Nice. I'm currently transcribing some Haslip bass lines too. Allan Holdsworth and Yellowjackets

What made you decide to go with a pick rather than fingerstyle. Just curious as i've struggled with that issue over 40 yrs but always remained fingers. Usually guitarists that wanted me to use a pick because that's what they do 😂 Looks like it was a good gig and nice looking J bass too. Dave

Great that it felt right and not awkward. Good to hear your feedback on it as i remember it wasn't an easy decision for you to walk away. That's a nice happy Sunday morning story to cheer us all up. Dave

Not actually my gig, and nor was I playing So I had a lovely evening going to see and support my mate who I've been playing with in a trio for over thirty years. Paul is an amazing guitarist, but plays bass for the 'Beat Club', and was playing one of my Jazz basses. So I had a highly pleasant evening of being an 'Audient', sitting and listening and drinking my blackcurrant and soda water. C2B0436F-F3D3-42F8-BA6B-500CF3A614FA.MP4

I have owned one of these in the past. Don't be put off by the shape - I found mine surprisingly ergonomic - it balances well and the top edge of the body formed what I can only describe as a "shelf" for my forearm to rest on. Really quite pleasant playing experience, and sounded good too. I felt enriched and enlightened by the experience of owning and playing one. And yes, you feel like a bloomin' rock god when you're playing it - you will throw shapes and pull faces. GLWTS!

I haven’t posted in this thread in a while! Played a local bar on Saturday night. First time for the American Jazz and first time trying to play the set live with a pick! loads of compliments afterwards. Burned 600 cals according to my watch haha! Managed to keep ahold of the pick until the last song, have a gnarly bruise on my middle finger now. only issue was that my ACS in-ears are away getting repaired again so was using KZs from Amazon. Didn’t hear things quite as well as I’d liked! Got some pics and a video, it was live streamed but we haven’t got that yet. cfc5ed86-8502-438b-a48b-12c3ef413f55.mov

Having a bit of a streamline of my pedalboard and looking to let these beauties find a new home. Sansamp Programmable Bass Driver DI You know the deal, industry standard preamp/DI functionality - this one has 3 switchable channels allowing you to vary your tone/drive as required. A great pedal that's been a key part of my board but no longer required due to my GK 700RB amp. Excellent condition comes with the box. Looking for £160 posted MXR M85 Bass Distortion A flexible bass distortion based on the famous RAT circuit this one has both the original RAT and Turbo RAT circuits switchable via a push button. Sounds great and in excellent condition apart from a few small chips in the paint. Looking for £90 posted Seymour Duncan Studio Bass Compressor Really versatile workhorse compressor that gets great reviews on sites like Ovnilabs - https://www.ovnilab.com/reviews/vicegrip.shtml. A few battle scars to the paintwork but apart from that it's in great nick. Looking for £110 posted EHX Bass Clone Chorus Bought this last year looking for a Peter Hook kind of sound as it's a modern version of the original EHX Clone Theory. Hardly ever used, comes with the box. Looking for £45 posted Behringer BDI21 Bass Driver DI Cheap clone of the famous Sansamp Bass Driver DI, does a fantastic job considering the price differences. Looking for £15 posted

It didn’t feel like I’d been away at all Dave, even when playing material written after I’d left. I was with them 2013-19 but had kept in some form of touch with them. Overall was really good, and great to hear some good-hearted “send him back he’s rubbish” from some of the old crowd.

My new band's second gig this Friday (6th June). 9pm - midnight three setter at The Garden (formerly Font Bar), Chorlton, South Manchester. Really looking forward to it after a year or so of spinning the band up, rehearsals and trying to get our foot in the door at venues. Playing live is where it's at for me.

Fender geeks might be able to help with one thing I've never figured out. The headstock rear has a 5mm (approx) wood dowel/plug between the E A tuners; this is entirely from the factory but I've never understood why/what. I did wonder whether they tried fitting drop tuners to the very first production basses but they maybe didn't fit. I know the 2nd series had a larger headstock which DID have an E string drop tuner fitted.

Same goes for your MM fretless. That would be good to hear as well if its possible @ezbass. Dave
