Then by this parameter I guess I hate tbe sound of the high C string. How that belongs on an instrument known for providing low end is beyond me. -

...and yet as someone who has an entirely analogue board the appeal of a pedal with a familiar shape and a few extra tricks up its sleeve for occasional use is appealing... never even been remotely tempted by the Line6 stuff as too much scrolling...

Tone , volume , and a baritone switch , that gives it a little top and mid boost. Makes it a bit brighter.

Bought a Reunion Blues gig-bag from Rob this week. Excellent communication throughout and package arrived exactly as described in what can only be described as bullet-proof packaging. Trade with Rob with utmost confidence. A credit to Basschat in my book. Snorkie635

Gasp, I've just ordered a set of roundwound strings!
ossyrocks replied to ossyrocks's topic in General Discussion
Well, they're on the bass now ('73 Precision). They are going to take some getting used to after playing flats for a long time! Also had to have the neck off and tweak the truss rod, as well as action and intonation. I've stuck a bit of foam under the strings by the bridge to lessen the difference until I get used to them. I got a message last night asking if I was free to be house bass at a funk jam tonight, so I'm thinking of taking this bass. Nothing like being dropped in at the deep end! This is potentially 2 hours of playing, so that should give me some idea. Rob -

You’re trying to drive your audience away? Why exactly would a bass solo help ? -

99% off bass solos suck. Jaco Pastorius bass playing isn't enjoyable. Better to study and learn then listen to for enjoyment. -

It’s interesting how at various times Zoom and Eventide have tried the “buy the hardware and then paid software add ons” - which in theory should work - but in practice people just want to buy a thing and have all of it.

I do two very different types of gigs so I'm going to give two different answers (assume playing well is a given) - Local - Good crowd, getting paid so we can invest back into the band, happy for us to do the sound (unless there is an engineer who is used to bands that don't just do the traditional formats), not going to bed too late. National / International - No big egos from other bands / promoter / my band(!) etc, decent stage / sound, proper rider that follows the simple instructions (although I am a professional so I rise above it!), decent crowd, shift a load of merchandise, quiet hotel. I must confess that since hitting 50 a couple of years back, I am deliberately doing more of the former as the later seems to struggle ticking some of those boxes! I'm definitely more selective with age.

Yeah, it feels like a day late and a dollar short. Not for the first time, I look at this and see a Boss/Roland product with a UI from the 1990s. I'm watching the Andertons vid now, and comparing this to my powerful and flexible HX One, this feels... quaint. Sure, you get the classic Boss form factor... but the compromises are significant.

I'm in bulgaria (brit expat) where there is always a considerable markup cause there are no big distributors here, thomman germany is about the closest real music shop, everyone locally orders from them and charges you the delivery. Ordered several times from Muziker, they always proved to be reliable and cheaper than thomman. I had a discussion with their customer service re a arturia keylab 88 b-stock, they informed me B-stock is either something returned within the statutory 14 days allowance (not a defect return) or if it is marked as unboxed it has been a demo unit in their physical store in slovakia, something to be aware of - the unit was perfect an worked just fine. We still have cash on delivery via couriers and they not only interface well with this system (82p uk for the COD service) they included as part of the free delivery the cash on delivery with inspection service which allows you t oopen the box and check for defects before paying, if you find a defect you can reject it. Also very comprehensive internal order status reports and you always get a tracking number before it leaves the warehouse. Waiting for my model 15 to arrive which was 50 quid cheaper than anything locally.

I owned the Bugera Veyron M for some time, and really liked it sound wise, but the fan was a bit on the noisy side for me, so it went to a friend who plays really loud as it was not an issue for him. Otherwise I would have kept it and would have simply put a Noctua fan in it. Good choice, really.

Kinga Glyk's tasteful, musical side...
Hellzero replied to HeadlessBassist's topic in General Discussion
She is a very great player and I'm almost following her since the beginning of her career. That said, as I already wrote, her actual band is quite meh sounding, too Polish (if you've ever been to Poland, you'll know what I mean), so poorly sounding and boring synths everywhere, which is quite a shame... Her previous band was, to me, better sounding.- 1 reply

There is a distinct difference between the earlier model 3500 Transient Attack and the HA 3500 in that being the power transformer. The 3500 TA has a shell-core transformer. The HA 3500 has a toroidal transformer. They aren't interchangeable because of physical design and wiring, and the shell core is unavailable, while the HA model replacement transformer is available from Compass Systems online.

An ideal gig? One where the band (and especially me) played well and sounded good, the sound crew (if there was one), promoter and the audience went home impressed and happy, and the band got paid and rebooked, and I played with great musicians, especially the drummer. That's happened quite a lot over the years.
