  2. Tony bought some strings from me and was an absolute pleasure throughout. Instant payment, great communications and he kindly took the time to let me know they arrived safely and that all was good!
  3. As it's a fiver, and as I mentioned, it's named XB 500. That said, it's a quite common bass and without a serial number or a distinctive sign, it will be very hard to prove ownership... ☹️
  4. I have the very same head and I'm a big fan of it. I keep toying with the idea of moving it on but every time I gig with it, I'm super happy. Its punchy and the tone shaping is versatile but even running it flat sounds great. I've also tried the MarkBass Little Mark Tube 800 and that sounded really nice as well.
  5. Anderton’s also have them back in stock in time for Christmas!
  6. Possibly Walnut? Paul Boyer's book mentions that Walnut was available in matt and gloss finishes up to 1985.
  7. Yes it is a Washburn XB 500.
  8. I had exactly the same experience with two sets if Pyramid Golds, very frustrating
  9. It really is a great pedal
  10. I reckon so. A quick search suggests that it is a Washburn Bantam XB-400.
  11. Broken Wings - Mr Mister
  12. Very dull and thuddy; no resonance to it. It would fit an old school set fine, but the other 3 strings had more life and presence than an old school set. So one could hear the change in timbre as one crossed strings to and from it, which was very off putting.
  13. Agree that it doesn't look like a FireGlo, my guess would be an AutumnGlo as suggested, but that is a guess. Looks like an early/mid-80's 4003 with the split scratch plate, but it looks like it's in fantastic condition. Enjoy!
  14. Hi , can I ask in way was your E string different from the others
  15. Is it a Washburn?
  16. Today
  17. Curiosity got the better of me and I bought a set of the extra lights. The G, D and A strings were fine, in fact rather nice, but the E string was like it was from a completely different set of strings, which made the set unplayable. I complained, genuinely believing that the E string had not been made right, it simply couldn't have been intentional. I was sent another set. Same problem. Maybe played in a certain way, and EQ'd in a particular way, they would be ok, but to me that is not how a set of strings should be - there should be cross string consistency full stop. I have put my TI Flats back on.
  18. Just bought some strings from David ,it was an absolute pleasure to deal with him, great communication and quick delivery, top man, thank you very much, Tony
  19. Yes, as Wateroftyne says, this is a correct bridge for the Precision Special. These also did not come with gold ashtray covers. I had an '82 P Special in white which yellowed like the one on pg 1. My uncle was the original purchaser. When he retired and gave it to me, I bought gold covers direct from the Fender accessory catalog.
  20. Oops, edited now. Thanks for letting me know.
  21. The bass weighs 3.9kgs or just over 8 and a half pounds - without the covers fitted.
  22. I was lucky and got one of the rare Bass Synths for sale here in NL. It's still in the post so I'll probably receive it by Tuesday. Can't wait!
  23. Recently I bought the Eich T1000 (Pride) amp; check the pics below). When I try to connect the two cabs (112 XS -8) to it (using the genuine Eich cables), the connection is very poor; sometimes there is no sound at all, and when I twist/move the plug (when it is still in het chassis) the sound comes -crackling though- through. There is also more "play" between the plug and the left socket compared to the other (right) socket on the cabs. The problem is less persistent using the other (right) socket. Therefor it seems to me that the (left) Speakon socket (all Neutrik) is worn out or something. What do you think I should do here? Thanks in advance for your reply!
  24. One of the best P money can buy today. And Alane is great guy to deal with.
