Yeah, I like that aesthetic - either low-key and show off the wood or go full on Glam!

The future of amps & cabs - stage props only?

I don't see an irony, if they are doing what you want thats fine, it is your choice. -

Anyone bought a cheap (Chinese) neck off eBay?
HowieD72 replied to NancyJohnson's topic in Bass Guitars
My Chinese Ebay roasted maple neck on my parts bass. Gave it several light coats of Rustins Danish Oil & she's sweet as! -
I find the irony of this situation is that I’m arguing against a sound man telling bassists to do this yet it’s actually now my preferred way of gigging.

Pubs and venues to be protected from noise complaints
knirirr replied to Cliff Edge's topic in General Discussion
Some developers near where I live have had a planning application to build houses accepted where the directly adjacent neighbour is the shooting club. Next to the chaps firing rifles (and not just .22) there are the Rugby and football clubs. I suspect there will be a few noise complaints once those houses are built. Before moving I took a few late walks through the area and asked locals; the conclusion was that it was a quiet area. What I didn't discover was the plans to build a hotel nearby, with my street being on the quickest route back for hotel guests who've been trying the local pubs. New windows have dealt with most of the nuisance from that. -

Fairly well-known that John Entwistle suffered for decades at the hands (and ears?) of live 'soundmen', producers and engineers. Many ripped the top and middle out of what he was trying to do back in the day. Fully get your response @Wolverinebass.

Suggestions for an inexpensive P Bass with a Jazz neck
P-T-P replied to Minininjarob's topic in Bass Guitars
If SH is an option, Charvel San Dimas Pro Mod basses have a lovely "jazz bass on ozempic" neck. Some people experienced some noise from the electronics and made a lot of noise about it. I've had a couple, one-early, one later and neither had any noise issues. As a second-hand buy, I think they are excellent value. -
Prior to purchasing (can't wait!) the Cort Space 4 Thomann music shop have today written to me to confirm the following: You can use any standard roundwound strings on this bass, and the clamp on the headstock allows you to use standard bass strings. With flatwound strings, the winding can break due to the pressure of the grub screw (which secures the string to the headstock). Therefore, we cannot recommend these clamp screws. This is due to the design of flatwound strings. That's disappointing news but if anyone on here has been successful with using flats on this bass I'd love to know.

Pubs and venues to be protected from noise complaints
Lozz196 replied to Cliff Edge's topic in General Discussion
A venue I`ve played a few times had a nearby building bought by people of a religious faith. Who then complained about noise whilst they were praying, and wanted the venue closed down. The venue itself wasn`t/isn`t in a residential area, so noise levels hadn`t been affecting anyone until the purchase above. As per a few other posts, do your research when buying, and don`t buy then expect an existing business to change/be closed down. -
