  2. There are all sorts of tribute bands ranging from those that are the closest you'll ever get to the "real thing" without actually going to see the "real thing", and at the other end covers bands who just play songs by a single artist. To the OP. IMO you need to be a lot more specific about the sort of tribute band you'd like to be in and why. As others have said lots of tribute bands are formed by musicians who are massive fans of the act they are a tribute to, and someone who doesn't appear to be as enthusiastic about the music may not be the sort of musician they are looking for to complete the line-up. At the moment to being "open-minded, just nothing too heavy" tends to make you come across as being somewhat unfocused musically. With the right connections you might get a one-off dep when the band are desperate, but you'll need to be a lot more specific if you want a permanent band place. Also if you want to get into a band who are more than just covers band who only do one artist, you will probably be expected to look the part, at least as far as having the right clothes, haircut, makeup (if applicable) and instrument. Are you prepared to do that?
  3. Thanks Phil! "A pair of 12's is going to give you plenty of output but so is a 15 of the same quality." is a very helpful summary So the key question for me then is: is a single 15"speaker going to be significantly better than a single 12" speaker for a sub? The 2 x 8" FBT sub is not one I had considered, though and one to look into!
  4. Hello, If you have to de-solder any of these (radial) capacitors I would whole heartedly recommend you to get a de-soldering pump.. Nothing worse then doing such a job without one - heating up the solder & wiggling the capacitor left - right to get it out & hoping that the copper track on PCB doesn’t get wrecked.. If these were axial (legs on each end) then it wouldn’t be so much of a hassle as you could simply pull the leg out one at the time.. Bridge rectifier - if you have a look at the diagram and try to understand the path of AC through these diodes then it makes sense where this sort of ,,100 HZ,, comes from - almost 30 years since college, those were wonderful times, loved this stuff…
  5. Ordered a PJB C8 cab from Bass Direct. Made the epic error of ordering it on 26/12, but post-xmas blues being what they are, well, you know how it works. BD were closed until today (29th Dec), so they were never going to send it until today. I've received an Email with tracking reference. Royal Mail system can't confirm or deny its existence, much less offer a delivery time frame. I guess it's my fault for not paying extra for next-day delivery... Oh no! Wait! I DID. So I've paid for a service that they literally can't deliver. Next time, I'll bite the bullet and do a 400 mile round-trip and collect it myself.
  6. The 4 On The Floor low gain drive unit is very versatile and has a HPF and LPF which makes it very adaptive to feed into other pedals. It has switchable hi and lo gain too and can really enhance a signal chain.
  7. Bought February 2025 for a project that never materialised like new except for very tiny mark on back of headstock changed the strings to Ernie Ball Cobalts original strings available located in Hebden Bridge , West Yorkshire
  8. I got a really nice tangle free cable from aliexpress which is all braided, unhelpfully I dont' remember the name but it has been excelent, and saved a good minute at each gig!
  9. Any thoughts re a replacement cable for the ear pieces? (I am coming to the conclusion that there are as many opinions as there are products RE the transmitter/receiver!)
  10. I have a USA L2500, but I believe the Tribute is very similar. If you can find one I would go with it - it's the best bass there is in my opinion. So sad that G&L went out of business.
  11. I've played in a Prince tribute for about 19 years. I originally got into it through a join my band style website. The guitarist is a mega prince fan and put the band together. For the first 10 years we gigged pretty infrequently, and when we did gig it was mostly smallish pubs. For the last 9 it's taken off somewhat, with us doing small O2 academies, theatres and other independent venues. Gigs are booked for us by an agent who takes a cut (no one in the band wants the hassle of booking the gigs). We still don't gig loads - everyone in the band has day jobs and other musical projects, so it's very much a weekend warrior kind of thing. Advice for finding something I think is just networking - join Facebook groups, if there's a particular tribute you'd like to join follow them on social media, send a message offering your services as a dep. You never know what may come of it.
  12. Ah, ok. I’ve not used other IEMs so can’t compare but I find the NUX fine for my needs. I have the whole band in them (at various levels - I don’t usually need a lot of drums as I’m mostly standing right next to them!) and not noticed quality or distortion as an issue.
