Fender Vintera 60s Jazz vs Squier Classic Vibe 60s Jazz: which one?
Supernaut replied to Marvin's topic in Bass Guitars
40th Anniversary if you can find one. I had a Chinese Squier and it's far superior to that. IMHO. -
I bought an amp cover from David (that he got with an amp I sold to him about a month ago... long story!) and he was a pleasure to deal with all the way. Great comms, quick postage, nice item. Many thanks!

They usually say that the Squier Classic Vibe series are the top of the Squier range--- this one tops them all! Very good condition with very dark fretboard and black gloss. It has no scratch plate by design. It is Active with a master volume control, blend then 3 band EQ. The frets have been levelled and polished and the intonation is spot on. The truss rod has been adjusted to give a nice low action and is very comfortable to play and has a great tone with a warm punch. Really muscular tone which is wonderful! Electrics work as they should with no nasty scratchy sounds from the pots. No case. Happy to post at buyers expense. £ 300 Chaddesden, Derby All proceeds will go towards a charity for the homeless in Derby and a Home for street kids in Bogota, Colombia. Please check out my other adds.

Urgh. SWR and Genz Benz were ruined by Fender - really hope G&L doesn't go the same way.

Yes. You could just set the chat to ignore. Leaving the conversation seems childish. If he has issues but can't talk then that's his problem.

Black Fender P Player Bass with in beautiful condition. The Player series are a step up from the ordinary! Serial number MX18005295. June 2018 They say: There's nothing more classic than a Fender electric bass, and the Player Precision Bass is as authentic as it gets - genuine Fender style and the rumbling, seismic sound that spawned a thousand imitations. With its smooth playing feel and spotlight-ready style, this thunderous bass is ready to enter the studio or prowl the stage and help show the world your creative vision. It’s been well set up. The truss rod has been adjusted to give a nice low action and is very comfortable to play and has a great tone with a warm punch. The electrics have been sprayed with Contact Spray, so they work as they should with no nasty scratchy sounds from the pots. The frets have been levelled and polished and the intonation is spot on. The neck has been treated with lemon oil so it’s clean and ‘fed’. Happy to post at buyer’s expense. No case £550 Chaddesden, Derby DE21 4JJ All proceeds will go towards a charity for the homeless in Derby and a Home for street kids in Bogota, Colombia.

Here we go with 'pre-Fender' G&L for sale' adverts, I suppose.

Sunburst Fender Power Jazz Bass with in beautiful condition. The Power series is quite rare and is active with piezo pickups under the bridge! See the picture of the wiring under the scratch plate! This series is a massive step up from the ordinary! It sounds huge! Serial number MZ7083536 so it’s 07/2007 The Power Jazz Bass® features two standard Jazz Bass® single-coil pickups coupled with a four-saddle piezo Fishman® Power Bridge (for acoustic/electric tones) with two volume controls as normal, then an ordinary tone control for the standard pickups then a stacked tone control for the active piezo pickups! It’s been well set up. The truss rod has been adjusted to give a nice low action and is very comfortable to play and has a great tone with a warm punch. The electrics have been sprayed with Contact Spray, so they work as they should with no nasty scratchy sounds from the pots. Reverse tuners! They say: With more tonal variations than ever before, the Power Jazz Bass® guitar is all about providing more power at your fingertips. It all starts with the pickups - the Power Jazz Bass® features two standard Jazz Bass® single-coil pickups coupled with a four-saddle piezo Fishman® Power Bridge (for acoustic/electric tones) and independent volume controls for precise pickup blending. Other features include an alder body, modern "C"-shaped maple neck with rosewood fingerboard, vintage-style Jazz Bass® control knobs and chrome hardware.

At the very least I'd expect Fender to discontinue all the Fender clone models, which is a substantial chunk of the G&l skinny stringer range. Hopefully the L series basses will stay on account being substantially different from anything Fender are currently offering, but I wouldn't be totally suprised if Fender stopped continous production of all G&L models in favour of doing limited runs of specific Leo Fender designed models. As mentioned by @Jean-Luc Pickguard above, if the rumours are true, I suspect Fender probably see more value in the company's heritage and assets than they do in the actual brand. They may even just be motivated by the desire to stop another company buying G & L & acquiring their rights to use Leos name in conjunction with their products.

I have three USA G&L basses. Love them and they ain't going nowhere. Real shame if they get swamped by the Big F.

Lightweight and quite rare Fender Japan Precision Lyte Active bass guitar! It’s probably the lightest bass you’ve ever tried! Standard 34” scale length. 7.5lb (3.5kg)! It’s sunburst. Unusually, the coating isn’t cracked and peeling though there are a few age related dings. It has a high-mass bridges for superb sustain and stability, active electronics with 2-band EQ and Blender and beautifully voiced PJ pickups for a huge palette of sounds. 9v battery for the active circuit. The neck is really slim and fast--- much more like a Jazz bass than a standard P bass: 38mm. 22 frets so it’s a full 3 octaves (normal P or Jazz bass has 20 frets, so only goes up to Eb) Serial number: K013970, which indicates it was made in 1993-1994. Excellent condition for its age. The neck heel has the MicroTilt adjuster, the hardware is all gold. It’s been well set up, with the intonation set correctly and a lovely smooth action. The neck has been treated with lemon oil so it’s clean and fresh. Check out the video link from Normans Rare Guitars: https://youtu.be/UQgLBGelkCQ Happy to post at buyer’s expense. I have a 2022 CLF L-1000 and it's a lovely instrument. It's at the lighter end of my basses and it's a beautifully made instrument. The wood grain on the neck and fretboard are pretty spectacular for what is basically a factory-produced bass. I bought it in matcha green though so that should probably be taken into account in considering how much weight to give the earlier sentences...
-
I reckon they'd release a Fender L2000 if the buyout rumours are true. I don't know what happens to the other MFD pickups, I can't see them releasing a P or PJ with the SB1/2 pups unless it was a US line. Same with the locking bridge, maybe that only gets used in the US Ultra (or not all) sort of range.

Made a show reel and demo of my compact pedalboard. No tweaking or talking, just going through my dialled presets in scene and stomp mode.

I've gone for the full AUROK branding on the front. Flying the flag for this excellent venture, as it were. I've also had the body logo'd with MGCS Basses, in order to promote @Silky999's excellent work too. I just ordered another set of the Fender Pure Vintage 66's today, and the Gotoh black lollipop tuners.
