  4. I didn't even know where it was - but it was there!
  5. No box or manual. Some cosmetic wear as expected for a used pedal, but it functions exactly as it should. £50 Postage: ~£10 UK at cost Collection available in / around Edinburgh.

  7. Those Boba Fuzz pedals are fantastic, it's a 1:1 clone of the Zvex Mammoth with an added mids control on the Body dial. Looks like Vinnie's knocked his eBay shop on the head as well so there's no new ones available
  8. Hi all, Selling my MXR M76 Studio Compressor, which is identical to the MXR M87 Bass Compressor on the inside (confirmed by MXR who chose to kind of "rebrand" the M87 for people -guitarists- who loved the M87 on guitar but didn't want to have "BASS" on their pedal). A tried and tested compressor that works great, simple to use with LED's showing you how much the pedal is compressing. It is in good condition, currently attached to my pedalboard with velcro. I will provide the box too. Happy to ship across the UK for £5. Thank you
  9. Would the Fifteen work well in a rock/indie rock context? Pbass with pick and rounds. Or is the SV much better suited?
  10. Am looking forward to one of my last gigs this year. It’s at the wonderful Sun Inn in Beverley this coming Sunday. My duo play here once a month, and for our December gig we get some friends up to sing with us as well. Last year was a hoot, and included landlord Paul who sang really well. They get to choose what to sing, so it’s a challenge for us too!
  11. Just saw this on Facebook from Macca: It is very sad to see Höfner go out of business. They have been making instruments for over 100 years, and I bought my first Höfner bass in the sixties. I have loved it ever since. It’s a wonderful instrument to play: lightweight, and it encourages me to play quite freely. It also offers pleasing variations in tone that I enjoy. So, commiserations to everyone at Höfner, and thank you for all your help over the years. - Paul
  12. We played there last week, absolutely superb venue!!
  13. I'm very sorry you feel this way @Stratty42, but you were clearly told the ballpark figure you would be offered for the bass, and my estimate was about right, which you duly accepted and agreed to the sale with it's current owner. I only introduced the sale of the bass in order to help you out in your current situation, and drove the 280 mile round trip yesterday to collect it at my own expense. You will also recall that last night when I realised you had seller's remorse, I offered to return the bass to you directly at no cost to yourself, which you declined, remarking that you 'needed the money'. Sadly, we can't have things both ways. The offer to undo the deal still stands, but the bass will be going to Manchester on Sunday morning and will be out of my hands. Please let me know. I can only do my best for people. I will also publicly state that if I was offered any profits from the sale of this bass, I would forward them straight back to you out of kindness for someone I consider a friend.
  14. Agreed - my favourite gigging bass case!
  15. Thanks Dave, yes I’ve got the pickups adjusted so that the volumes are pretty consistent across all strings. The eq I used on the rehearsal rig was pretty much flat and the lack of depth on D & G was quite clear to me. I think different gauge strings may well be the way forward, and will be fun too. I just wish Elixirs came in short scale.
  16. We recorded 6 tracks at a studio, cost around £400 and then hired a room above a pub for £50 (The Queen of Bradgate in Leicester if you know it). Our guitarists brother filmed it while we mimed and then edited to this showreel. I guess a professional filming and editing would charge around £400 so we saved that cost. Proves you can get something done for less than a grand. We've had at least 10 gigs from it so a great investment. https://youtu.be/5aGfwosPMwk?si=WZ4oI5QiMWHiqLFN
  17. The only suggestions i have is either heavier strings on D & G as you already mentioned or try raising the pick up a touch. Not sure whether its just a volume thing or its purely weak tone you mean. I'm sure Neil Murray once told me that's how he got round volume differences on his older basses was to put a heavier gauge on the weaker pole piece. Raising the pick up is an easy adjustment. Just remember how many turns and if it doesn't resolve it you just put it back to where it was before. Did the rest of the band notice it too. ? I've found with some basses thru certain amps i get differences across the strings. If i have too much bass EQ rather than tweaking up the volume the D &G strings do sound quieter. If i flatten my amp EQ it seems to balance it out again but out front it all sounded balanced, its just what i was hearing on stage. Dave

  19. I’ve just used my Lionel at band practice and noticed the same thing, was wondering if upping the strings from 40-100 to 45-100 might be worth a try.
  20. Hey Rob. In case it wasn't fixed, the following was a message from the main man behind the Genz-Benz heads for servicing in the UK: Contact Surrey Amps - https://surreyamps.co.uk Ask for Stan Lawrence, let him know that Andy Field suggested you contact him for this. He can email me directly, I can walk him through this issue. He's one of the best service engineers in Europe IME.

  22. Yeah, you're right 👍
  23. Did you get this sorted?
  24. Check the distance between the stríngs and the (fret)board. If there is not clearance for the string to vibrate the tone will die - especially the deep tones. Most basses - even the cheapest of cheapest - will (if they have no serious defects) play at least decently if setup properly. So it is very likely something that can be solve by proper adjustment. As You probably bought this from new and may not be able to set it up yourself I would recommend starting by complain about the issue to Thomann and hear what they can offer.
  25. Just got in from my first band practice with my new Sandberg Lionel. Sounds great on the E & A strings but D & G a bit weak. It’s still got the stock 40-100 strings on it so am thinking 45-100 might beef it up a bit, but has anyone else noticed this on theirs, and if so how did you get around it?
  26. Just about up to date. Best played on shuffle - Enjoy!!