  13. Really enjoyed that 👍
  14. Setup for 80s covers band gigs in pubs to big halls (400). 2 recent gigs with it and it performed as well as expected (better than me 😂). My first big board and I'm pleased that the effort to route into a patchbay at the back helps operationally (19" audio rack panel with d-series cutouts, am waiting on the TRS module, hence the temp solution). Only two effects pedals! 😆. The rest is wireless bass receiver and IEM transmitter, battery, headphone amp and tuner. It can be totally wireless without the XLR FOH feeds (bass out, band IEM in) when I use a pair of low latency 5.8GHz instrument dongles to reach my amp. The pedal switcher has triggers that I use to control the presets on the MB301.
  15. By music I meant the rest of the band, although I did try it with recorded music as well. Its not a gain issue, its just something that seems to be there at the end of the note etc. I couldn't get rid of it no matter how I adjusted things. I must admit I went looking for it as a lot of users have reported this, and the unit I had was a return on Amazon so could have bene faulty. On The Nux website they do mention that sound quality isnt top notch, but they focused on usability or something like that.
  16. I just got one of these Fifteens and am wondering what pedal others use in front of it for when you want to switch from your "core" Fifteen tone to a more overdriven rocky sound? I have experimented with my EHX Bass Soul Food pedal and it sounds really thin and trebly (even with the treble knob on the BSF backed off fully). Not a nice sound at all. I need something with more body/beef/heft/[insert other bassy sounding phrase], so any suggestions welcome. Thanks!
  17. That’s not the set I have. I have the one with the rechargeable case. I didn’t want ‘another thing to plug in’. https://www.andertons.co.uk/nux-b-7psm-personal-monitoring-system-58ghz/
  18. I haven’t listened to music through them - apart from when they arrived I think I connected them to see if they ‘worked’. I don’t recall any. If I find the gig is getting loud and I turn them up i sometimes get a bit if I’m digging in. But it’s not something I’ve ’noticed’ (until you said) or that has bothered me.
  19. The BH250 was the first class-d head I owned and it's scary to think these have been around for over a decade now. Great little amps and featured packed for not much cost. Surprisingly loud as well for such a compact unit. Also make a great desktop recording interface and home practice amp with the headphone out. I've just bought another small class-d head or I would have jumped at such a bargain. Jezz is a top dude, buy with confidence! GLWTS.
  20. Price drop now £350 collected.
  21. This is what I've found so far after a couple of weeks with it and two gigs with an 80s+ covers band. Also maybe 🙏 BCers will share custom presets (like Ian Martin Allison 😜) that match bass sounds on our favourite and gigging songs?[1] Plusses: * fantastic giggable presets (though I'm not yet a fan of 6 or 7) * highly configurable * intuitive controls (saving personal customisations to a preset) * when adjusting a preset (whether you meant to or not) that preset blinks, alerting you to a change * the footswitch to change presents works great, I configured a trigger on my pedal switcher to use it. Minuses/Drawbacks: * no functionality to save presets or settings off the pedal, eg to backup, share with other players or to clone another pedal. Bluetooth or USB-C will surely need to be added to the next version * the current position of the knobs has no relation to the just loaded preset, but may limit the available variation at that moment. I tend to set all the knobs to noon, prior to changing preset. * a slim, high pitched whine with my pedalboard gear (I'll be troubleshooting this today) [1] it'll be a challenge though, maybe a photo record of the knobs of the ordinary and secondary settings added to a description.
  22. Do you get any distortion? I had a set for a few days and while i thought they sounded ok, when i put music through them (virtual soundcheck using the XR18) i could hear a distortion on the music. Apparently this is a thing with these. Even Nux mention it. I never tried them in a loud environment to see if it was really noticeable, but it was at home.

  24. B7s are 5.8. Or if they are both I have the 5.8 version. I got them specifically as I’d been having problems with the Boss WL wireless I was using. I love them too but found that in a partly packed pub I couldn’t get 5 ft from the receiver.
  25. I use the Thomanns version of the MiPro 2.4 system and have never had an issue either. The only issue we have had recently was our XR18 was acting up, and i have a feeling this started when 2 of the band started using 5.8ghz wireless systems in close proximity to our external router. Ive always used 5.8 for the XR18 but at the last gig i switched it to 2.4 and it worked flawlessly. I wonder if the systems with the larger antenna are a bit more robust over those that have them internally like the Lekato MS-02 etc? Im also starting to wonder if 5 is now getting congested. I do scan networks at some venues and rarely find many operating (publicly) on 5.8, but i cant help feel that all those 5G phones in the audience could start interfering with the 5.8GHZ network. Could be way off the mark though.
