Fender Jazz Bass 1965 L-series w/ ohsc €7.000
SurroundedByManatees posted a topic in Basses For Sale
Fender Jazz Bass 1965 Original L series Fender Jazz Bass from 1965 with an old nitro refinish. Possibly the original color was olympic white, as I can’t find a trace of another color in the cavities. The bass is all original, apart from the refinish. The decal is original too, though there has been some sanding around it, it seems. Probably to remove the dirt around it. All electronics and hardware function like they should. The neck is straight with a good functioning truss rod. The pickups are the original grey bottoms, which are undated. The pots date to week 12 1965. Overall condition is very good. There are small damages and usermarks around, but nothing shocking. Soundwise it’s one of the (if not the) best jazzes I’ve owned. The sound is warm, deep, clear, punchy… very nice. Thomastik flats are fitted; which are a perfect match. Especially through a nice tube amp; just lush. Playability is great too, a low action is not a problem. The neck has a nice worn in feel too it. Weight is 3,95kg on my kitchen scales. The original case is included, and it’s still sturdy and totally functional, though the toplayer of the logo is missinh. The original chrome pickup covers are included as well. This bass will possibly be withdrawn for sale if my '70 Competition Mustang sells first. Price for straight sale €7.000 Partial trades (lower value basses, guitars) are negotiable though. I'm not after anything specific at the moment. -

Does it have to be rack mount? looked at Sushibox effects? something like the underground accelerator is a orange/fender style preamp and can be driven, or he has Ampeg type or fender bossman - all running at proper plate voltages. Or the Two notes revolt https://www.two-notes.com/en/revolt-bass/ or older Le Bass will have tubes and overdrive in (though can't promise how the tube is used in the circuits)

Very quick first impressions after a 10 minute play around are that it might be really good. It’s still not the most attractive pedal but miles better than the bigger one. Patch handling is clearly far superior to the MXR. Better info on the pedal with screen and input level lights. Tracking seems to be at least as good, my gut feeling is better but not had long enough a play to say for sure. Patches are a weak point currently, too many silly ones, not enough (or maybe just too spread out) useable ones for playing actual bass lines. But the 4.5 update could push this miles in front of the MXR I’d say, particularly if the DX7 stuff tracks as well as the current patches.

I'm fairly sure the Cembalet is the same type of reeds as my Pianet of the same era. If you have to remove and re-mount one they tend to keep their tuning very well, they're held with a single flat headed machine screw through a hole in the reed, with quite close tolerances. New reeds are tuned by filing either at the free end to reduce the mass and raise the pitch, or across the flex point by the screw end, which reduces the stiffness and lowers the pitch. But the factory tuning is usual good for the life of the instrument. -

I have a Fender TBP1 and very nice it is. It gets (for me) a bit hairy around the edges in a good way. Crunchy distortion is not my bag so I have not spent time on that aspect of it. I could, and record some examples if you want.

Hey, finally took the plunge and pulled the trigger on a replacement pick up for my cheap Vintage stingray. Bought it as a project to do up over time. Firstly I gothed it right up by swapping all hardware to black previously. Im a serial faffer/breaker of most things i put my hand to but love to give it a go. Im never aiming for super high quality finish just to learn something along the way. Bought an Aguilar AG4M pick up to replace the stock one. While im at it I have replaced the pots and just mirrored what the AG4M diagram says to use. Cleaned and put sheilding tape in the cavity (not sure if it actually helps or not but looks better anyways. Didnt want to try anything too wild for my first attempt at something like this. Big thank you to the advice of a few members that i got on another thread i asked about soldering. All in all enjoyed this first part of the project and to my surprise everything actually works 😂 . Blanked off the other hole with something I found in work. It fits so it's ment to be. Not sure what to do next 🤔. Like the idea of brass nut but think that might be out of my depth. Few pics of progress so far. Needs a good clean up now its done for now

Laney R500H 500w Bass Amp I'll put some current pics up tomorrow but here's the thread from when I bought it off here. I've only used it live a couple of times. Moving it on cos I've just bought an EBS 350 off here and I don't need 3 amps. No trades ta I have the original box and courier will be around £10. There was one on eBay from Japan for £400+ so obviously it's rare, desirable and probably lawsuit era 😂 New pics added Original post
