  1. Past hour
  2. Confession time I’d just learned it whilst waiting to go on and it was the only thing that popped into my head when the host pointed at me and said “bass solo!”
  3. Great set up. Ran exactly the same rig for a few years pre covid. GLWTS
  4. Woof, nope never to old. Drop me a pm
  5. Just play a blues bass line. I picked the walking section from Cold Day in Hell - should be easy for a man of your talents
  6. Up for sale is my immaculate Funky Puppy. It's pretty much as new, with probably less than 2 hours play time on it and not even got velcro on the bottom! I used to own both Chunk Systems pedals (Brown Dog Fuzz and 00Funk Mk2 Envelope Filter) years ago, and wanted to revisit the sounds for nostalgia's sake. This pedal is a combination of both in one box, and sounds exactly as I remember them. Super cool to have the "Link" function on a footswitch (the original pedals had to be connected via cable through a dedicated link jack). The envelope gets pretty wild, and the fuzz covers everything from gated and synthy to fat and heavy. Combine an octave pedal with it, and you are in synth heaven! Only reason for the sale is that I have too much gear, and not enough time to play with it all! The Really Good Pedal Co. site will give you all the info re controls and specs. These are not being made at present (I believe the builder is taking a break), and if they were, you would also then pay shipping, import duty and VAT from Australia like I did, so I think I've priced this pretty fairly. Either of the Chunk pedals this is based on go for well over that alone! Asking £250 + postage. Based in Ickenham, NW London if you want to collect/meet nearby.
  7. That'd be nice. Thanks
  8. Thanks for your comments-yes a truly beautiful looking and sounding bass.
  9. Maybe we need to run a wiki of some sort on routers, they are probably the most difficult power tool to use. It's much safer all round to only use them with a jig or mounted on a table. I have a 1/2" router that I use for cutting kitchen work tops and any big jobs I do like shaping architraving or skirting boards. I pretty much won't/can't use it freehand for anything I have router tables so the machine is static and I move the workpiece, I also have an ELU 1/4" router which has a bit of a soft start but even so you can't start it enywhere near the workpiece as it still needs a lot of strength and skill to manuvre. It's roughly 1HP so it's literally got a kick like a horse and routers operate at really high speeds so it's like guiding a gyroscope, it wants to go it's own way. I round all my edges with it in mounted in the router table and move the cabs. I'm wondering about getting one of the little trimmers for the odd small job.
  10. I can lend you a butter knife and you could go at it like Jaco, if you like.
  11. This is a superb performance from Robert Hurst. The tune is called 'Lament' and it is from the 1987 Branford Marsalis album, 'Renaissance'. I had this on CASSETTE - remember them!! The details are a revelation and spending some time with this transcription will give you material you can draw upon for the rest of your days. Mostly an easy enough read but there are some bars that will challenge the best of us. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/lament-branford-marsalis/
  12. Read up on it and we have been in contact with the ME Society currently on waiting list for the local ME Specialist team. But will take any advice - PM me
  13. Are you thinking of Zero Mod? https://www.zero-mod.com
  14. Awesome mic, used about 5 times for some bass tracking. Comes with box, leaflets etc. happy to post, or can meet Kettering/ Bedford/ Stevenage type areas. Shout with any questions. Thanks
  15. Luxury! Why, when I were a lad ...
  16. Very decent piece of rack gear, equally suitable for studio or live use (I've used it both ways). The two multi-way cable clips on top are there by self-adhesive stuff and will remove. I found them useful enough to choose to leave them there for the new owner. The original box is present, as seen in the photos, but not the polystyrene inserts. I'll use bubble wrap for postage. 17. Very little used since Covid, time to move it on. Comes with all the little bits of cabling etc. Condition is as near pristine as you're likely to find. Full specs are here: https://philjonesbass.net/cms/product-ha-1/
  18. CR2032 battery holder for the (removable) LED strip along the neck.
  19. Just tried the Clayton Acetal standard .80 pick. I should’ve known with it being a harder material, but it plays thicker than its gauge due to how stiff it is. I’ve got so used to that bit of flex from medium nylon picks, and these don’t have much give at all, it felt like I was fighting with it the whole time. Feels like a .88 green Tortex to me, or a 1mm nylon. It’s clicky like a Tortex too. It has a decent grip (always found Tortex either too powdery or too smooth in this regard), but for a .80 pick, this is far too stiff for my liking. I suspect I wouldn’t even like their .63 for the same reason. May have to give these away as I have 6 of them and probably won’t use them again.
  20. Many people I know went to Wembley that day. I remember sitting at a table on the pavement outside a pub with a bottle of pils, wondering where everyone had gone.
  21. Today
  22. Morning all, she certainly is one of a kind... What an instrument, the finish is out of this world and we all felt very privileged to visit Grainger this weekend. Thank you Gav and Daz 🩵 Had there been a sofa, Led Zepp soundtrack and a ☕ machine I never would have left 😉 Fallen hard for one particular resin myself!
  23. I notice that EBMM's ernest committment to authenticity on these PIno basses doesn't extend to equipping them with Rotosound RS66 strings gauged ,40/60/75/95. That's the set PIno used on all those classic recordings and, last I heard, still his choice for roundwound strings. PIno never did the Stingray with flats thing until now, as far as I know. That said, I also know that his original Stingray has had at least three different fingerboards on it due to wear from roundwounds strings, so maybe flats is a sensible choice in respect of that.
