  6. Number one (the 8") stood out, I thought, as having a nice top end but without sacrificing the bottom end (6 was pretty good too) I thought it would be a 10" or 12".
  7. One of the things I like about BC more than social media is its the one place there's no political BS. Its become rather overwhelming everywhere else and im sure thats partly due to deliberate manipulation of algorithms. There's even the bit useful advice here.
  8. Gah! Also kicking myself... should have played it through rather than just glance at it. Great track.
  9. Having scoured YouTube last night, I think I know what to do.. I'm going to attempt to correct the bow today using heat and clamps. More news and pics anon.
  10. Sale only at the minute ideally but could pontentially consider trades ideally with cash my way (via pm obviously)
  11. I stopped for a while around 2001/2002, not really much going on musically, tired of chasing. It was quite cathartic to just clear out more or less everything; I kept a bass - a '70s Precision bass - in its/it's case and let it sleep for a bit. Genuinely felt good to free myself from playing for a bit.
  12. No probs, they are a big of a marmite brand tbf. GLWTS

  14. A few years back I bought a Hamer Cruisebass; it was a series 1 model and didn't have a scratchplate (others did). After a bit if jiggery-pokery, a member of the Hamer Discussion Group scanned his plate, I sent the schematic to Gig Ink, they made up the plate (without holes) and I attached it to the body with some strategically placed strips of 3M double sided tape.

  16. With regards to this issue. Do you think it‘s worth investing in a steel ruler that is long enough to measure a 34“ scale length or is that gilding the lilly?
  17. Cheers HB 👍 The odd thing is, and I’ve said on other threads before, that tonally my ‘95 Ray isn’t even one of the better Rays I’ve played and owned… I’m just a sentimental guy I suppose as me and the ‘95 have been through a lot together. My mid 90s fretless Ray is a real peach though, sounds stunning. This Special genuinely is the better bass over my ‘95 😬

  19. I actually prefer a direct sale, but it always depends. Maybe you can send me your ideas via pm.

    Hello

Hi everyone, I'm Bado, Scotland based musician. I have been playing bass guitar for 30+ years and double bass for 25. I do a lot of original music, a fusion trio, a harp and double bass duo, a world music group and also sideman work with singers, and a 50's r'n'r band. I've composed four full scores for theatre and continue to explore different avenues of expression with multiple instruments and diverse lineups. I play a Shen double bass with a wonderful Dolling german bow and spirocore weich strings. My main bass guitars are a '94 Yamaha TRB5F fretless with heavy Rotosound '66's and an '80 Hohner P-bass copy with light LaBella flats. I play through a TC Classic 450 combo which was a kind of prototype or first version of the rebel heads with a 2x10 cab that accommodates the head. It's neat and loud and transparent, that I like. I have had an account here a good while ago, but being also a father of two, I didn't have a lot of time for forums. I came back on to participate in discussions, share opinions and learn about gear and exciting music from all of you.
  24. Yes gorgeous bass, my dream body and neck combo. Just can’t afford it right now. GLWTS my man
