Yeah, Paul told me the previous owner to him had used the things as a bit of a test bed for stuff. So, not sure what pickup is in there or what the preamp is but I have NEVER had anything that puts out that much signal before. I'm worried it'll give me a shock if I touch it! -

Is it? Really? At that price? I'll have to look closer. Really quilted maple? Really? The neck is fine - reminds me a bit of my MusicMan stingray. Not something I'd pick out of choice but with my playing it doesn't really matter what size neck I have - nothing's gonna make me any better! -
I think we are getting away from my point. Artist Universal Income has been introduced to subsidise artists because attendance has dropped off due to the effects of the pandemic. A lot of my friends play in London. A lot of people would stay around affer work for a meal, a beer and a gig. Now, if you're working from home, its a trip to London after work into London. Only very keen people are going to do that. That's not limited to London, that is going on all over the country.

Yes, there are a few ways to use the external footswitch, or expression pedal, but one of them is scrolling the presets. Using the footswitch on the pedal is fine for scrolling through presets as long as you don't need to change during a song. If you want to do that the easiest way is to use an expression pedal, you can save a setting for the up and down position of the pedal, so going between them is easy - it actually blends between them, which can be cool if you want that, but if not just being quick with the pedal works fine.

The problem with this approach is it’s too broad brush. Plenty of jobs have to be done on site. Office jobs can benefit from some on site presence. HR, IT support, any creative industry. Flexible working makes more sense though. Not everyone needs to be in every day. Many people are realising that if they want career progression then full time work from home is a dead end so are going into work. I guess the city centre has lost out on footfall, but most people I have worked with who don’t bring their own lunch tend to get a meal deal from a Supermarket anyway. The higher earners in city centres might eat out more often, I don’t know. I tried that lifestyle and it wasn’t for me. I don’t know anyone who has been able to WFH who has given up on their social life. People are generally finding that their money buys them less so have cut back in going out though.

Got any pics? What sort of plastic is it, coz the ones I've had are very soft and scratch dead easy...

I should clarify - I had to mount it in the enclosure to get all the pins lined up before soldering, since the pots are PCB-mounted. If you solder first then try to mount it, you risk stressing the board. So you put the pots and board in place before soldering the pot connections.

So, I outed three basses recently. Now I've got the itch for a new one, but I really need it honestly!!! 😁 Context: my main band is a four piece doing mostly 2000s covers. I also have an 80s band starting up and I fancy having a very 80s bass for it. Being left handed my options are limited, so here's some ideas: I've got a nice Mexican P bass. It currently looks 70's, black body and guard, maple neck, cream pup covers. I could "dress this up" more like an 80s style bass: white guard, white pup covers, white plastic knobs and maybe gold hardware at a stretch. Buy another bass... Now, funds are limited, so no brand new Status unfortunately. I've mailed someone who was selling an Aria SB a long time ago to see if it's still available. I could easily get a Steinberger Spirit cricket bat but I'm not a big fan. I will keep an eye out for Westone's, Washburn Status, etc... if funds allowed and I got impatient I could go to the bass hunter chap in Japan, good chance of a lefty Aria SB out there I reckon? Then there's the others that aren't so distinctly 80s but could be worth a punt just because... I'm drawn to Warwicks now and there's a few Thumb basses available in London. I've also come across a heavily modified Fender P bass from the late 70s that needs a hell of a lot of work but that could become a very versatile fretless vintage bass. What would you do?

A few years ago, I played an Elf at the SE bass Bash. I literally laughed at it. We tried it through different cabs and my conclusion was that unless you were using an 8x10 (which negates using such a small amp!), or were playing a coffee shop gig it was so underpowered as to be ridiculous. I was red lining the thing the whole way and it was barely getting anything that resembled decent volume. -
Can you use an external footswitch to switch presets and make preset changing on stage a realistic prospect?

Normal - what most people do. At one time everyone bought lunch in the works canteen and sat around talking instead of sitting working at their desk eating a sandwich. (Which is also now normal behaviour) Not everyone has to buy lunch every day. It's a numbers game. But if everyone is working from home, no one is buying lunch and all the money is going to the big Supermarkets. Fine, if you all want to sit at home, not spending money and isolated from social interaction, do that. But don't complain that people aren't comming to your gigs, because sitting at home on your own is habbit forming.

I have a second hand Nespresso machine in my office. Classic, so I can buy pods at Lidl or whatever's on a deal - Nestlé isn't getting a penny out of me, lol. I even learned to like black coffee, saving even more money. I do buy my lunch at lunchtime most days though, because I'm a lazy so-and-so.

That video reminds me of the insane video where Gibson drove a massive JCB over all their surplus guitars with all the pickups and hardware still installed. Still, that bloke who picked all of that G&L stuff out of the skip can now set himself up on ebay he's got so much gear.
