stuff.
  19. I thought this would be about getting the band members to pay their share of the rehearsal space hire. -sometimes just as difficult...
  20. Location would be useful! 😀
  21. Well, it has been nearly two months, so hey-ho and up she rises, etc. Bump.
  22. Thanks mate, it really is a lovely thing, I'll be gigging DB again next year and am buying back my old Mesa Walkabout 15 with that in mind (the WA worked really well for upright and a combo is so much easier if you've also got a 4/4 in the back of the car), and much as I'd love to keep this even I can't justify three large rigs, the WA will do great for DB and smaller gigs, and my M-Pulse with 115/106 for the bigger ones. I'll miss it's lovely edge of breakup tone, I'll miss all that chrome, and I'll miss the inevitable queue of musos at gigs asking about it (and our drummer making jokes about making toast), but c'est la vie
  23. I Gotta Get Outta Here - Alice Cooper
  24. shame about the neck because it's absolutely gorgeous, sure someone could sort it out though and might be worth it for that finish
