  2. Have just bought a vintage fender bass case from Brian. A pleasure to have a deal with you Brian, couldn’t have been better. Cheers. Guy
  3. Goodbye Cruel World - Pink Floyd
  4. Thank you! Good to know 😁👍 I guess I’ll just fit right back in then!
  5. It looks great as it is, but see original link for photos with the bridge cover off. It sounds the same either way 😉
  6. I’d be wary of fitting a jazz cover as screws may be in a different place - others more expert
  7. I'm not convinced it was ever a 4mm. As I expected, 4mm first even touch the sides. The 5mm engages but isn't quite snug and I don't want to put any torque on it really. But it does look a little abused on really close inspection. Maybe it was a 5mm once. It's a B2A fretless with full inlays (looks fretted until you're up close), but I don't know its serial. Guess it is "uncivilised". Certainly the neck is like half a baseball bat.
  8. All routed and slight comfort carve. Next stage will be black grain filler then Liberon Finishing Oil. Not sure whether to just fill the wenge or do the elm as well? I went with a 6.5 mm radius round-over for this one instead of the usual 12.7mm. I think I prefer the larger round-over bit rather than this one as it gives a thinner body overall
  9. Thank you and yep, I trust you guys in the know to keep me right. I know double basses well, but these wee things are not my department. The info I included, as you’ll see, comes from Brian’s original listing + the opinion of a reputable vintage guitars trader here in Scotland, who was kind enough to drop me some knowledge. Basically, I think that Brian’s original valuation of £1500 reflects the value of this bass in terms of professional quality, but a bit of a mix and match between original features and later embellishments. Any less than that, I think it’s a great deal, but I know times are hard for musicians (probably for most people), otherwise I wouldn’t be selling.
  10. Hi yes it does thanks harry

The guitar features an original neck shape and Dinky-shaped body that the artist was particularly particular about, and the electric section is equipped with an Ultra Noiseless™ Vintage Jazz Bass® pickup and the latest preamp, inheriting the playability and sound quality of the previous model. In addition, a new feature not available in the previous model is the inclusion of a thin pickguard of approximately 1.0 mm sandwiched under the gold anodized pickguard of approximately 1.2 mm, which gives the same playing feel as a 3-ply pickguard while maintaining the same appearance.’ One of my Feedback links. https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/137382-feedback-for-harry/#comment-1241408

  12. Guy, I’ll make it worse. It was the one in GG Glasgow that I tired! …you’re welcome
  13. No different from seeing yourself in a photo, rather than a mirror, all the asymmetries are exaggerated as you see them doubled.
  14. Left handed Basses, especially Jazz basses. They are just the mirror image of the right handed ones but they look gross!
  15. Good point. I was taught a martial art by a Malaysian Master and his student. It has Chinese, Korean, Okinawan and Japanese roots (see here https://tangsoudao.com/history-and-background/) but the style was actually developed in the UK. Read that link, it's a massive history of cultural appropriation in the Far East, if you want to take it that way.
  16. Hahaha, that was my first though when I saw @Iheartreverb's reply. Happy hunting in Glasgow. I'm looking forward to the NBD thread already!
  17. Given that George Harrison sought the tutelage of Ravi Shankar, I don't think anyone could call it appropriation, it was more of a gift to him
  18. Aww man don’t be saying things like that. This Charcoal is my absolute favourite p bass colour. I’m thinking of driving over to Glasgow to try one at guitar guitar. I’ve no business tempting myself but I’ve been very impressed with the road worn series having owned an original series jazz RW which I loved but got nicked, a JMJ (twice) and my main bass, a Flea jazz. I’m not usually picky but would love to find a really light one in charcoal 🤞🏼for Glasgow.
  19. Just saw this. As someone who owned a Bass 400+ back in the day (probably the best-sounding bass head I ever owned), I love the look of it and I'm looking forward to trying one out. Now, how can I persuade them to make a lightweight version of the old 1516 cab?
  20. Thanks @Sibob and @LukeFRC, useful information. David
  21. Today

  23. Thanks mate. Just to stop people misusing it for nefarious reasons. Probably not really necessary on an old Musicmaster.
