  1. Past hour
  2. Ouch. To be fair, the ‘ray is better looking…
  3. Sorry, I’m afraid I don’t understand. Not totally clear what you mean.
  4. You are teetering on the brink of owning a Spector... I've got 3 Jap BBs but nothing does the PJ magic like a Spector.
  5. No social media at all here. Deleted my FB account over a decade ago. Never had an X/Twitter/Instagram account. Though I suppose BassChat is a form of social media... So I'm guilty of that.
  6. It seems a lot of trouble to go to to make every single front different though.
  7. Definitely US. This came from a parts bass made by a Sadowsky employee. No real markings on it to identify as such. The pickups were scrubbed out and headstock left blank for fear of repercussions. I still have the neck - Brazillian rosewood fingerboard, Graphtech nut, Schaller tuners.
  8. Are you 100% sure about that? Edited versions cannot be trusted. I’ll have to look up the Anna Magdelena Bach manuscript again. My understanding is that it was for 4-strings with the first string down a tone, and that the 6th suite was for five strings. But I’m no Bach expert.
  9. Soul limbo - booker t and the mgs
  10. I found some purchase paperwork and everything was bought in January 2002, which might narrow it down. There was also a carbon copy of a TE customer survey and in "suggestions for improvements" the buyer has written "switch for light fascia light" so it seems likely it's not working because it is disconnected. I'll take it to my electronics expert friend for a look-see inside.
  11. My BB734A was my first "proper" bass and I love it, played my first real gigs on it, my first recording was done with it too and the combination of the split and single coil pickups together just sounds magic, no other bass seems to really manage it. I originally wanted a Fender Aerodyne but after trying one at Wunjos the guy just happened to bring me the Yamaha as a "cheaper" alternative. I remember the feeling I got immediately when I plucked a note, it just sounded like the thing absolutely sang to me. Even to this day no other bass has given me the same feeling of that growl and punch. Made an account here and eventually was offered to buy one in lovely condition from a Scottish BCer whose username now eludes me - this was almost 7 years ago! Not sure if it's the pickups, electronics, or the body and neck woods/construction (5-piece maple/mahogany neck eh?!). But it's an absolute delight and so comfortable to play (unlike my pointy Jackson which looks the business but is about as comfortable as a Moroccan prison). Used to love perusing the Yamaha BB thread although it's dormant nowadays. I've only ever played modern Yamaha models - which are the best older models? Looks like the BB3000 is a popular choice
  12. These things are great GLWTS

  14. I managed after a long time of being skint to get my old Suhr Jazz bass back. There is a BC member that offered to buy this bass for me and he offered that I could pay him back which was such a lovely EPIC gesture!! It really was and it blew me away tbh. But the time wasn't right. His BC name is three and his name is Loz bless him. I don't want to bore anyone as I'm aware everyone is struggling but it's been brutal financially and we struggled to get to the next mortgage/council tax payment for a long long time. But we're now mortgage free so me got some basses a comin.!!. Debora doesn't know this yet.. 😆 Suhr Custom Classic J4 Swamp ash body. Maple neck. Suhr 2 band pre. Aguilar single coils.

  15. already had enough corona after the last 6 years, and i'm not talking about the beer though I do love a good PINT
  16. Thanks Rob! Much appreciated. I’ve been to lots of IQ gigs, but I’ve never yet been asked to dep for Tim, but I will now be prepared (apart from me not having a Stingray 5 🤣 )
  17. Suite 5 was originally for a 5-string Cello. It appears in the Urtext and Peter's Editions. (And I think in the Paul Tortellier edited version too.)
  18. I actually prefer a direct sale, but it always depends. Maybe you can send me your ideas via pm.
  19. Very classy indeed. I'm a huge fan of limited edition Euros and these are absolutely gorgeous. The capability of NBE in producing such stunning basses is very impressive. I'll have two with me tomorrow. Another incoming. Well played, @cetera @Paulhauser, lovely stuff.
  20. More Neo-Prog - from the 2014 IQ album of the same name, the Tim Esau bass part for 'The Road Of Bones'. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/the-road-of-bones-iq/
  21. Make the grade as a campfire starter ? 🤷‍♂️
  22. Vivaldi only needed 4 strings. And indeed, only 4 Seasons
  23. I’ve still got my first acoustic guitar - a Hohner Leyanda series thing I bought from Argos in 1988. I played it to destruction - the frets are wrecked, part of the fretboard fell off and after a few months stored without strings the neck has gone off piste and buzzes everywhere. But I can’t possibly throw it away, it’s worth nothing to sell, not worth repairing and currently doesn’t even make the grade as a campfire jam instrument.
