Buddster started following It's "for charity"

We've done a few gig for charity, which generally we don't mind too much. We've also been asked to run the PA for multiband lineups. This we don't do for free. We do charge, but at a reduced rate. Pub.. We're running a charity event, do you mind playing for free. It's good exposure. Band.. Sure. We're planning an event of our own. Can you supply free beer? You can advertise your pub.

A faithful replica of the Gibson lo-z bass humbucker

I used one of these inline things when I was testing/repairing my Epiphone Jack Casady - I had to take the stock transformer out of the equation to prove that it was faulty. -
No worries, I just set it up as if it was a Fender and dialled in my usual settings (10 thou relief and 2.4mm string height at the 12th fret) and with the tapewounds (very used set of long scale D'Addarios) it has tamed the clank nicely and I am digging it a lot. It's more even across the strings than my mustangs and I haven't touched the pickup at all. The E and G string saddles are nearly on the deck though. It arrived with well over 3mm string height which made me more clanky especially with the 19mm spacing at the bridge to have to get used to like I was playing long scale again. Might take a bit to dial in with my usual pedals and settings as the output from it is so strong, so might not need the usual boost from the RC Booster that I use with passive basses, it's weird finally turning the input gain on the Double4 down to around half, instead of the usual full setting I use whilst wishing there was more input gain (hence the RCBooster). Not having the volume always on full is cool, more sonic variation available, and the tone control is much more subtle (with less extremes) than usual Fender set up, I haven't had a look under the hood so not sure how they get the OMG sound and what value cap(s?) and pots are in play. If anyone has an unwanted black or white pickguard for it I'd be interested, though the tort isn't unbearable, as it's fairly dark and not too red.

Fundraising. I love that people are inspired by something and want to raise cash, but in a lot of cases, the amount of money raised is simply that which would have been taken by the bands. That’s ok if the band gets the plaudits but it’s usually the organiser on local radio or with their picture in the paper. I don’t do free gigs but I do give some of my spare time to charity (always have), so my conscience is clear.

Just got this last month to power my Anagram and 2 pedals for a compact board I built. Needing to recoup some funds as I just purchased a ticket going to the Philippines. And I’m committing to stick with just my Anagram with my current projects and gigs. Got it from Andertons for £225 brand new. Includes a longer right angle IEC cable. Free postage!

Thanks, yes, Malawi and some parrot fish

Take the pickup selector switch out of the equation, then ditch the completely stupid 'phase' switch. You have 4 wires. White is hot, black/blue+ bare are grounds. Red goes to the Tone Pot.

It is. I have to admit it's been a bit of a learning curve, but I'm getting there now!

Some more Swingdoom; the tune is 'Swingdown, Swingtown' from the 1993 Wynton Marsalis Septet album, 'Citi Movement (Griot New Your)'. Recommended. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/swingdown-swingtown-wynton-marsalis-septet/

Here are two fairly rare, well read and thoroughly fascinating Hendrix books. The Anthology book is part of the mid-90s they did for Hendrix. The other is a Mitch Mitchell authored insight into life with Hendrix. both have been read, used and stored so not new. I’d say they were Good condition in the antiquarian book scale. £15 delivered for both? Can also add a free Beatles Lyrics hardback book too if you want?

I fancy being able to slow down a loop so that it sounds like someone has just turned the power off. Is there a pedal which will do this but without me dropping £300+ for a one off end of song thing? LIke this, but not as spendy

Just seen this thread. Looks like huge fun.

Thanks. Have another biscuit ! These are stunning basses in appearance, even better than my photos and the pickups / preamp don’t disappoint either. I couldn’t find any other preowned one’s for sale in the UK currently so this is a great chance for somebody to enjoy a magnificent bass. Cheers. Quent
