  2. Hi I'm about to order 4 piezeo speakers for an Omni 10.5 kindly donated by @neepheid (who apparently is searching for capacitors as I write this). I believe the originals were Goldwood 1016's but these seem to be somewhat more difficult to find than an honest politician. Recommendation for a replacement looks like the GRS PZ1016 https://www.soundimports.eu/en/grs-pz1016.html OR the Monacor MPT-06 https://www.thomann.co.uk/monacor_mpt_016.htm Both have high shipping costs relative to the costs of components, though Thomanns tweeter is nearly 3x the price of the GRS one. Is anybody interested in a lareger order OR does anybody have 4 x Goldwood 1016;s OR Monacor MPT-06 OR GRS PZ1016 tweeters they want to sell and move on,. Thanks Rob
  3. Yep I’ve always preferred most of the bass from backline in small / medium venues
  4. Small cab, lightweight, but as discussed on many posts, produces a surprisingly big sound for a 10" 200W speaker (8 ohms) Some tolex peel/shrinkage, mostly visible on the back, but otherwise sound This version has the fabric front, so marginally lighter (6.7kg) than the one with the metal grille Roqsolid cover is as new Pickup preferred but I can courier this at cost if necessary

  5. Anyone need a PA amp? Usual excellent Crown quality, this amp has only had light use and comes in a Chord carry bag. Not sure what the total weight is, but the amp on its own is under 4kg, so very portable XLR inputs, Speakon outputs for most users, plus various other options as per photos As well as standard Stereo, the amp can be configured as follows: Crossover Mode (CH1=LPF, CH2=HPF) – this mode enables a LowPass Filter on Channel 1 and a HighPass Filter on Channel 2 at the frequency chosen. LowPass Mode (CH1=LPF, CH2=LPF) – this mode enables a LowPass Filter on both Channel 1 and Channel 1 at the frequency chosen. HighPass Mode (CH1=HPF, CH2=HPF) – this mode enables a HighPass Filter on both Channel 1 and Channel 2 at the frequency chosen. You can also put it into 'Bridge' mode for seriously high levels of output (according to the spec 1.5kW into 4ohm) Pickup from Uxbridge area, or I'll courier to you at cost.

  6. I've been more than a bit smitten with my '95 Aguilar equipped Stingray, so you might say this is a natural addition... After selling off a few instruments over the last few weeks, I picked up this 2023 Stingray Special 5 in 'Smoked Chrome' yesterday. I first saw it when @lowregisterhead had it up for sale on here. I knew where it went, and traded a couple of instruments along with quite a few pictures of the Queen in order to acquire it yesterday. The setup was very good and curved accurately to the fingerboard as was, but I put 40-125 Elixirs on it last night, and today made some small adjustments, including raising the humbucker according to MM specifications. The ceramic pickup still has the typical 'MM chewy sizzle' (yes, that's a technical term!) and looking over it, you can sort of see where the money has gone. I think MM are going the premium route these days, making less instruments, but really concentrating on top quality (and raising the prices considerably too!). The Special's new titanium tuners are much thicker and feel great in the hand, and the border between the glossed headstock & the oiled neck is utterly perfect. I've always liked basses with ebony fingerboards, too. Consider me suitably impressed!
  7. I’d say it’s more subtle, although when it’s fully counterclockwise it gets nice and smooth. The few times I’ve used it I tended use it max out on either side. Greg the owner of Celebrity Pedals is very responsive on Instagram/Reverb/his own website if you want to ask for exact specs!
  8. The only supplementary (apart from playing) exercises I've done have been: To stretch apart the fingers on my left (fretting) hand; over the years the span of my left hand tip of index finger to tip of pinky is about an inch more than my right. Touching each fingertip to my thumb. Generally wiggling fingers. Using a PC keyboard. I've never done anything strength-wise. Playing-wise I've generally learned songs - they help build the muscle memory and bring in different styles of playing. For the rght-hand I use a pick and/or fingers; I like to try and be able to play something by either method, but I tend to find pick is more precise and fingers more free-flowing. I think a deficiency of my playing is I don't know the scales, but when someone starts talking about mixolydian or whatever I often think "oh, that's like this one I play". I also think it's been remiss of me not to learn to read music, but maybe one-day I'll put serious effort in; OTOH, I subscribed to the idea that I want to play my stuff rather than be an automaton doing what someone else has written note-for-note.
  9. Price drop to £80
  10. Superb quality padded hotcovers protection for the Markbass 801 combo. It is in great condition. Price includes InPost locker postal service within England, Scotland and Wales.
  11. IME unless you are also a prolific song writer with plenty of drive to enable you to organise the other musicians, you are better off joining an existing band.
  12. I rarely talk about politics with my bandmates. I certainly don't bring up the topic of politics with them. I've had sneaking suspicions about some ex bandmates world views but never investigated further - because I didn't want their political views to have an effect on the musical relationship I had with them. If I did find out they had views that were VERY extreme, I might think twice about playing in a band with them.
  13. Price drop now £115! Inspired by both new and old, the AfterLife has FOUR different internal analog circuits that provide 2 distortions and 2 fuzzes. Providing plenty of headroom and a ton of gain, these four selections will cover all the distorted ground you’ve got. While the outside boasts a lone Mode selection knob and a Volume control, there’s more under the hood to this one. Internal adjustable trimpots are available for all four modes, with parameters like overall Volume, Bias, Gain and Filter. The enclosure is 100% Solid Aircraft Aluminum Machined. The artwork on the front and back is laser-engraved, and each AfterLife pedal is 100% hand-wired and hand-built. Collect from Chesterfield or add £5 for UK postage. Cheers! Sam
  14. Price drop now £275!!! Fantastic lightweight cab in mint condish! Collect from Chesterfield (5 mins from M1 J29). Cheers!
  15. PRICE DROP NOW £220!!! Here’s my TC Electronic RH450 in used condition. Everything works perfectly - this is a proper workhorse of an amplifier, and small/light enough to use as a backup when gigging. Collect from Chesterfield (5 mins from M1 J29) or I can post for an additional £15. Cheers! Sam

  16. What I love about these Mk I versions is that, at the flick of the impedance switch, you get the full 500w into 8ohms. No need for an extension cab. Plus, they sound really good. Like....*really* good.
  17. Looks like the original version which sounds a fair bit nicer than the more recent Mk3/Mk4 models!
  18. Someone buy this please - I’d love it but have no use for it right now! Used to have the amp head version, the 120. Ran it into a 2x15 cab with EV’s, was never wanting for tone or volume. Given the seller’s location , this combo probably came from the same shop as mine, Kitchen’s in Leeds who were Acoustic distributors. Bump for a fabulous combo. GLWTS.
  19. I’d start with a duo and work up to that

  21. A bit of personal nostalgia this morning, the complete Jon Camp bass part from the 1978 Renaissance single 'Northern Lights. It was on the band's album, 'A Song For All Seasons'. A lovely part. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/northern-lights-renaissance/
  22. Probably not into the reactor core, but y'know...
  23. Yesterday I took a trip to the physiotherapist with both DB and BG. This revealed that part of the problem is when playing BG (or guitar) seated; the position of my right shoulder is drawn backwards such that it causes pain to go down the arm after a few minutes. For the moment, practicing standing up will be required until I can work out a good seated position, perhaps with a proper stool (something that can fold to go to jams & gigs).
  24. The idea of starting your own band sounds like a good one.
