  2. I hope that my main technical challenge/goal as a bassist is to make the band sound better, which can mean playing less, playing quieter, and playing simpler, the reward is the way the band and audience respond. As a BL once said to me, we don鈥檛 really notice what you鈥檙e playing but we do notice when you stop.
  3. It's born for funk and rock music! Thanks to the ramp and 35 scale it manages to maintain a relatively low action and can be played also with a... "physical finge style"!

  5. Hey Mark, Rob always said that the 18V pre had more headroom.
  6. Yep! Well, mine deserves a bath (riden just a few hours ago, and already found may cats on the seats). 2300cc is the engine size yes. Monster power bike - Monster power bass!
  7. Mark King at Fairfield Hall last night. Mark bass all the way. Little Mark Vintage 1000 head, Standard 104HR cabs, and a small unobtrusive pedal board 馃槣
  8. I now have said 12 string and this is now 拢400.
  9. Indeed it is the same, I messaged the previous owner to confirm.
  10. It allows the reader to savour the content. Like a good wine, posts should have room to breathe. The edited by line is in bold type and draws the eye away from the content by being too close. Heeheehee. It's a minor annoyance. It's easy enough to add extra space at the time of posting.
  11. Bob bought a mixer off me, super quick payment, excellent communication - definitely recommend, deal with confidence. Thanks Bob!

  13. I felt I had to share this as it surprised me: I have a sire P5 with TI flats and just bought a fender American pro 2 precision bass which I put TI round wounds on. Both are 4 string. I was struggling with the sound on the fender + rounds a bit weak and just not there. I read how people don鈥檛 like the V2 pups on this bass and was considering returning it. But then I swapped the strings and put the TI flats on the fender. Immediately I was blown away there was that classic p bass growl the difference was amazing. It seems these pups are more suited to this tone. Conversely I put the TI round wounds on the sire P5 and they sounded great with the more modern tone. It seems the P5 pups work well with both strings. But the fender pups prefer the flat TIs. I wish you could get the TI flats as low tension as the rounds as I prefer the ease of playing on the rounds.
  14. I have both and feel exactly the same. Both good OD's, with the Mojo mojo to be on the more warm/vintage side, and the Spark to be more a pedal that gives more drive but doesn't really change the fundamental tone.

  16. Well indeed, apart from the TRC I can't see what you're looking for here. But I'll throw some fuel on the T-40 parts fire... When I fitted a T-40 pickup to my DeArmond Jet Star, the pickup ring was a bit warped and sad, so I got one 3D printed using this model - fits great! If they're not bothered about originality of parts, this could get someone out of jail - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3587735
  17. Sorry, missed your post. Thanks for the info.

  19. I normally would agree with most of what Phil says! But the "weight" of the bass IMO comes particularly from the 120Hz to 150Hz region so I would, if anything, boost that by +3db or so. I think if you are agressively cutting bass below 160Hz that feels too high a cut off, and you'll risk ending up with quite a thin sound. I'd personally recommend cutting from 80Hz to 100Hz to get rid of low end crud, and leave your mids flat rather than cutting them; and as you've already shared mid scoop can sound sweet solo'd but it's where you're losing yourself in the mix.
  20. My mid 90s FL Ray put an end to my ignorant snobbery of PF - it's got more Mwah than a couple of posh birds air kissing.
  21. Ultimate fuzz for bass IMO is the Blackarts toneworks Pharaoh. Massive range of tones and maintains tight low end.
  22. Hi folks Another lovely bass sadly having to go. This is a great active modern J bass with some stand-out features. The bass has a zero fret (like Sandbergs), a bone nut, 24-fert neck with deep cut away in body for easy access and a very nice "heelless" joint for even better access, a tilted back headstock and noiseless pickups. The bass is in excellent condition and comes with the original high-quality Cort gig bag. I have also added some soft-touch control knobs with tell tales as the original fit items are fine but you can't tell at a glance where the settings are. The controls are: Volume (pull for preamp bypass) Blend Treble Mids (pull for mid frequency shift) Bass The full spec is here: Specifications 路 Code: NJS-4 WHT 路 Body: Alder 路 Construction: Bolt-On 路 Neck: Hard Maple 3pcs 路 Fretboard: Hard Maple 路 Radius: 12" (305mm) 路 Frets: 24 w/ Zero Fret 路 Scale: 34" (864mm) 路 Inlay: White Pearloid Block 路 Tuners: Hipshot Ultralite 路 Bridge: MetalCraft M4 路 Pickups: Cort Voiced Tone VTB-ST 路 Electronics: Bartolini庐 Elrick NJS Special Preamp 路 Hardware: Chrome 路 Strings: D'Addario EXL165 路 Special: Bone Nut Pickups The new Voiced Tone VTB-ST single-coil pickups perfectly complement the big robust sound of the bass with modern clarity, transparency and vintage warmth while eliminating noise with its hum-cancelling design. Collection or meet up preferred, but may be able to post if I can find a box. Here are some pics. The second pic looks a bit blue in tone, not sure why. I think the rest look to be a good representation:
