  1. Past hour
  2. Based on the role of bass and there's no denying Jaco's talent,I'm not sure his style of playing as impressive as it was was what bass needed. Looking at what came before during and after I dare to suggest that James Jamerson's style of playing was more "useful" to bass and popular music in general. As controversial as that may sound. Just to clarify that I'm not a Jaco hater.
  3. Super - thank you
  4. Home at last and a beer cracked 🍻 Fun as ever and good to catch up with everyone.
  5. Yep, see the three little dots on the top right hand side. Click on "Report" and ask the moderators to move it. They are typically very responsive in a short timeframe and will move it. Could also ask for them to remove all bar the original post to tidy up the thread. Cheers!
  6. Thanks Stub. Herea link to us performing Ohio last year.
  7. Apologies - it’s been more than five years since I’ve posted or sold anything on here. Is there a way to move the post into the correct thread?
  8. That looks a great EUB for someone on the forum ... and keenly priced. However, I would repost it for maximum exposure in this forum: https://www.basschat.co.uk/forum/76-eubs-double-basses-for-sale/
  9. Starting to rethink my board…
  10. Aria Custop Shop SWB EUB for sale with Spirocores (cost £200). Great bass for someone starting on jazz upright. Selling as part of a clear out triggered by house renovation (and to help finance a new piano). Stand included.
  11. Ohio is exactly the song for these times. Well done for playing it.
  12. Wasn't feeling the gig. I made the mistake of not eating anything before the gig. This was a multi band gig. We played from 5:00-6:00. Well attended ticketed event , $35.00. Part of the problem was the room . Huge room on the marina ( Lake Michigan)with extremely high ceiling and lots of glass. Great lighting with smoke but the stage sound was not good. The amp provided was SWR cabs a 15" and a 4 10s. I stood right in front of the rig and couldn't hear a thing. Not much coming from my monitor either. Our band leader/ front person stayed engaged and positive with the crowd. Daryl
  13. Can i just say, this forum always perks me up! Thanks a load to ALL of you!

  14. Loving the double-compressor approach, I bet the rig sounds really nice. A bit off topic but I have never seen that SFX pedal before, can't find any info on it either 🤓 and it looks pretty cool.
  15. ACS Custom. Not cheap, but bloody good. I put off getting some for years, after having sworn by the Christmas tree type ones (Etymotic ER-20's), but decided to finally take the plunge and get some moulded ones. They're simply head & shoulders above the other "off the shelf" ones. Initially went for the 20dB filters, found them a bit too effective, so got some 17dB filters, which are perfect. Tried some Alpines, I found them fiddly and didn't sit in my ears very well. ACS Custom Earplugs
  16. Nice job Dave. Great crowd and great looking venue. You guys sound very tight in the video. I listened to both clips with earbuds. Daryl
  17. I have a GK Legacy 800 112 combo. Sounds great. Very portable. Very powerful at 400w stand alone and 800 with extension cab. If I was buying again, I think I would go for the Fusion 800 instead for the Tube Preamp section. Legacy is a shade under 15kg and the Fusion is a little heavier at about 16kg. Also have 115, 210, 212 and 410 options.
  18. I have a checklist to make sure i never forget anything. I started it because i forgot my Glam Rock boots at one of our earlier gigs and had to wear black trainers but it did feel weird not wearing them 🤩 Glad it turned out ok in the end tho and that's the main thing. Dave
  19. Evening kids! Just a quick note to say thank you to everyone who attended. @prowla and I sorted out the fundamentals and after settling out our expenses for hall hire/food, we made a £75.00 profit, which I'll pay into COATs charity when I'm there on Tuesday. Disappointingly, we overran on the presentations, so round two of 'What's That Bass?' was shelved. Next year maybe. As there was a low amount of donations for the raffle, this was parked too. We did see a Behringer pedal got left behind (this was a raffle donation), so if it's OK Paul (@prowla) will pop that up in the classifieds here. All in all, a fun day. Home now. Glass of red incoming! Until 2026, best to all! Paul
  20. A couple of snaps from EUB corner...
  21. Yes, great fun! Thanks to the organisers for all the work!
  22. Ah I can’t say I live in Crowthorne, I’m just down the road in Sandhurst past wellington college. It’s a nice part of the world, I hear Hungerford's not so bad!
  23. shame about the neck because it's absolutely gorgeous, sure someone could sort it out though and might be worth it for that finish
  24. I bought an Eden 2x10 cheap because it's old and weighs 22kg. I reasoned that while I'm 53, I do strength training and it shouldn't really be a problem to carry it. I can do a one trip load with my head and effects in a bag, gig bag over my shoulder and hefting the speaker as well as I can, but it's not fun and I'm looking to upgrade in the near future. I'm not gigging either, one trip from a distant parking option and I reckon I'd be cooked!
  25. Today
  26. I currently use Alpine earplugs to keep the volume down at rehearsals and gigs but was wondering what better ones there are on the market. For me, they take out lots of frequencies so I hear myself too loudly. That may be the only way it can be but I thought I'd ask. I'd like to hear everything but quieter if at all possible!!
