I’ve never had notes becoming ill defined on a shorty just from going up a gauge.

For Sale/Trade: Sadowsky Metroexpress Modern 24 5 String Bass
Josh posted a topic in Basses For Sale
Hey Guys, I’m not 100% sure that I want to move this on, but I’m finding myself using my other bass a bit more often lately and this is sat being unplayed. I’ve owned this from new when they became available on Thomann earlier this year. It had a couple of high frets which were quickly professionally seen to by Mark at Wilts Guitar Repair. Other than that, the bass is in great condition and currently strung up with a fresh set of DR High Beams. All specs and info can be found here: https://www.thomann.co.uk/sadowsky_metroexpress_24_5_modern_ma_ss.htm Some videos of it in action: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DH60nsVOcnq/?igsh=MXUzc2Q2Z3Zpdnp2eg== https://www.instagram.com/reel/DF3uTZ3NBr0/?igsh=MWJvd2FmM2VkdDc3ZQ== This bass comes with Sadowsky strap locks and a padded deluxe Sadowsky gig bag which is in great condition as well. I’d be interested in a possible trade for either: Spector Euro 5 String Musicman/Sterling Stingray 2EQ 4 String Lakland 55-60 5 String Warwick Streamer 5 String I have a Squier Classic Vibe 60’s jazz bass (Older model) that I could include as well for the right deal also. I have a box and can post at the buyers expense, otherwise this is can be collected from Bridgwater, Somerset. Thanks, Josh. -
Also worth noting that GHS Boomers are on the stiffer side (although I am not sure what gauges they do for short scale), generally with short scale it is very much trial and error to find the best set

Bygone music/bass shops you were fond of?
SuperSeagull replied to kiat's topic in General Discussion
A few from me, as already mentioned The Bass Centre where I got my Ashdown gear in 1999 ably advised by Steve Lawson and a few years later watching Steve and Michael Manring perform in the shop. Tiger Music in Sydney Street in Brighton, a real old fashioned guitar shop with great staff. I bought a Fender P Lyte there in 1991 and they wouldn’t take my 1980s Ibanez Roadster in p/x as nobody wanted them back then. Also a Peavey TKO combo that is still going strong at a local church. And then there is Largs of High Holborn, I only ever went as a small child in the 1960’s but it was where my parents met in the 1950s. Mum worked upstairs in the musical instrument dept, Dad was downstairs where they built hi fi systems which you chose from a a range of different components before they were built into cabinets to match your decor. A bygone age! -

You have a lot of good input and mine will mirror most. Ignore the “Ibanez is only for rock” I play a Ric 4003 for church and have played a Thunderbird when I wanted to, never let anyone tell what your bass can play. My first bass was a used Fender P and it is still in my collection. Try several out, and, my advice, buy the one that you don’t want to put down. Fender Play is a great tool, so is SBL (start with their free stuff and their YouTube content, deep rabbit hole you’ll never regret. Do looks matter? Yes, because the way it looks, the more you are drawn to it, the more you’ll play. Enjoy the journey!

That looks proper fancy innit. Please tell me it’s an awful baseball bat of a neck to try ‘n’ play … -

If you do go for the K&M - I recommend buying it from London Guitar Studio - https://www.londonguitarstudio.com/p/k-m-memphis-pro-deluxe-guitar-stand - £40 and I think delivery is only £2.50. You can get it from Thomann/Bax for £35, but unless you're buying other stuff to trigger their free postage, their postage will make it same/more expensive. Buying in the UK you'll get it quicker too. The reason I want to shout out London Guitar Studio is that they were super helpful when I broke one of my K&M stands (mostly through my own bravado/stupidity), turned around the return/replacement with no fuss or hassle.

Hello! Couldn't resist this one. Never seen another in the UK. Any others out there? A pretty unique spec - ovals, matching headstock, blocks & binding. Board is a lovely bit of rosewood, body is basswood. Pickguard was switched to black at some point, but I've got a correct replacement on there now. It plays and sounds great 🙂

For sale, a full flight case, fitted for a Gibson Ripper or Grabber in good condition. I've sold pretty much all my long-scale basses so I'm advertising quite a few bags and cases. The case was a custom build by Bird Brothers in the North of England in the early '80s - at the time, the company was one of the UK's leading suppliers of high-quality bespoke flight cases. The foam was replaced more recently by BSH cases in Manchester - an excellent job in very high density foam. The case has some marks from use, but is structurally entirely sound and the interior is pretty much perfect. Collection in East Manchester. It may be possible to ship at the buyer's risk and cost, though I'd need to find a box which might take some time. It's also worth noting that the case is fairly heavy (it's a full, touring-spec aluminium clad flight case!) - I'd estimate around 11-12kg. No trades or offers thanks and any questions, please just ask.

Can't you just call your authorities by phone and ask for help? In Germany, it wouldn't be a biggie for them.

I would never have thought to have done that but fair play. Just as well the vast majority of basses I would actually buy have clip out compartments which I would prefer anyway. No chance of losing a battery door that way. -
Any thanks to everyone who has replied to this. A few months back I couldn't find an Ultimate stand but now I can. But you have given me food for thought with the alternatives. What a great place this is.

First bass was a Peavey millennium bxp 5 string, totally inappropriate for a learner but I have fond rose tinted memories. Through my Laney RB9 with a fan that sounded like a Chinook taking off. Go to bass is a Chinese bitsa that has been repainted in every colour, currently sporting beige floral nursing home wallpaper. It weighs absolutely nothing and sounds superb with emg jx pickups "Your bass" probably same as above or it's pink Hawaiian painted sibling

For sale, a Mono Vertigo bass bag in excellent, almost new condition. The bag has been used only to store a bass. I've sold pretty much all my long-scale basses so no longer have need for the Vertigo (I'm advertising quite a few bags and cases). Collection in East Manchester, though it may be possible to ship (without a box - I don't have one) - at the buyer's risk and cost. These are very impressive bags and seem to retail between around £220 to £250 in the UK. No trades or offers thanks and any questions, please just ask. -
This is a total ball ache, I need to complete this form now. I'm probably going to pull out of the deal, I don't feel confident with the paperwork.
